Use Wolfsburg to find desperately needed sharpness

1058

If you’ve been here for a while you’ll have noticed I don’t pay much attention to preseason friendlies but tomorrow’s game against Wolfsburg takes on a more serious tone after Tuesday’s reversal – Celtic desperately need to find sharpness.

Despite the well-placed confidence that we’ll cope comfortably at Celtic Park on Wednesday against Lincoln Red Imps, the serious challenges will come thick and fast thereafter.

Players need to find their edge and the manager needs to learn who goes where and works with whom. It’s just about possible for us to get things together, but whoever we pull out of the hat in today’s provisional third qualifying round draw will be delighted to catch a team in apparent flux.

All this brings us back to Wolfsburg’ a much needed test.

Caught the headline on the telly in the canteen through the night there –

    Turkey ‘coup’

Thought that was out of order by the bbc.

    Anyhoo, SFTB

Had to go to work, just caught your reply, not sure if your beef is with how I worded my original post but suffice to say, according to the documentary, the evolution of the gases alone created by the construction of the planet and how they ultimately produced oxygen when many other gases could have dominated on earth as they do in the planets surrounding us is considered freakish hence the term ‘odds’.

The variables aren’t the planets, the variables are the crude evolution and mixture of different gases to create one so fine and dominant on a whole planet capable of creating and sustaining life.

    I’m sure I know what I mean ;)

Hola fae Benicassim. Happy to report record numbers of Celtic shirts for this year’s festival. Biffy Clyro did Ayrshire proud last night.

    Immense set!

In November 2013, Celtic Plc ‘persuaded’ BRTH and Morrissey to back off from debating Resolution 12, (you and Auldheid were abroad, and unable to be consulted, ??) In return for backing off the Plc promised to proactively support your ongoing efforts, and provide some ‘ammunition’ for you, Auldheid, and BRTH, your legal expert and club go-between.

For nearly three years you have fired these blanks knowingly, and in accordance with the Plc’s wishes then and now; all that work you have done, especially BRTH’s, has been carried out on behalf of the Plc and not on behalf of the original 100 signatories. For Celtic to act in any other way have could have risked halting or deferring the return of ‘Rangers’ to the top flight and resumption of the Old Firm brand. At least the Plc had an economic rationale. What was yours?

  6. Good morning friends and welcome to Matchday! A dry but blustery start to the day here in East Kilbride with the sun making a valliant effort to occasionally shine through the few gaps in the rain bags above. Last nights intake of Units leaves me borderline for this week’s ParkRun so breakfast first and then a late fatness test.

  8. Good morning, been up for an hour or so watching events unfold in Turkey. Or at least watching what we are allowed to see.

Seems like the Turkish people did not fancy another military leadership, so it will be a desperate fate that awaits the plotters. May their God look after them.

I am not clued up on the whole scene there, so will not add any ill informed comments however surely Hilary and her gang want their man in charge?

To matters local, day 6 of hamstring rehab and it is painful. Need to get to gym and to be honest I cannot be arsed. 3 sessions Sunday – Tuesday then 3 more Thursday to today. Rest tomorrow then start on muscle strengthening and stretching next week. Will be having a weigh in as well to check that the beef has not piled on in last two weeks as well.

DIY and car cleaning for me today after visiting the parents, cook a curry, vigil mass eat the curry, and a couple of beers. Hopefully in that order.

I know there is football on today but pre season freindly games are a huge turn off for me.

Have a nice day everyone and be respectful of each other.

    Morning folks.

    Celtic at home today.

With all the newbies going probably take about an hour to get ” oot the grun” again from the lofty heights of 403. Still would rather that than empty stands and half empty rows.

Hope the catering have ordered more cauld pies and warm colas.

And remember its regulars only at Nuneaton st for parking:-).

Looking forward to seeing the rail seaters in action be loud and proud Bhoys .

Could you let your son know that I’ll be in the Blane Valley around 13.10 pm today,or give him my phone number so he can call me.

  12. We need a military coup at Celtic Park to extract Lawwell and Co from the Boardroom.

Quite a few of the duds disposed off—a project in and planted paper stories to help progress season tickets today.

The feel good factor with Brendan’s appointment has gone. Lawwell has resorted to type and will call his mate Dudu Dahan to send a dvd to Park to rubber stamp the next project. I wonder how much Celtic have paid the Israeli agent over the Lawwell years versus pre Lawwell.

We are in the midst of the CL qualifiers and we discover last seasons duds can’t beat Gibraltars finest—and I don’t mean the apes. Lawwell and Co knew this and zilch —just off loading and reducing costs.

The empty stands at Celtic Park today will be a clear message that we are sick to the back teeth of those who run the club. Lawwell, will screw the fans and everyone at the club again. Only one person will financially gain from CL failure as he continues to downsize—-Lawwell.

My prediction is Celtic will fail to qualify for the CL ; Lawwell will engineer the Bonus by downsizing and Brendan will leave. That’s been the story for the last 2 seasons and we are doing the same for the 3rd year running — so the outcome will be the same.

Lawwell has effectively destroyed Celtic—- he is just completing the job.

    Kill joy,

The Res12 rational has never changed or wavered, to get the CFCB to investigate the SFA for their mishandling of the license process in 2011/12, obviously the idea was for the Plc to make that request directly but as we learned they never had any intention of doing that, then it was up to us to try and that’s what we are doing. What are you doing ?

  16. The empty seats today at CP will be a clear sign that thousands of people are away on holiday.

    Oh and kill joy,

“In November 2013, Celtic Plc ‘persuaded’ BRTH and Morrissey to back off from debating Resolution 12, (you and Auldheid were abroad, and unable to be consulted, ??)”

That is a lie and it’s been pointed out to you before, I was at the meeting via a conference call, no one persuaded us of anything, what actually happened was that we persuaded the Plc it would be a mistake to vote against Res12 which is why it was adjourned rather than kicked out.

If you have to make up lies a least try a new subject and not continue with lies you have already failed with.

So it’s ok for you to lie and make false accusations about me, you really are a bitter and twisted low life excuse for a man. I have nothing to apologise for everything I said is there for all to read, as is your cowardly attack.

    Tony..,

The Plc ask us to ask the SFA I’m beginning to think it’s a learning or mental health problem you have, maybe I being cruel just thinking it’s stupidity, there could be some retardation in there. I think I’d better rethink how I respond to you as it doesn’t do to be taking advantage of people who have mental problems.

Do you know any one who is mentally retarded? A friend? Perhaps a family member?

An adult? or perhaps someone who is younger?

Do you know how that impacts on a “retards” family or friends or carers?
