You asked for it, many of you campaigned for it. All of you debated it, expressed a view on it and now your wish has been granted. The SPL voted 10-1 against parachuting Sevco into the league next season, with only Sevco itself voting for, and the Loyal Resisters abstaining.
Our fellow SPL clubs have spoken “unequivocally”, as have their fans. To be fair to fans of former club, Rangers, many of them wanted no part in this shoddy arrangement.
Having won the argument we must now win the future. As Celtic said in their statement yesterday:
“During Celtic’s long and illustrious 125-year history, there have been periods of difficulty. At these times, our supporters have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the Club. We need our supporters to be with us now, more than ever.
“We know our own supporters will be acutely aware of the significant challenges that lie ahead. We enter next season as Champions of Scotland and look ahead to retaining our title and to making an impact in a European context. We know how difficult this will be and we call on our supporters to join us in tackling these challenges, to take their place at Celtic Park, to invest in the Club and to continue to give us the kind of support for which they are renowned.”
The call has been made. Now, more than any time apart from when Fergus issued a similar call in 1994, you need to step forward and buy a season ticket for the champions and only club in Scotland who have played their entire history in top flight football.
The important debate isn’t about Newco anymore, it’s now about Celtic.
I’ve read the doom and scaremongering this morning, some of which is downright inappropriate. The grassroots fans who raised their voices and brought about this situation now have a responsibility to ensure our common future is successful.
There are many desperate for all or some of the 10 clubs who voted No yesterday to fail. We have to ensure all succeed. The forward plan for Celtic has to be a forward plan for Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hibs, Hearts, Motherwell and the rest.
All of these teams need a solution which allows them play competitive football in front of packed stadiums and to retain the talent they develop well into maturity. Any plan which does not aim for this will fail.
If we achieve this, yesterday’s vote will be the day foundations were laid for a stunning sporting achievement.
More later.
I don’t need to tell any of you about Oscar Knox, the three-year-old who is currently going through chemotherapy. We have all been touched by his photographs and TV appearance, while his dad has kept us up to date on the blog.
If you think our football club is worth stepping forward for, I make no apologies for asking you to dig deep twice today and remember why the entire Celtic project started. Take a read at Oscar’s blog and get involved.

Superbe as usual.

I just made a bold predicition to a couple of hurtin auld rangers fans in our works kitchen there.
“scottish fitba is deid”
“naw it isnae”
“loads of club will die”
“naw they willnae”
“whit makes you say that”
“well without the toxic element of fincially cheating organisation breaking the rules to win trophies, the other clubs fans will return to their teams to support a competition based on sporting integrity”
“your just making that up”
ahhahaahhahahahhahahahha
First up, thanks guys for all the kind comments last night and this morning.
What an excellent start to the day. I got up, had my coffee, put on the internet and read that NewCo’s entire pre-season tour has been cancelled.
Are they even going to HAVE a pre-season? Those nuclear effects are beginning to show now, aren’t they? And it’s fun to watch.
Then I read on here that big Fraser Forster has signed! Nice one Celtic, timed to absolute perfection. Rubbing it right in.
Magic.
The Regan we know…”Oh no, Oh no, Oh no.”
The Regan we should have and who is salaried to provide.. “Ok, these are the cards we have dealt, let’s get on with it. I will use my expertise as a CEO to promote the game in Scotland to the media. TV, Europe.
Apologies for going back to yesterday’s news.
After being part of Green’s failed bid to obtain the SPL share, Mc.Coist heads over to Liberty Takers Hall to assist his boss in repelling the repellant JB.
The least we can do is applaud his loyalty to the chief.
However, after the meeting he is quoted as saying that he can’t ask fans to buy STs, because of the uncertainties.
What a pernicious, odious toad of a man.
Who needs enemies, Charlie?
Is the superscorebboard available to hear from last night anywhere? It’s not on the clyde website.

There must be a few Celtic youngsters who would benefit from some SPL game time this season. Could we see a few loan deals completed soon?
………….
I’d prefer they got plenty of game time for us this season. This season could very well be unique in the history of football.
We could play 2 or 3 kids every game and win the league and give valuable experience to the future generation or we could play a full strength team, win the league out of sight and learn nothing.
savo01:
It’s in the podcasts section. In typical Clyde fashion they’ve got the wrong date on it.
I saw that numpty Roddy Forsyth in the Telegraph mistaking Tuesday for Wednesday earlier this week. The stress must be getting to these folk.
The ramsden cup starts the 28th July(?) therefore sfl season started.
Hun still in administration as confirmed today until the 31st of July at least.
25 point penalty surely?
If Sevco end up in SFL 3rd Division Celtic should offer to put a Under 21 team in with them. Throw the dog a bone?
Hector Avocado, many thanks, thoroughly appreciated.
navanbhoy, well done.
anche gli angeli, 33/1 on! Stunning.
Still generous, though.
dixiebhoy69, true.
tomtheleedstim, got it. Will revert later.
WeefratheTim, cheers.
Good things about rfc(il) not being in the spl. No. 8
The thought of rfc(il) supporting ‘journos’ reporting from the likes of cowdenbeath (have you google imaged their stadium – Central Park!!!!!) Methil, Boghead, etc. Oh the indignity, to have to experience how the impoverished live… should give them ‘perspective’
Why would the “New Club, name to be decided” rush into a pre-season tour.
They will have from July 2012 till May 2013 to get it arranged.
Good things about rfc(il) not being in the spl. No. 9
Looking forward to the derby….at Cliftonhill. Capacity 1200 approx. Might even be a full house!

I just heard it too. It showed how deeply entrenched jabba is within the hun establishment, standing by his false cause beyond the end. One of his cringeworthy comments…’more than 95% of contributions to internet blogs are utter nonsense’.
He was well grilled by Cosgrove and Spence and could only defend himself by cutting them off in mid-sentence. Best quote of the show went to Cosgrove who suggested that those in the Glasgow written media were too attached to Rangers and readily printed what they were being fed, however untrue it was. Cosgrove and Spence slammed the Armageddon headlines and jabba squirmed to justify his newspaper’s stance..
A good listen and well done to C and S for putting this pompous ass in his place.

greenjedi,
I was thinking of helping out a few other clubs too.
Fair point about our playing young players too though.

The word in Rotherham is that they want Tony Watt on loan but are waiting for Celtic to decide. It sounds like we are after a proven striker and if that comes off then Tony will be farmed out. Otherwise he will be part of the 1st team pool in the coming season.
On S/t., regarding the area that was for every game accept THE Newco. Although it will not affect myself directly, Celtic FC may have a Pricing problem on selling. ie If already bought, how much will the ticket be for the 2 games v Dundee / Pars / ANother or whoever, cost or If you purchase now, what will the price be.
Shug Keevins in the words of Stewart Regan is worried about his pay packet by the sounds of things on talksport presently
Unable to use a season ticket any more, however,
I think this is a great idea fro Celtic and a way for people like
myself to inject some cash into our beloved club.
Celtic Supporters Clubs might think of purchasing as well.

Can I ask a question about SevCo?
Regardless of the League they end up in, will they still have the transfer embargo for 1 yr?
***
I’m confused over that too – when they went to court didn’t that get overturned and returned to the SFA/review panel (if that ever gets around to sitting again) to pick another punishment?
Also, can anyway explain how Scottish football will ose £16m if they are in Div 3 but not if they are in Div 1? The other Div 3 clubs for a start will make more money for at least a season (don’t they always love to draw a big club in the cup?), then those in Div 2 and Div 1 (assuming Sevco get promoted).
I will still be unghappy if they end up in Div 3 as they should be going down the Woolworths route into oblivion, or at the very least the Gretna route into non-league – for example, the Western Region Junior Football league structure.

Oh my god
Did I just hear keevins say ‘on talksport’ that scottish CLUBS are making the rules up as they go along?????
No Hugh, the only thing the Scottish clubs have done (apart from 1 dead one) is apply the rules as they are in black and white.
The SFA and SPL as organisations may be trying to re write rules alright but the clubs have shown they are the only parties here who have applied the rules properly and fairly!!!!!
Keevins you are a plum!!!!!!

No-one likes us and it has turned into our worst nightmare!
“The Rangers Football Club has been informed by the organisers of
our pre-season trip to Germany that they can no longer offer us a place on the tour.
“The team was due to play three games in Germany between 18-25
July, but the trip will now not take place at their request.” Southampton and Le Havre had previously withdrawn invitations to Ally McCoist’s team to play pre-season fixtures.
On the Regan/Ogilvie front – I wonder how much government intervention has been going on? – maybe Regan let the cat out of the bag a wee bit yesterday.
Interesting that they are holding onto their positions at all costs – leads to a suspicion that they have been ‘instructed’ to stay put – come what may.
How do we get rid of those clowns?
With regard to Doncaster, I would assume that the SPL clubs have the power to get rid of him. Why isn’t that happening? – or is he actually representing the SPL’s wishes through his increasingly bizarre utterances and actions?

IMO the other clubs would be better of giving their youth a chance.
Seize the opportunity from fiscal loss to give kids a chance
Still no sign of remorse from Deadco fc this morn, bad enough that Regan, Doncaster etc are representing the blue corner, ensuring that will do all they can to cushion them into league one. Next up we have ex player Trevor Steven on SSN telling us ‘scottish football will suffer (without thems..), celtic will suffer and scottish footballs standing in europe will suffer….’ yeah for sure!!!! The dead clubs record in europe hardly set the heather a-light!! So many of these wretched orcs still cant see anything wrong with their clubs actions. They feel they are the victims, they feel they are the ones being badly treated.
I really cant wait for the new season to begin, i hope celtic park and the other spl stadiums are full to the rafters each week. i, for one, will not miss the presence of our shameful neighbours.

Love the first comment on that link about the huns cancelled tour:
‘Probably a good idea as for some of the players – those yet to start shaving – it would be their first trip abroad without mummy and daddy. The team would have been thrashed in all their games and their supporters then sidle off to support their local team as the full realisation dawns on them. Best do what all the other 3rd division clubs do and have a half hour training session then off to the pub. It makes me laff to think that this club will get promoted every year and be back in the SPL in 3 teays. How are you going to win anything when you are sending out a team with a couple of oldies and the rest just out of school. Has no-one noticed – the team is decimated.’
HH
Thanks for reply iBhoy.
Keevins on Talksport peddling the Armageddon line. He tells Stubbs that Sevco fans want Div 3 in order to avenge those who put them there, but then says the atmosphere in Scotland is poisonous. In Scotland?

Interesting week ahead in determining how an SPL without rangers will forge ahead.
SKY broke their silence yet?
On holiday just now, quite a few Scottish voices and only seen two rangers strips.
Life without rangers off to a lovely start.
What league should a newly-formed Rangers be allowed to play in next season?
SPL
480 (2%)
Division One
366 (1%)
Division Two
