This afternoon’s friendly against Tottenham Hotspur gives Ronny Deila a dilemma. Last weekend he played a second string against St Pauli, but with things going so wrong in Warsaw on Wednesday, the pressure is on to pull a game plan together which will work at Murrayfield.
Our other concern is that the squad, without Ambrose, Brown and Forrest, is already looking threadbare. We simply can’t afford an injury to afflict Commons, Griffiths, Stokes, Johansen, van Dijk, Matthews, Lustig or Izaguirre.
The suggestion was put to me this week that we should play Lustig with van Dijk in central defence on Wednesday. Lustig can play there, but would Ronny trust them on such an important occasion without a warm-up game?
If I was taking a risk with first-team players this afternoon it would be to pair these two. If we’re going to get the required result on Wednesday the most important area of the team to get right is the defence.

Celtic finding it very hard to keep possession from their own throw inns
CCB
His wages will be too much for us
Besides which we can’t keep bringing players in …we have too many moderate forwards
Sold the only one with genuine potential …..
Brought in another dud in Berget …( rash comment perhaps …but I’ll take bets he’s dross ..nae heart and a hide and seek merchant )
Honesty is required with the fans re squad management and whoever signed those trumpets last summer needs sacked … Btw I don’t think it was Lenny ..

Presumably they already knew that they mustn’t lose possession easily. If you had a few youngsters playing in a half decent team they would learn something. With almost a whole team of youngsters they are just out of their depth.
O’Connell off injured and replaced by Findlay. Fridjohnson also on

I do not like to make light of the atrocities taking place in Gaza, don’t think this blog should be used for either sides propaganda though.

A sensible strategy. I’m not a huge fan of loan signings though and I think we’d struggle to pay the transfer fees for these guys even at vastly reduced rates.
Ooft 5-1
I missed that goal.
79 caps
They are well outmatched.
Out of their depth??? Naw
Ask the young players afterwards if that was good for their development or not. I’ll take their word.
Great finish by Eriksen with the free kick 5:1
Efe yellow card and free kick on the D, same as in Warsaw. Curled into the top corner
Plus points Pukki sees Helsinki again?
Delaneys Spot on mate.

Suppose we had the cash, last season anyway. It was frittered away on several who failed.
Celtic will have some money to spend. Deila has indicated as much and mentioned signing one or two quality players (relative term).
I will say it again. Why are our 1st team not playing in this match?.The line up and tactics he will play on Wednesday. They have done eff all in pre season. They had the legs run off them because they were not match fit. This was a god given opportunity to try and get it right on the pitch.Thrown away, and another humiliation chance against the Celtic name.
Does anyone really think at the age our players are at,that Deila talking to them, showing them tactics boards, telling them everything they have been doing their whole lives,is wrong,or not up to the mark?.Maybe getting them match fit would be a better idea.
I really fear the worst.
Celtic TV crashed, stopped watching!
Amido Balde – why?

Spurs penalty
Penalty
Never a pen
Ref awards Spurs a pen against Efe- very soft decision
Ambrose gives away his customary penalty
Efe gives it away
Ach never mind that we’re getting humped 5-1 and the way it will be looked at.
Think of all the exposure we received for the opening ceremony.
Good grief.

PF Ayr,
Don’t agree on Van W, but I do agree on Beget
Suspect he will be on around £30 k a week, which should be at top end of our budget, and, his goals record in HollNd and Benfica was excellent.
As for who signed the guys last summer, my view is that Lenny didn’t do his own homework on them. I suspect he looked at their CVs and a few videos and they were signed on basis of scouting reports.
Is the mercy rule in effect?
Youths did well against St Pauli last week the German second tier side its a big ask against this super Spurs outfit. qPR are in Ireland for a gentle pre season warmup Harry knows how to do it properly.
The closest Celtic get to the halfway line is when they kick off after conceding
6:1 with the pen

Coaching is always good. Unless you or I get to see what is going on with RD and his team at Lennoxtown, we are in no position to see how good or bad it is.
