In his Q&A session with the Daily Record yesterday, outgoing SPFL chairman, Ralph Topping touched on the subject of who knew what when, regarding Rangers slide into liquidation saying:
“There wasn’t one single person ever who envisaged this case happening. You tell me who pointed out that this was going to happen – did you?
“The biggest assumption about the set-up in the SPL would be that you would have Rangers and Celtic playing in it in perpetuity – nobody thought that those two bastions of football would ever be involved in anything like this and nobody flagged it up.”
Well, in October 2011 I knew. This CQN article from 27 October 2011 notes in very specific detail Rangers were going to liquidate, a phoenix would be created which wanted direct access to the SPL (the top flight at that time). I got the timing wrong, predicting the phoenix would take place during the season, but to be fair, it later became clear this was Craig Whyte’s plan at the time.
Ralph Topping’s SPL knew too. Rangers alerted them to the situation that very month. The SPL spend November, December and January preparing the ground for Rangers administration and liquidation, a period during which a new TV deal was signed.
This stunning Lisbon canvas signed by Billy McNeill is available for raffle on behalf of the 2017 CQN Open, being held at Aberdour Golf Club TODAY Friday 28 July.
All proceeds go to the Celtic FC Foundation and Walk with Shay. The draw will be made live at the CQN Open this evening. Tickets cost £2, ONLY A FEW HOURS remaining. Enter here on ebay.

Exactly. The multi-poster can only be a headcase in a constant identity struggle, a sort of ‘Glen or Glenda’ scenario. The Two Faces of Eve, that kind of Voodoo:)
Probably has got a big dressing up box in his Toy Room:)
Talks to himself in the mirror, dressed as Mussolini:)

BADA BING
When I was a kid one of the best footballers in our street was Brenda Jordan. She had all the tricks but when I was marking her I just couldn’t tackle her, it was a gentleman thing, she on the other hand had no trouble in smacking me in the balls and running on to score.
In all honesty how could I call for a foul after that
!!BADA BING!!-read that this morning,martinis (sp)and the next new club manager also invited him up to Aberdeen,he better hurry up and take up that invite:-))

Bada,
It’s a tough one.
Terrestrial choices this evening:
Country file;
World War One Remembered;
Princess Diana documentary;
English woman’s football;
Cricket;
The Proms.
I feel I’m in the wrong demographic.
Opting for Beethovens 9th on BBC4 and a glass of wine.
Fairhill Bhoy
Takes me all my time to be me:)
How these people can split their personalities and take on different guises, its like an episode of Sherlock Holmes:)

Petec,
Doubt I’ve got the necessary hand eye coordination required these days.
Ode to joy coming up any second now.
Poldark or wummins fitba ?
All this talk about breaking rules .
Well i’m all for it actually :)
Today i took my grandaughter upto playsport in EK.
She’ 2 years and 4 months old , wanting her to remember her day out with ber papa in years to come i decided to take a photo of me and her on the slide together .
Nope was’nt going to happen according to this wummin .
There was no-one near or in shot , nope, just me and the princess .
Rules are rules says she , so i apologised and she was quite happy i did so ….
she was’nt so happy later on when i stood at the bottom of said slide and got a cracking photo of my wee princess with huge smile hurtling towards her aul papa .
PC has gone mad , kids will grow up thinking their parents never took them out when they were tots .
And before anyone comes on and give me pelters , i would have concerns if an adult was filming kids not related to them …..Its sad that the nasty element of the community ruin it for everyone else …. .peace .

If I ever had another moniker I might opt for Gerrybhoy, although by all accounts Bhoy, 1888 or 1967 are red flags, but like Fairhill Bhoy says I also post enough guff without needing another moniker :-)

jimbo67@6:00 pm
“in replying to your question re multiple posters.
I suppose the flip answer would be ‘ask them’ but in the case of Noakes/Thompson/Pastry/Quimby I think it was to promote a specific political idea that was pro- union, pro ‘New Labour’ and anti- SNP in the aftermath of the 2014 referendum and the run up to the General Election of 2015. I do not know if it is the poster of that era is the same as one who now posts using what looks to be an anagram but their is a common theme of an anti-Scottishness with an undertone of religious bigotry that I regard as being anathema to most on here- including Macjay who I disagree with about many things but who is not a religious bigot or an apologist for New Labour.”
Funnily enough, Jimbo, I came to the exact opposite conclusion.
I thought Noakes/Pastry?Thompson was an SNP man’s black ops piece of work. The picture painted of a Labour man who despised the poor and hated schemies was a “wet dream” caricature of what the SNP wanted a Labour man to be.
I take the same view on John James. If he is a Rangers man, then so am I. There is not one member of their support who carries those values or who speaks of their support in such terms.
Neither were there people in Labour, even New Labour, who spoke like Pastnoakesson.

That will be a rubbish boycott everybody is on the home ticket scheme this season so money will be deducted from accounts nullifying a bhoycott :-)
Am I the only one that isn’t on the HCTS then? Well I’ll definitely be boycotting this game and no bugger better sit in my seat.
If I was on the HCTS I would be contacting Celtic and making it clear that I would not be attending this game against the “move on” brigade and would not be expecting to be charged for it.
Actually, this is a fantastic opportunity for the Celtic family to put the frighteners on here. If thousands did that for this game it would send a chill up the SPFL and the SFA. Just think about the publicity it would generate.
What are your thoughts guys?
For those trying to calculate the odds of Ranger’s alleged 15 in a row home ties, I am afraid there is another factor you have to consider.
I believe that, on at least one occasion, if not more, they were the second team drawn out of the hat but they did not suffer an away tie scenario because it was a semi-final stage and merely got the away dressing room at Hampden.
Nonetheless, you have to factor these, 1,2 or 3 games in amongst the 15 home ties to work out how astronomical the odds really are.
