I was delighted when Dundee were awarded the vacant place in the SPL in July last year. They are a club with an outstanding history (check it out here) whose fans have suffered poor performances and downright bad decisions since the finished within a point of Dundee United and Aberdeen, and were relegated from the Premier Division in its first season.
With a latent, considerable-sized supporter base, by any measure they should be a secure SPL club. Only Celtic, Sevco, Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs have more fans, although Dundee United may have closed their historical gap.
If Rangers had not been liquidated Dundee would currently be in the First Division, most probably at or near the top. Barry Smith would be getting ready for a final push for promotion. Promotion came too soon, they are miles adrift and will be relegated unless Hearts go into administration, suffer a 17 point penalty and make players redundant.
Sacking Smith and appointing John Brown, in political terms, could be described as a brave decision. ‘Mad’ is another word you could use. Reports that (suffering) Dundee fans, and shareholders, are in revolt at the appointment, should surprise no one. John Brown’s very public performances last year marked him out for his communication skills, ability to plan and make considered decisions. Put him in charge, and you know what you’re getting.
Should we beat them tomorrow, spare a thought for those in dark blue in the corner of the stadium.

CANAMALAR
I saw the post, and while I recognised it for the inter-county repartee that it was,the blog doesn’t need pseudo-controversial items at the moment.
There is no need to give people a stick with which to beat us,no matter how well we rationalise our actions.
As you know,I come down firmly in favour of the songs of freedom and tradition,of history and culture,on which we were raised.
But increasingly-and reluctantly-I’m coming down in favour of denying hun apologists a chance to spout their whataboutery.
Canamalar,we are from the same background. We know how to play the long game.
At heart, and in our souls,we are still the same old buncha rebel-rousers.
I don’t need to wear a Celtic scarf for people to know I’m a Celtic fan…….
sipsini,
I’ve no taken the hump, but it appears our host has, personal abuse I thought was beneath him apparently not eh
‘ruling that IRA songs should not be featured on CQN’
Featured?
I must have missed that.
CamelBanger quote the racist posts and we’ll sit in judgement.
I don’t read his stuff because I stick to conventions on syntax and grammar and expect everyone else to do so.
Content is another matter.

Indeed they were, most hearty congrats in fact.
Personally,I don’t play the podium game-it’s a simple coincidence that I am on then, due entirely to my shift-pattern.
Straight up,guv……
Not taken the hump?
Still thinking of that camel.

You have a valid point.
It would be helpful if Paul 67 clarified his reasons
for not allowing certain posts.
BMCUW,
it appears we should avoid all pseudo-controversial items relating to our support then.
the sooner they get rid og the GB the sooner the sanitisation will happen.
Sorry bud but I disagree, this stuff should be met head on.
The sooner sanitisation happens the sooner the Ibrox corporate customers will move to Celtic park, that IMO is the target.
john brown is a fool
dundee’s fans will regret his appointment
i think its outrageous that ira songs cannot featured on cqn
as an irish nationalist and republican i am appalled that part of my nations history is being censored
this is an absolute scandal

There are board members that are Celtic supporters who have earned their right to be on the board due to there business acumen.
The situation at Dundee is entirely different .
The unprofessional ism of some of the fan elected board members at Dundee is staggering.
I currently employ one Dundee’s senior management teams, wife.
I have had an inside track on the boardroom shenanigans at Dundee for the past few months.
It is no better run than your local social club.
Boardroom Meetings,highly confidential information etc,
Has regularly be spoken about in pubs n clubs within minutes of board meetings ending.
I could say a lot more , but I would endanger the position of the person involved.
I am never told the content of meetings, just the conduct ,and the lack of confidentiality .

ERNIE
Not a fan of the long game then?
I prefer explaining to others where they have gone wrong, rather than rationalising our behaviour.
Which would you prefer?
anal stools,
are you still blaming the Liverpool support for hillsborough
John Brown was John the Baptist of the Christ we are to see,
Christ who of the bondmen shall the Liberator be,
And soon thruout the Sunny South the slaves shall all be free,
For his soul is marching on.
Battle Hymn of the republic
I guess it all depends on what republic, what songs and what John Brown we’re talking aboot?
Allanger when asked to expand on his paranoid orchestrated trap post outdoes even his previous offering:
“I.ll try. I have been told that now the days of the tax blog is over they have decided to attack our brand.
They want to make us unattractive to investment / sponsorship and by extension attack our share price.
They were organised today. They had a celtic media rep at the game ffs. They had coordinated phone calls to media outlets.
Their whole focus is now on making the Rangers brand toxic by any means they can”.
Allanger need to seek psychiatric assistance as soon as possible.
Anybody heard from Pat Nevin?
BMCUW,
so we should keep on bending over backwards till when exactly
the club wants to hold on to the Irish heritage yet treat the most important part of that heritage as if it was shameful, chasing British imperialism was the biggest event in Irish history and the board are ashamed of it.
Paul67,I’m disgusted reading this, you after Traynors old job?away to burn my badges….
CANAMALAR 1946
This is not about sanitising our support.
As long as the huns sing their songs, the ones which most reasonable people would find offensive, then they can counter it by pointing out the ones which we sing.
Now,as far as you and I are concerned, our non-football repertoire consists of songs of commemoration, celebration and remembrance of lives spent in a struggle for freedom from tyranny. And theirs are filth.
However, spin can be put on this to equivocate both sides. As has always been the case.
But if we stop singing our songs, all that is left is their filth.
Equivocate that….
Coorslad,
come on its only Irish tosh
Dear Paul67,
I want to complain.
About everything.
yours sincerely
Ntassoolla
BMCUW,
exactly, we should stop singing anything they might find offensive, that my friend is bending over backwards.
But I’ll have to wait until after I’ve eaten my spaghetti alla carbonara. Raw egg on top. Neopolitan style. None of your soft northern nonsense.
Thats sanitising in my book
Coors
Cheerio.
Paul67,
Can I just clarify, please….Is this banned from CQN

If it’s no the songs, it will be something else.
They hate us, they will hate us with or without the songs, anyone who thinks otherwise are deluding themselfs.
67Heaven
That’s a lovely wee fholk song.
I remember all the outrage on here when Traynor nade the Irish tosh argument, now this blog is aligning itself to exactly that mind set.
CANAMALAR
You and I normally come at arguments from much the same side, but obviously not on this one.
One thing I can’t agree with you on is that being pragmatic means bending over backwards.
I repeat,it is a long game. They have the press behind them,so we have to box clever.
We have to be smart,a rapier and not their bludgeon.

Oh nooo not a rebel song debate on here?
canamalar – if I turned up in your hoose and pissed on your carpet, you wouldn’t be too pleased, no?
So where the feck do you get off by doing exactly that to Paul67?
You’re a first class fud fella.
A pal was doing some scouting for Clyde when Brown was there,he said a thicker guy you could not meet.

I no you’ve not taken the hump, i was just following on to the camel
comment.
As i said i like reading your posts and like most on the blog i enjoy certain songs.
Thinking Paul knows all sites are being monitored and doesn’t want any excuses for thems to take any action.
Seems the long standing ‘songs debate’ has been rebranded…
Or placed in a new context…
Would someone be kind enough to tell me what song lyrics were deleted by Paul67.

That was no secret.
Put quite simply , they despise our very being in a pathological way akin to that of the KKK.
We should not in any way shape or form pander to them.
We have a noble , proud tradition.
If the Sevconians and MSM find that unpalatable , so be it.
I for one ain’t gonnae loose any sleep over it
Surely we can still sing Celtic Songs por cierto :)
