Topping’s who knew what when?

2675

In his Q&A session with the Daily Record yesterday, outgoing SPFL chairman, Ralph Topping touched on the subject of who knew what when, regarding Rangers slide into liquidation saying:

“There wasn’t one single person ever who envisaged this case happening. You tell me who pointed out that this was going to happen – did you?

“The biggest assumption about the set-up in the SPL would be that you would have Rangers and Celtic playing in it in perpetuity – nobody thought that those two bastions of football would ever be involved in anything like this and nobody flagged it up.”

Well, in October 2011 I knew.  This CQN article from 27 October 2011 notes in very specific detail Rangers were going to liquidate, a phoenix would be created which wanted direct access to the SPL (the top flight at that time).  I got the timing wrong, predicting the phoenix would take place during the season, but to be fair, it later became clear this was Craig Whyte’s plan at the time.

Ralph Topping’s SPL knew too.  Rangers alerted them to the situation that very month.  The SPL spend November, December and January preparing the ground for Rangers administration and liquidation, a period during which a new TV deal was signed.

Surely by the law off averages the new klub must get an away draw at some point (Celtic park doesn’t count that just keeps the lights on and the off shore accounts bulging :-) Alledgedly

Someone will correct me but I’m sure every club has a 50/50 chance of a home tie every draw.

It’s like flipping a coin. Of course I’m not factoring in a weighted coin here, but purely stats it’s 50/50

    TET…

They have a collective madness, existing only in their own wee world with no counter balance to their sense of entitlement and supremacy.Impervious to constructive criticism and unwilling to bend even when it would be to their benefit.Their arrogance is heavily weighted by idiocy.

Badly guided from childhood and enabled and encouraged by a weak, compliant media.

I’m ecstatic at not being one of the peepil.

Aye, what I like as well is when we tell them what is going to happen and they ignore it cos it’s Timmy telling lies again, always makes it sweeter when it does happen so it does.

I could never even imagine being one.

Stop introducing logic even though it’s uncanny with these 50/50 chances :-)

By the way, paranoia ! Watching James Bond “the day after tomorrow” and I quote ” Man Utd beating the home team Celtic 3-1 in the champions league” even Ian Fleming canny like the Hoops :-)

Ignore my last post day after tomorrow is not James Bond and heehaw to do with Ian Fleming, going to be a long, long 3 weeks :-)

  10. Day after tomorrow that global warming movie? I thought Celtic were drawing in that scene

  11. Home draws

In each draw you have a one in two chance – a probability of a 1/2 or 50% – of being drawn at home. It is equivalent to flipping a coin and getting heads. But the chance of x home draws in a row is like all players flipping heads one after each other – it halves each time, from 1/2, to 1/4, to 1/8 etc.

I’m sure in stats world the coin resets every time it is flipped so will always be 50/50.

The Kilmarnock League Cup tie will be on Tuesday the 8th as we have a game on Friday the 11th.

  15. The huddle

In the first toss it is 50/50 and on the 2nd toss it is 50/50 but the chance of 2 in a row is 1/4

Interesting that Brendan played KT at centre half again yesterday. Getting the feeling that Brendan might see that as his best position in the years to come. Paulo Maldini could switch between both positions effortlessly. Not that I’m comparing Maldini with one of the greatest defenders of all time!

    ———–

I’m sure that’s not right, sure hitting heads 2 in a row changes the odds Im talking about it landing on head or tails each time. It will always be 50/50 as the coin has no idea that it landed on a head or tail last time so there’s no external influence.

The Killie tie in the League Cup will be avoided by me. Not another penny getting spent on Scottish fitba. Doncaster and his tournament can gtf.

    Look at like betting odds

Would a bookmaker give you just evens for tossing 4 heads in a row – should give you 16/1
