WANYAMA SEALS DEAL

FORMER Celtic target Victor Wanyama will quit Spurs after agreeing a deal with Thierry Henry’s MLS side Montreal Impact.

The one-time Hoops fans’ favourite, who has been linked with the Parkhead outfit in the past two transfer windows, has finally called time on his career at the London club.

Kenyan international midfield powerhouse Wanyama, 28, had a torrid time at Spurs with injury and loss of form and made only 97 appearances and scoring seven goals since joining in a £11million switch from Southampton in 2016.

The 28-year-old cost Neil Lennon’s champions £900,000 when he joined from Belgian club SC Beerschot in 2011 before moving to the south coast in a £12million deal two years later.

Wanyama was reported to be on the champions’ radar with the team on the look-out for back-up in the anchorman role, but they moved instead for £2million Ivorian Ismaila Soro who is still waiting to make his first-team debut.

Impact began their 2020 MLS season with a 2-1 win over New England Revolution at the weekend.
