Use Wolfsburg to find desperately needed sharpness

1058

If you’ve been here for a while you’ll have noticed I don’t pay much attention to preseason friendlies but tomorrow’s game against Wolfsburg takes on a more serious tone after Tuesday’s reversal – Celtic desperately need to find sharpness.

Despite the well-placed confidence that we’ll cope comfortably at Celtic Park on Wednesday against Lincoln Red Imps, the serious challenges will come thick and fast thereafter.

Players need to find their edge and the manager needs to learn who goes where and works with whom. It’s just about possible for us to get things together, but whoever we pull out of the hat in today’s provisional third qualifying round draw will be delighted to catch a team in apparent flux.

All this brings us back to Wolfsburg’ a much needed test.

Foxy, now that the warm up bout is over we can start the main event. Will we argue about politics, formations or cheesy warm bread snacks?

  2. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

The only edit was the addition capitalisation of the relevant words, the words you appear to have completely ignored in your endeavour of character assassination, and of the parenthesis with contents as they are very relevant to you.

As for arguing and insulting, your right, when the likes of you try to take me to task using lies it’s exactly what I do.

I was here before you cheesy bawz. Get in line.

Formations it is then, but you go first.

    Lustig, ????, Svietchenko, Tierney

    Roberts, Armstrong, Christie, ????

    Griffiths, Dembele

  5. Will be interesting to see today’s team selection – does Brendan stick with the bunch who let us down on Tuesday to give them another chance or does he twist with at least 4 changes. (Efe, Bitton, Brown, Christie)

He could of course do both and have a different team each half.

Off to Mass – so much to pray for these days

  6. And I see Bournemouth have spent £15m on a Liverpool reserve

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jul/16/football-league-investigates-nottingham-forest-takeover-bid-banned-tycoon?CMP=share_btn_tw

Nottingham Forest, one of Britain’s and the world’s oldest football clubs, marked 150 years since their Victorian formation and first match in 1866 with a game this month between two teams of supporters who had written evocative recollections of their own first matches. Peering into the immediate future for the club, however, is a murkier exercise than a nostalgic look over their distinguished past, illuminated forever by the miraculous European Cup wins of 1979 and 1980 under the managerial partnership of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor.

Forest’s owner, the Kuwaiti businessman Fawaz al-Hasawi, who has advanced loans of £67m in only four years of ownership but steered the club to 16th in the Championship last season, has for weeks been in talks to sell a majority stake to Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of the Greek champions Olympiakos.

The promise is that a magnate seasoned in success elsewhere in Europe can bring his experience to bear on reviving Forest out of these withering years. The appointments last month of Pedro Pereira, who was at Fiorentina last season, as director of football and the former Rennes and Real Sociedad manager Philippe Montanier as head coach are said by some to be signs of Marinakis’s influence already, although the club has not confirmed that.

  8. My friends in Celtic,

The empty seats at Parkhead today will reflect the fact that it’s only a meaningless friendly. Nothing more.

As per the article, even Paul 67 doesn’t normally pay too much attention to pre season friendlies.

Caught up with Tuesdays game last night on youtube, interesting perspective from the Gibraltarian commentary team

Front 3 were a shambles, particularly Christie, Grifiths straight jacket on the right inhibits him and the team, Dembele a big raw project, if Brendan wants to persist with an all out attacking formation of 4-3-3 i hope Celtic are going to get him the quality players for it, as we stand we will crash big time in Europe playing 4-3-3

There will be a minute’s silence at Celtic Park today in memory of the victims of the attack in Nice. Players will wear black armbands. (PC)

    You are a liar too.

A thoroughly despicable excuse for a man.

Now I suggest you go and attempt to take your anger and frustration out on someone who thinks you are relevant.

  12. Just leaving the house now.

Heading to watch Celtic today so good luck to the Bhoys.

Held out the hope that this match was arranged with Wolfsburg in lieu of a transfer fee deposit for Julian Draxler but that’s looking unlikely now, I guess. Oh well.

    Oh and kill joy,

“In November 2013, Celtic Plc ‘persuaded’ BRTH and Morrissey to back off from debating Resolution 12, (you and Auldheid were abroad, and unable to be consulted, ??)”

That is a lie and it’s been pointed out to you before, I was at the meeting via a conference call, no one persuaded us of anything, what actually happened was that we persuaded the Plc it would be a mistake to vote against Res12 which is why it was adjourned rather than kicked out.

If you have to make up lies a least try a new subject and not continue with lies you have already failed with.

    ——–

Canamalar. This what your fellow requisitioner BROGAN ROGAN TREVINO AND HOGAN SUPPORTS OSCAR KNOX, MACKENZIE FURNISS AND ANYONE ELSE WHO FIGHTS NEUROBLASTOMA wrote 29TH MARCH 2016 2:33 AM

‘The Resolutioners representatives — and on the day they were me and Morrissey and I had only been asked to get involved 48 hours before by 4 different people — met with PL and the Co sec and the position adopted was that instead of the resolution being voted down ( it could always have been brought back the following year) it would, by consent, be adjourned…’

Nowhere does BRTH mention your participation in the decision to withdraw, remotely or otherwise.

I assure you, Canamalar, I don’t have to make up lies. Telling the truth, while less palatable in the vexed question of ‘Res 12’ is always best in the long run. And I have lots more.

  18. Can anyone tell me specifically what players Dudu Dahan has acted for in their moves to Celtic?

I looked online a few weeks ago and I could only find three (I think)…Kayal, Biton and Ambrose.

Maybe he has been involved with others directly/indirectly?

Heading off in a few minutes, I’ll catch any replies later.

    Thanks

    Kill joy..,

That’s right only BRTH and Morissey were present at Celtic Park, I was on the phone, regardless of your pedantic point, the fact you change your whole argument to try and deflect from the lies you told, about us being persuaded not to discuss the Resolution, that is made clear in the post you have provided from BRTH, again, the meeting persuaded the Plc not to vote against the resolution, it’s like this damn blog is full of Philbhoy’s, there’s nothing hard about what I’m saying here, why are you spending so much time in trying to find fault when none exists ?

The main thrust of your original post was all about us being persuaded not to discuss res12 and you have provided evidence of your own, to show you were/are talking shite. Now you want to change that focus to being about who was actually present, the fact that the post you use is over two years after the actual meeting and was concentrating on what the meeting was about rather than who was in attendance obviously means nothing to you when your sole purpose is a point scoring exercise, its a bit pathetic really, the long and short is that Res12 is still a live issue, more so now than at any time in the past, deal with it and get used to the idea it was done in spite of people like you and your attempts to create division within the representatives.

I note you add “Nowhere does BRTH mention your participation in the decision to withdraw remotely or otherwise”, enlighten us all here please, wtf is the “decision to withdraw” meant to be about ? Where does BRTH mention it as you imply ?

It looks to me like another lie brewing, where in any of the correspondence is that mentioned except were you have now decided to introduce it ?

Your push might work with clowns like Philbhoy or macjay but I’m no one to allow you to make such claims without comment and highlighting your obvious intentions.

    Assimilate, assimilate.

Oh yes. Every Aussie racist’s favourite word.

I remember watching the evening news in Oz and there was a story about immigration and the overriding theme was assimilation.

    “These immigrants refuse to assimilate.”

    Yeah, yeah, yeah. Assimilate, assimilate.

The next story on the news was about a suburb of Brisbane where English immigrants got together and created their own “English pub” where they sold proper English beer and an “English Fish and Chip shop” where they cooked proper English-style Fish n Chips. Both establishments were festooned with Union flags and piccies of Auld Lizzie and Phil the Greek. The reporter interviewed the locals who were proud of their own “little part of England”. The whole theme of the report was one of what can be achieved when a community puts its mind to it.
