Time for expensive signings, the 1254125 10k

1606

Motherwell travel to Celtic Park tomorrow on a mission.  A win would see them draw level with Celtic, and after a physically and mentally draining Champions League midweek game, they will fancy their chances.  Inverness remain top of the league on goal difference, but this is the third consecutive season Motherwell have tucked in below Celtic.  They will not finish above Celtic, of course, but this is likely to be our toughest test of the season.

As well as the result, there should be other objectives from tomorrow’s game.  We are eight games into our European campaign but our two most expensive summer signings, Teemu Pukki and Derk Boerrigter, and still to settle into the team.  Both should start against Motherwell.

For reasons you know too well, I thought it would be a good idea to do the Great Scottish Run on Sunday in aid of 1254125.  I have (just) setup a Mydonate page, if you have been unable to participate in any event so far, you can do so online now.

Many thanks for your support.

    RIP George Ryan.

Thoughts on match after pondering on journey home on bus and boat over a few beers.. VVD is a star and gets the best out of efe. Adams injury is a blow hopefully Forrest stays fit and takes over right midfield.

But up top bhoys and ghirls puukki doesn’t do it for me am afraid.. I honestly don’t think he will offer us more than watt, atajic or mc Gregor woulda gave us if given the chance.

Know the Heaney Bhoys. This area is becoming increasingly Celtic minded. The Polish influx has helped. The Poles are going to mass and Paradise in large numbers.

    Good Morning,

However, if ever there was a contradiction in terms that would be it!

I have just come in from a night out with friends and am stunned– absolutely stunned — to read of the passing of George Ryan.

I sent a message to George no less than 48 hours ago about the idea of a CQN charity dinner, in which I sought his advice, help and words of wisdom.

In the past I have had lunch with him at the City Chambers, talked to him about things civic and things Celtic, and to be frank about things which are best described as things St John Doyle and things BRTH.

George was always for Celtic, for socialism, for social justice, for the common man, for the common good and for decency.

When I e-mailed him on Friday night, I will be honest and say that I fully expected a reply which said something like ” Lets talk about this over lunch” with an add on asking about the usual things… health, well being and family.

So.. I repeat I am stunned and saddened… deeply saddened.

George Ryan was one of the world’s good guys. He set out to make a difference at local level, on behalf of……. well it didn’t really matter on whose behalf he made a difference…. he just wanted to make a difference…. a good difference.

I won’t pretend that I knew George very well, but he was more than a passing acquaintance and more than a name on a blog page….. far far more.

My thoughts go out to his immediate family and close friends, and to his constituents and colleagues for who, with whom and on behalf of whom he worked diligently and with integrity.

He will be sadly missed by everyone involved in Glasgow politics and who work on behalf of the Celtic cause.

I know he was very keen on establishing a Celtic kids choir which would sing for charity and to raise the spirits of the Celtic support both at home and abroad.

Hopefully that will come to fruition.

However, for now we have to remember and cherish the name of George Ryan… one of our own, one of the best and one of a kind.

My thoughts and prayers go with George and to his family.

    He will be missed

  14. Some Celtic stats

    SPL

    Played 8 Scored 19 Conceded 7

This is 4 goals and a game in hand over the next highest scorers ICT

    who have scored 15

We have conceded the same amount of goals as Dundee Utd but have

    played one game more.

The above would suggest that our attack is fine and any problems

    would be in defence.

However the general consensus is a growing optimism in our defenders

especially the new pairing of Efe and VVD.

    Anyway which would youse prefer

2 players on 25 goals each

    or

5 players on 10 goals each

I remember people in Rutherglen complaining about public transport and how they were forced to take the car. Train every 10 minutes and choices of 3 buses to city centre. Two train routes to Edinburgh. Buses going in all directions and close enough to walk to paradise.

Big eye opener to land up here in Adelaide where the car rules. Luckily, just discovered a bike path that goes most of the way into CBD and the journey to work now quicker than the bus. Plus, no cycling in the hail, snow and sub-zero temps any more.
