Those moving on in the summer

1021

I’ve always cautioned against judging a player who has been out for an extended period but being hooked at halftime last night looks like an ominous sign for Derk Boerrigter, who sparkled for 30 minutes on his debut against Ross County earlier in the season but has come nowhere close to that form since.

Injuries stopped him in his tracks that day against County, and several times since, but whatever the reason, we’ve not seen anything like what the player is capable of, and at 27, he is likely to be looking for first team action elsewhere next season.

After last night’s game Neil Lennon spoke of the possibility of signing and losing players over the summer transfer window, which starts in three weeks.  Buying well is crucial, and Celtic didn’t do that last summer, but getting those ‘no longer in the manager’s plans’ off the books as early as possible is also important.

Last August we offloaded Lassad, probably by parting with a bundle of cash in the process.  This is not a precedent Celtic will have been keen to set, but it’s better to have the decks cleared than have an unproductive player linger around for a year.

Anyone starting less than a third of the games he is available for selection should be looking for pastures new, especially with new arrivals expected this summer.

    Archdeaconsbench,

I`m pretty sure that they said on Wednesday that it is the Hibs v Killie match. It is the only meaningful march.

I don’t think anyone would disagree with that assessment, but the problem is the Telegraph headline using words like “corrupt”. That is what people are complaining about.

I watched Wednesday’s game on Setanta Australia on Thursday morning and it was the BT broadcast. Whenever the commentator starts advertising future games, the sound is muted.

On Wednesday the person whose job it is to press the mute button must have been pashed, because we all heard “And on Saturday we will be at Easter Road for Hi . . .”

    So there you have it.

Thoughts and prayers with the Knox family on their very tragic loss.

May God and the angels offer what comfort they can.

Yes, I’m not sure why the word corrupt was used as there is no reference to it in the story. I noted you have decided to call it a day Tom in respect of work? Lucky you. Hope you enjoy a long, happy and healthy retirement. I plan to do the same, but not for 4 more years I’m afraid.

    My friends in Celtic,

Was delighted to see that Helena Costa was named as the new manager for the delighfully named French team Clermont Foot.

As we are aware Helena was a scout for Celtic and seemingly did an “excellent” job.

As we have been informed that we have a large number of female “lurkers”, although less active in actual participation this must be interesting and encouraging news.

It reinforces our claim to be an inclusive club and contradicts the stereotype cliche associated with ” Why have females got smaller feet : So they can get closer to the sink.”

Seriously: In the wider context, female equality must not be compromised by any ideology or dogma subject to physical limitations.

    BMA,

Hopefully your E-Mail to ACGR can bring a fruitful conclusion.

The decision yesterday by the CAA to defer the reduced Helicopter capacity will certainly enhance employment prospects in the short term.

    Good luck.

    HH, always in Celtic.
