Time up for SFA bowling club committee

678

Yesterday’s Sunday Mail exposé on attempts by the SPFL to change the balance of power within the SFA in favour of the professional clubs, while changing their bowling club committee-approach to running the game, was worthy of some merit but clearly the result of an SFA leak designed to undermine the proposed changes.

Any organisation which has a built-in requirement for office-bearers to have enough spare time on their hands in the years before nomination to attend mind-numbingly boring committee meetings is set on a path for mediocrity.  Only those not busy enough with real world issues and challenges will qualify, meaning your best talent is never eligible, which is why we end up with a president like Campbell Ogilvie, who met the mediocre standards and is kept there by equally able under-achievers.

The Sunday Mail try to make out that the proposed move is a grab for cash, although they also explain why this cannot really be the case.  It’s not a grab for cash, it’s not a subversive plot by Premiership clubs, it is an acknowledgement by the professional clubs that the systems of governance and administration in the game is inept and that they do not currently have the control to change things.

Our game needs deliverance from the bowling club committee.

And shout it loud and proud. Proud you should be. At a recent visit to our vet, there was a young lassie on work experience, and she was loving it. I really hope the young yin makes the grade. They do an amazing job. :-)))

We took in a rescue cat 10 years ago, she is still going strong and dominating the household, we as a family would be lost without her.

  3. Watching Köln v. Bochum at the moment. The Köln left-back Jonas Hector looks quite handy. Possible backup for Izzy?

    Your posts got me thinking

maybe our signing policy of potential goalscorers is a bit like taking in rescue dogs -not sure what we’ll get – but meets the budget and hope the fans will get to love them.

  6. Weefra….

Like I said mate……love her to bits for her career choices to date.

You might want to ask your granda, how Big Jim and friends turned the Bowlers into what it is :-)

Going back probably aboot 60 years ago ( long before I was born) when Catholics couldn’t get a drink in Cowie

Let’s just say there was some real hardy Bhoys aboot then who changed it ( Big Jim being one of them)

Ask ma Auld Da, he will fill you in, he says he was the brains right enough :-)

this just might be a bit insensitive but did you have lamb yesterday for dinner and if so how did you cook it? Me, garlic butter and rosemary and a delicious Rogan Josh tonight.

    aye learnin’csc

  10. Sorry guys, was dining there. And had fish.

If you are under any illusion that farmers don’t know where their animals end up, then you live on cloud cookoo land. No disrespect intended. No, we did not have a lamb joint yesterday, mainly because we prefer beef. If anyone really believes these beautiful wee lambs are here for anything other than our consumption, they need a reality check. We are talking about the food chain. We end up worm food when we get buried. The circle of life, some people it. :-))))

  11. My favourite player and footballing person I have ever met is Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish.

I adored him as a Junglebhoy….I was born in the swinging 60s y’see.

I took a five months absence from watching Celtic when some of my fellow Junglebhoys booed Kenny,at Jock Stein’s testimonial….the most belligerent and soul searching five months of my teens……..I hadn’t missed a game home or away,in Scotland, for 3 years prior to this.I cried when Kenny got booed……seriously.

The guy who played Henrik before Euro 2000……2 league games on a comeback from a broken leg.

    The guy knew fitba…….Martin O’Neil was grateful….

  12. Cowiebhoy

Have heard that story before I’m sure some of them got banged up for it.

  15. CowieBhoy & Aiden Bhoy re Big Jim L …… He was a real gent and a great guy. When we were bairns he was the barman in the Cowie Tavern …. On New Years morning it was the done thing to take empty beer bottles back to the tavern and get three pence for each bottle. Jim L would give us the money put the bottles out the back o the pub an we would pinch them and take them back in and get the money again …… It was years later I met big Jim and he recalled what we were up to …saying ” aye ye thought I didnae ken whit yeas were up tae”

  25. Blessing your self at a football match.

Watching Man City v West Brom tonight and noticed the WBA sub come on and bless himself.

I see it most weeks and there is never a comment in the English Press. Many Muslim players come on and pray before the match.

Hernandez of Man Utd does before every game. No one comments.

Italy, Spain any league in the world you see the same.

So why is this a police matter in Scotland?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/5287664.stm

    Arthur Boruc

Even Sir Alex was worried about Hernandez blessing himself in a football ball game in Scotland.
