You and I have enough recent experience to know teams we’ve never heard of, or know little about, cannot be underestimated when it comes to European football. We should expect, and will get, a very difficult game tomorrow.
The good news is that Hapoel Beer Shiva have lost goals in three consecutive matches after a solid defensive run which saw them keep 8 clean sheets in 12 games. But they scored four while conceding in two of those games, the only reversal coming at home to Ashdod in the League Cup last midweek.
They shut up shop away from home in their two earlier Champions League qualifying rounds at Sheriff in Moldova after a narrow 3-2 home win, they kept out Olympiakos before winning the return 1-0 in the last round.
Unlike in previous years, we are not facing a team midseason in the playoff round; Hapoel have had a few cup games but will not open their league season until Saturday.
Hospitality for 3 people at Celtic-Hapoel Beer Shiva at Walfrid Restaurant
Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have given us three tickets for fantastic hospitality at the Walfrid Restaurant, before, during and after tomorrow’s night’s Champions League qualifier. This is another money can’t buy opportunity for three people to watch Celtic in a hugely important game in sumptuous comfort.
Anyone can enter the competition, however, as this prize of so incredible, I’d like everyone who enters to donate a recommended £10 to the good work of the Celtic Foundation.
You can donate at this MyDonate page.
The Celtic Foundation work to improve Health, promote Equality, encourage Learning and tackle Poverty (H.E.L.P.) in Scotland, the rest of the UK and Ireland, and worldwide. It’s your Foundation, you built and maintain its good work.
A few guidelines for the raffle:
Raffle closes at 21:00 BST TONIGHT, so there’s not a lot of time and I’m not expecting many entries. You will not be entered into the competition if you donate or apply afterwards.
Enter with an email address you are going to check later tonight or early tomorrow, add a phone number, if you like.
You can enter two ways:
By making a recommended £10 donation to Celtic FC Foundation here. Then email me at celticquicknews@gmail.com with Walfrid in the subject line, to make sure I can get in touch with you.
Or
By emailing me the names of every Celtic shirt sponsor and official kit manufacturer. Ever. To celticquicknews@gmail.com
One of the above will be pretty easy for most of us. The other will be pretty difficult. Do the easy one.
Great prize. Only open for a few hours so there will be little competition. Go for it!
Thank you, and thanks to Intelligent Car Leasing for supporting our fundraising efforts.

That’s actually quite true.
However, in keeping with the current mood on CQN, I would like to revise my response to:
How dare you disagree with me. It’s like you don’t actually care about Celtic, ya hun. Bet you’ll pay £49 to fly a Palestinian flag on a heated driveway, whilst applying Veet to yer down belows, or something like that.
;)
N.B. this is a joke.

Seemingly its now a crime in Scotland to support the Palestinians.
Not it’s not.
As I posted yesterday there was a “Support for Palestine” tent with a number of Palestine flags flying outside the Usher Hall in Edinburgh next to the West End in the middle of the Festival. Very public.
Tonight’s game is subject to UEFA regulations (and currently OBaF) whether we like it of not and whether we support Palestine or not. Their competition, their rules.
Protest outside /before / after by all means but please don’t deliberately cause financial and repetitional damage to Celtic, who are obliged to comply with UEFA if they wish to continue in the tournament.
Would you pay 49 quid for a match against Hibs, Aberdeen, Hearts?
So why 49 quid for a game against a new club with no history?
Can someone explain that to me.
HH
So this Jewish Brewery team we’re playing…
Assuming our 90-minute-politicos are correct and they encompass and represent everything vile and oppressive about Israeli foreign policy and deserve the Palestinian flag taunting them all over paradise…
By that primary school logic we – as representatives of scotland; ergo part of Great Britian in their eyes – must surely expect in the return leg to be taunted by the flags of territories that GB has historically oppressed?
Like the Tricolour?
TGM –
You are preaching to the converted. Everyone on here KNOWS they are a new club. We’re not playing the new club for more than 2 weeks. Tonight we’re playing for a place in the CL. On my way to the game, I won’t appreciate someone shouting in my ear, “Rangers are a new club.”
Finally, you say you don’t like Celtic supporters being taken for fools, whil calling them fools.

Really the arresting officer would also need to have a suspicion that you were doing so to offend.
If you were able to show that you support Palestinians at every game, you might get away with it.
——————————————————————————-
Or alternatively they might interpret that you go out to offend at every game, charge you and meet their stats for the month!

What are you doing reading reviews of depilatory cream.
Care to explain yersel’….? ;-))))
I like the blog most of the time.
Just sometimes it gets frustrating when I see sensible intelligent posters wasting energy trying to debate with an obvious HUnterloping sad individual out to create mischief.
Celtic have one of the biggest games of the season tonight and not content with dancing to a horrible bitter media agenda folk are giving time to these cretins on here.
Just ignore and focus on what matters on the park tonight.
Auld Tam
The PLC are indeed taking Celtic supporters for fools.
Why else would they try to back up the big lie and remain silent.
Im not covering their arses by lying for them….they dont represent me as a Celtic supporter.
Trying to charge 49 quid for some bigoted fantasy….is taking the p.
HH
Scotland voted SNP so! Police Scotland came with it, you don’t like it, head to Edinburg wi yer Palastine flags, it’s nothing to do with our game tonight,.
Half of Clydebank are wearing the Hoops in the sun today. There is a buzz aboot the toon for tonight.
HH
Burnley78
Ignore nothing
Ive been watching Celtic since i was 6 yrs old…….followed MY team all over the place for over 40 years
So i think i have the right to call the PLC out for being cowards, and propping up the worst bigots in football.
I will say what i like.
And if the truth hurts….so be it.
Paddy Roberts trained on his own yesterday, looks like no chance tonight but looking like a possibility for St Johnstone on Saturday or the return leg next Tues…
HH
Why are people surprised at a police state after voting Nationalist???????????
Crazy folk.
Horses. ..
Was told that Balding thinks farleigh mac in the last at york ( 25/1) is a terrific each way bet and expects him to go close. He also thinks hidden stash will win 2.55 Chepstow. I like zenetto in the first at York reckon he is way overpriced and should go well. Also Got Mutakayyef in the 340 each and word for quoteline direct 4.30 Carlisle
If you think Scotland is a Police State trying flying a Palestinian flag next week in Israel…

No, the reality is that the regulations govern the closed environment of a football stadium, which has rules for alcohol consumption, seating, behaviour etc, which do not apply outside the stadium.
When there are tens of thousands of people in a closed environment with passions running high, history has shown us some form of regulation is unfortunately necessary.
IMO, this would be daft.

You can all call me what you like until the cows come home.
It wont change the reality of allowing the bigots and cheats off scot free.
And that is exactly what the PLC are doing.
Shafting their own supporters to prop up the huns
My team for tonight:
GORDON
LUSTIG – TOURE – SVIATCHENKO – TIERNEY
FORREST – BROWN – ROGIC – SINCLAIR
DEMBELE – GRIFFITHS
Hope Celtic win the actual game of football tonight.
Patience on the ball. We might not score more than one goal so don’t get caught out of position and don’t give the ball away cheaply.
I’d like to see Biton in the team tonight if he’s fit along with Rogic. They use the ball well and both are capable of scoring from outside the box. Valuable against a packed defence.
The Hun fannies at Police Scotland are just TRYING to draw out the Palestine flags tonight.
There will be sweeps running on the Celtic fines.
Use yer heids, reactionary muppets.

I’d say there’s not much difference, IMO.

Team for tonight

Perhaps :) And here’s the even more ridiculous part – let’s say it’s the same officer that normally sees you, he’s a bit of a lefty and doesn’t think you’ve set out to offend. However at the next game it’s a new officer, he’s a bit more ambitious, he decides you’re out to offend and arrests you, despite weeks of the same behaviour.
Even more ridiculous, the original officer is at the same game but in a different section and doesn’t arrest a fellow fan for the same behaviour. None of the offences are written down. It’s at the discretion of the officer and you are somehow expected to know what is or isn’t offensive on a per game/per officer basis.
Lunacy.
TD67
I have a feeling that DDV will displace CG this season. Not tonight though.
Sorry for the football question but is the game live tonight on Celtic TV for overseas viewers??
Thanks in advance..
I would go for a 4-3-3
With
Gordon
Lustig Toure O’Connell Tierney
Brown Rogic McGregor
Forrest Griffiths Sinclair
Controversial to not include Dembele. But bring him on in the second half and move to a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2.
Was in at the ticket office. Reasonably brisk trade, but surprised that there’s plenty availability throughout the whole top tier. Definitely won;t sell out according to teller (can’t physically shift that many tickets now). 45k is estimate. Just had a wee look online and sure enough there’s a sea of green dots in some sections.
Slightly disappointed.

It was posted last night, bloody hilarious.
Me,I just go au naturel. Who’s gonna notice, they’d have to be blootered to be there in the first place.

But my principles and reasoning are intact….unlike some on the PLC, and on CQN.
When i say the game is bent in Scotland….am i lying?

Mibbe been added to the squad with next week in mind. Dorus is a good man to have in goal for penalties.
Gordon has never saved one,I believe.

When I read your email this morning, I thought it was your personal review of the Veet product. Funny as feck, but it has put me off sprouts and ice cream for a bit. :)
