They want to get rid of him

730

‘They’ want to get rid of him.  Not all of them, by any measure, I’ve seen Neil Lennon welcomed as an old friend by some whose allegiances lie a long way from Celtic Park, but to some he represents an opportunity to indulge in the kind of prejudice which was once widely accepted in Scotland.

In this instance I’m not talking about the idiot football fans, there are lots of idiot football fans, just waiting for an opportunity to present their credentials.  You can meet them wearing any colours.  The people who showed their true colours today were in charge of stewarding guests at Tynecastle – and Neil Lennon was a guest.

It’s a horrible place.  The day the flats are built cannot come soon enough. I expect a robust response from Aberdeen, as well as life bans. I expect nothing from Hearts.

  1. Cowiebhoy supporting the Celtic to 3 in a row on

Just heading off oot to Mass

Those going ( to mass) this morning, please pray for Gerry, brother of our own poster Tom, who is desperately trying to get home to see Gerry, for what appears his a goodbye

    Thoughts and prayers for both

    Then

It’s onto. Celtic Park, and get behind the Bhoys and our own Neil Francis Lennon

    Hail Hail

If we had had the balls to say no… we’re not going to sell our own for the crimes of yours…. It would have died dead right there. Lest what brought them there be investigated and analysed and subject to the courts of the land and Europe.

But for some God alone know reason we went belly up.

You were there yesterday so you know about the atmosphere whereas I wasn’t but your post fully support Paul’s comments for this article about lack of stewarding control at Tynecastle.

It is many years since I was at that place and I will never go back.

My experience of the old ground when it was terracing was of a serious crush to get out through a small tunnel and emerging onto Gorgie Road to be insulted and dodge missiles from the residents of the tenements with no protection or attempt by police to exert any control.

Perhaps it was the total lack of segregation but I found that place much worse than anywhere else in Scotland for Celtic supporters.

One of my very best ghirl friends (perpetual season ticket holder at CP) is married to a Hearts supporter and not all are bitter against Celtic but I dislike this club totally and celebrated 1986 probably more than any title win.

Yes – let there be more flats for sale in Edinburgh soon.

  4. Good morning (again) friends from a disappointingly wet and blustery East Kilbride. But great to have a visit to Celtic Park to look forward to.

  5. Hearts and the Edinburgh Police failed to protect the Celtic manager when he was attacked at Tynecastle. The fact that they allowed a repeat to happen yesterday shows that they are incompetent or knuckle draggers or both.

The Police in particular have failed as the Focus Group were installed to deal with precisely this type of behaviour. However there focus has been targeting Celtic fans. Yesterday they were probably in their office , screening videos of Celtic fans for the next series of dawn raids.

The overall policing of Tynecastle is the responsibility of Stephen House, who was probably on the M8 on his motorbike flagging down speeding motorists on his own copyright Sunday Times.

When will we have a statement from Police on another failure?

Bear in mind we are talking about Celtic PLC here, with some big names on the shareholders register, not Belfast Celtic.

  8. kitalba- This is what AFC will have to establish, they will know who was in the area.

But as ipaddy has confirmed there was very low security at this fixture.

The question has been asked if it were McCoist and McDowell sitting there would they have just been ignored? I doubt it.

AFC like any other club have their yahoo element.

Fans Against Criminalisation are delighted to announce plans to release the single ‘’Roll of Honour’’ in association with The Irish Brigade for the duration of the week beginning on 8th of February. This single will be available for download on iTunes. We would like to thank the band for kindly allowing us to use their song to help aid our campaign against the criminalisation of football supporters and the suppression of political expression.

Download the Roll of Honour any time in the week 8 -15 February inclusive and let’s get it into the UK Top 40 Singles Charts and embarrass the hypocrites who seek to criminalise us.

This particular song is a ballad about civil resistance and a struggle for basic human rights and it has been a favourite of the Celtic support for over a decade. Shamefully, the SNP’s Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act has resulted in the song becoming a target for Police Scotland and numerous arrests have been made as a result. From its outset FAC has sought to oppose this discriminatory piece of legislation and to defend the rights of football supporter’s which have been continually eroded since the Act’s introduction.

We call on the Celtic family from all corners of the globe to support this campaign by downloading the single to help raise funds to aid the legal costs of those whose lives are being torn apart by this disgracefully illiberal law and to help further publicise the hypocrisy inherent within the government’s position.

  10. Where is the alacrity of the official Celtic PLC statement?

When are Celtic going to learn that the alacrity means much?

  11. I Paddy-good insightful post but “It’s also wrong to portray Tynecastle as some sort of seething cauldron of religious hatred.” I’m afraid i can’t agree with that.I find Tynecastle on a par ,and sometimes worse than when we had to go to play a team that doesn’t exist any more.I do accept not all are like this .HH

  12. goldstar10:

Every club has its maggots. What happened happened, I don’t know where Ally McCoist was and I fail to see how bringing his name into the equation changes anything.

What happened had nothing to do with Rangers or any of its employees or supporters, why even begin to entertain the notion to bring them into the equation.

  14. So now our manager cannot attend a high profile football match without being the target for morons? And the authorities, civil and footballing, are apparently powerless to do anything about it.

I hope our club will be writing to the SPFL, Hearts as hosts and Police Scotland seeking explanations of why this was allowed to happen. It seems that criminal activity took place in front of scores of witnesses. How many were arrested?

Or are we supposed to ignore incidents like this as just par for the course in the “greatest wee country in the world”?

  15. Just back from Morrisons,a quick scan of the rags, and to be fair the NL story is all over the front pages. Is Jack Irvine employed by Sky? I will listen to Off The Ball this morning to hear if it gets a mention.Stuart Cosgrove’s family is from Irish descent after all.

  16. Anyone know when Campbell will come out of his bunker to comment on this NL attacks or does he just come out to defend his beloved club when someone says they died ?

  17. 67 heaven,

A Celtic spokesman was quoted in a Daily Mail article.

Download ‘Roll of honour’. Yep, that’s going to stop the cycle of hatred. Too many Celtic supporters actually feel superior to the Orange element. Phil Mac is one example. He condemns the huns for their superiority attitude yet he is displaying the same tendencies.

We aren’t any better or worse. I’d like to thank the people who have challenged my comments as they haven’t resorted to insults or abuse. May it continue.

Ally mcoist received more media sympathy for being called a pr*ck on twitter than neil lennon has for countless assaults and death threats.

McCoist demands to know names of sfa panel, which he already knew, nothing done.Neil spat on and hit with coiins, hes a controversial character

  20. NatKnow - Supporting Wee Oscar on

Will Neil Lennon be safe to attend Tynecastle on 22 February? He’s been attacked twice there. In the first case he was physically assaulted in front of a full stadium and large TV audience and the offender was allowed to get off without any kind of punishment. Yesterday he was assaulted again and nothing at all was done to protect him. It seems to be acceptable in the Scottish capital for the Celtic manager to be physically abused and nothing done.

I wonder who the Police Match Commander was yesterday? Someone should ask him why there were so few police. It seems to me that Hearts do not have enough money to pay for the stewarding required for a big football game. Tynecastle should be closed down by the SFA – not propped up.

  21. 16 roads - Wee Oscar the Celtic warrior. on

If a person spat at,or spat on me, I would probably lose my temper and resort to violence.

When all is said and done, spitting at a person must surely be one of the worst things you could do.

I honestly don’t know how our manager puts up with this carry on.

If he does decide to leave the club, and that is a day that I dread – could you really blame him?

The thing that saddened me most is the so-called Celtic supporters on here whom attempt to vilify our own manager on a daily basis.

You know who you are, and yous are a feckin disgrace, even worse than the cowards that spat on him yesterday.

The treatment of Neil Lennon today is part of the shape of things to come if the ‘Yes’ people get their way. Scotland is the most bigoted part of the UK and an independent Scotland will intensify this bigotry. Meanwhile, the SNP will side with Edinburgh juries till Kingdom come.

    ———————————–

What, more bigoted than say…..Northern Ireland???? LMFAO!! How about Wales- setting fire to English people’s houses?? How about England and their persecution of blacks and Muslims??????? How about RC celtic fans in monkey suits abusing Mark Walters, or singing “I’d rather be a paki than a hun?????’ Or booing Nat anthem during paul McStay’s testimonial??? How about UK indians abusing UK pakistanis? UK Jamaicans abusing UK Africans? How about men abusing women, straights on gays???

It’s not only Scottish prods who can be idiots. North men south men comrades all – soon there’ll be no protestants at all…..

The actions of a few of the underclass in Scottish society (catholics and prods) is not representative of scottish society. Not that this opinion will fit in with many on here’s world view. Saor Alba.

  23. Read the submissions of Celtic and Rangers to the Justice Committee for the OB Bill.

    They boast of suggesting FoCUS.

Can understand Huns wanting Glasgow police brethren handling them with white kid gloves, but what was in it for us.

Given that FoCUS was a prerequisite essential for the OB laws that were still in embryo form Celtic were in this up to their necks. IMHO of course.

  24. The first rule of Analogy Club is you do not talk about Analogy Club, in the same way managers and players do not talk about what gets said in the dressing room

  25. 16 roads,

You are right. NL has been condemned on this site for some poor cup results. Little did his Celtic supporter critics consider the pressures which he faced when we lost some of those cup games. Has any other manager faced such pressures because of his ethnicity? We have many posters from different countries – perhaps they could enlighten us? There must be another parallel.

  26. The report in the Sunday Mail has a photo of Neil, the guy sitting beside him looks like Billy Brown. It says Neil was moved to a seat near the Press Box ,after a coin hit someone close by.A plastic bottle was then thrown at him and landed in the Press Box.Clyde had 2 people there covering the game, they failed to report this(Radio Scotland did immediately) ,and they tried their best to ignore the story on the phone in,even though Delahunt said he seen reports on Social Media, and also said it had been reported on another radio station.Yeah,Glasgow and the West’s premier radio station, first with the news blah blah blah…..their Head of News and Sport has plenty of previous.

They claim the thug who attacked Neil in the dugout at Tynecastle merely “shouted and swore at him”. Even when the glaring proof is on live TV these bigots comfortably re-write history.
