I was delighted when Dundee were awarded the vacant place in the SPL in July last year. They are a club with an outstanding history (check it out here) whose fans have suffered poor performances and downright bad decisions since the finished within a point of Dundee United and Aberdeen, and were relegated from the Premier Division in its first season.
With a latent, considerable-sized supporter base, by any measure they should be a secure SPL club. Only Celtic, Sevco, Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs have more fans, although Dundee United may have closed their historical gap.
If Rangers had not been liquidated Dundee would currently be in the First Division, most probably at or near the top. Barry Smith would be getting ready for a final push for promotion. Promotion came too soon, they are miles adrift and will be relegated unless Hearts go into administration, suffer a 17 point penalty and make players redundant.
Sacking Smith and appointing John Brown, in political terms, could be described as a brave decision. ‘Mad’ is another word you could use. Reports that (suffering) Dundee fans, and shareholders, are in revolt at the appointment, should surprise no one. John Brown’s very public performances last year marked him out for his communication skills, ability to plan and make considered decisions. Put him in charge, and you know what you’re getting.
Should we beat them tomorrow, spare a thought for those in dark blue in the corner of the stadium.

I hope for all concerned that it was the Willie Nelson version!
canamalar, if Paul decides he doesn’t words to songs celebrating the IRA posted on his blog, what gives you or anyone else the right to question his decision? Like I said – his house, his rules.
I don’t believe for a second you are too stupid to understand this, but you sure as hell are bloody ignorant enough to believe you have some God given right to question his rules.
Celtic Mac
Nice
Wits,
The lyrics to Irish folk song were regularly posted, it was a rule change make no mistake.
I honestly believe it is part of a co-ordinated drive to sanitise, this was a sudden alteration to normal free speech enjoyed by contributers.
There are numerous non-footballing topics and verses posted only Irish fo;l songs referring to the struggle for Irish freedom has been censored, at least thats how I see it.

I dont trust them thats all, is there a rule that says I must trust the board
Who’s the new Dundee manager?
BMCUWP
Agree.
As i’ve said before it sits easier with us being the underdog
fighting adversity
We struggle to cope with being in a position of supremacy
and up fighting with ourselves.
Lisbon and Milan being perfect examples.
We need to overcome this mindset.

Malc,
I’ll try one last time eh
When P67 decides I’m out of order he will let me know make no mistake, he does not need you to fight his battles.
If you dont like my posts scroll on, and dont try to tell me how or what I should post I’ve been here long enough to know what is acceptable.
Show me the deeds!
“That’s right Bomba they’re deid, they’re all deid, history, gone, come on, get in the van and we will take you up to Dundee and you can blooter some balls in to the stand you used to like that didn’t you”. There there there.

Plenty on here would agree I am sure,However I do think it was a once off,
I have seen plenty of lyrics of “rebel songs” that have been copied and pasted on here.I have even done it myself and i am forelock tugging, back of the bus sitting, board lackey ( as I think you may have once called me) Also there are plenty of you tube links posted to what might be described as controversial songs. So I have yet to be convinced of the “sanitisation of songbook conspiracy ” on this site.
In general I think its pointless to have a songs debate again on here,so much gets misunderstood. Its really something that should be discussed in Babbity Bowsers over a pint
Jude-have a great day .
Re the songs debate or posting the lyrics.
There is a difference in a link being posted to another site and the words appearing on this blog.
Oh and since we are ALL guests here I would suppose that we would comply with our host’s wishes. We should no more criticise the rules than we would be insulting to a friend, brother or acquaintance who asked us not to sing rebel songs in his home.
Having said that I see no objection to posting this link. :-)

I simply asked Corkcelt what the song had to do with Celtic. So the opportunity to justify the song was presented. But not taken. The reaction was rabid.
I took it no further.
No-one likes having a post removed. I’ve had one removed. I knew why.
To expect moderators to enter into some convoluted debate is futile for both parties.
Figure out why a post has been removed and laugh it off.
BTW Neil Canamalr is taking up the cudgels on behalf of CorkCeltic. I wonder did CorkCeltic ask for has advocacy.
Neil Can is it okay to use the words cudgels. Or would you prefer “shaking the shillelagh.”?
Let me know. Wouldn’t want to offend you. Cripes. We’d never hear the end of it.

Like any Board, they should be judged on their results ……l and the Celtic Board has delivered bigtime in a very ‘hostile’ environment ……. Sorry, but I just get the impression you take any opportunity to be critical of our Board …… Could be wrong, just an impression

Haha,I know what you mean-I wasn’t allowed to take my nephew for a pint until he was about nineteen!
He then, man of the world that he was, tried to drink me under the table. Ah,the naivety of youth…..
Wits,
I probably did :o)
there are very few I’ve no called that :oD)))
So you agree that the folk songs lyrics have been posted yet the sudden rule change in the same week the GB had been targeted for harsher treatment does not seem a wee bit co-ordinated to you
I enjoyed my carbonara. I went the whole hog and had extra olive oil.

He has resigned, but they are trying to get him to change his mind.
An utter shambles of a club.
We are blessed to have the board that we have.
TT
67Heaven..,
It all depends on what results you find important or relevant.
You have different priorities to mine.
WHAT IS THE STARS
I feel very strongly about our right to sing our songs. We should not allow our past to be pasteurised, etc.
To me,a time and a place. And I would love that place to be at Celtic Park.
But it is not the time. Not at the moment.
However, such considerations didn’t stop Bob Dylan doing this FIFTY years ago-and a shocking tale it is,too.
For anyone who has not heard this song before,it is truly based on fact. It is what happens to people who are happy to sit at the back of the bus.

Neil Can is it not possible that since no-one complained to the mods about the song then the deletion may have been down to the OTT reaction to my question – in the sense that this may have prompted the mods to go back and find out what was happening. The song was on here for half an hour.
……….am hearin’ theres been a bit of a bust-up in the home of jam, jute etc etc………………….
………..apparently a(nother) conveyancing matter……….
Fingers crossed theres a ‘presser’ soon.
:)

No I dont agree with you about the “rule change” and the anti GB actions being coordinated
I think you are reading too much in to it.
Time will tell which of us is correct
canamalar
Tae the Lairds i’ convention t’was Claverhouse spoke
E’er the Kings crown go down there’ll be crowns to be broke
Then let each Cavalier who loves honour and me
Come follow the bonnet o’ Bonnie Dundee
chorus
Come fill up my cup, come fill up my can
Saddle my horses and call out my men
And it’s Ho! for the west port and let us go free
And we’ll follow the bonnets o’ Bonnie Dundee
BMCUW you probably figured this but we’re singing from the same sheet.
My post at 20.58 if pure speculation .
I am a bad man.

BMCUW:
You are a poster for whom I have bucket loads of respect but you’re pragmatism line on the song book would turn us into Hibs. I don’t want a sanatised Celtic…
Bomber Brown to save the day? Pure, unadulterated comedy gold…
I am taking up the cudgels on no ones behalf, more lies
I simply stated my opinion as to why Spiers and his ilk will always get away with equating sectarian racist songs with Irish folk songs.
Because the board are ashamed of the most important phase Irish history being celebrated inside Celtic park
NTASSOOLLA
Aye,but the first line of the e-mail I sent you was w-a-y wrong, haha!
Miki67,
I disagree with most- if not all – that you’ve posted on this blog, but at a time like this, so what?
God be with you.

Celtic Mac,
whats Scottish rebel songs relevance to a football blog :o)
