If you live long enough you get to hear or read just about everything. Today some in the old media are telling us Celtic and Rangers (sic) are both chasing a soon-to-be out of contract Manchester United player. The way it used to work is an agent would fly into Glasgow to see Celtic or Rangers, and make sure the other club had an option on the player their rivals were pursuing.
Anyone who thinks Newco can rival Celtic for a footballer had better consult their medication. The rules have all changed, in Glasgow, we stand alone.
Final shout for the ITUC’s 22nd minute Fifa protest tomorrow.
Today’s CQteN raffle winner, of a signed Celtic strip, is John McDonald, from table 36. If it’s the John McDonald I’ve just emailed, congratulations… If not, we’ll find you.
Today is World Down Syndrome Day. For too long those with Down’ have been stigmatised, shown a lack of human respect, or worse. The ‘does he take sugar’ days were not so long ago. World Down Syndrome Day is a about raising awareness and changing our perceptions.
Have to say I’m enjoying the Aberdeen fans’ ‘Peter Pawlett Baby’ campaign. Human League’s ‘Don’t you want me baby’ has flown up the charts on the back of delirious Aberdeen fans, celebrating their position as one of Scotland’s top two. Crazy stuff like this is how football clubs grow.
For all those who have supported Marys’ Meals over recent weeks and months, here’s a cheery video from them, with a little help from Pharrell Williams.
Seville – The Celtic Movement is another cheery wee thing.
“Somewhere around 5am and Glasgow airport is only open for Seville flights and is a sea of green and white. I’ve 80 Euros, my passport, boarding pass and a ticket in my shorts, Celtic top on, no baggage of any description. The happiest queue of all time has formed.”

OneoclockgangCSC
Marriage date 21st May 1964, his age is shown as 40, so born in 1924 and now he would be 86 or 87.
Married as Enrico Joseph Tomasso, 72 Hawthorn Road, Busby. Profession: Professional Television Artist. (Bachelor) to Kay Marguarite Rose, (formerly Lucey, must have changed her surname for professional reasons), age 29, Ballet Dancer (Spinster). Same address, shock horror but then it was the swinging sixties.
Enrico (Larry Marshall’s), Father, Pasquale Tomasso, Cafe Proprietor (Deceased) and Mother, Maria Tomasso nee M.S. Rossi.
Kay’s Father Philip Francis Lucey, Fruit Merchant. Mother Moira Theresa Lucy nee M.S. McNicklas
Witnesses: Victor Thomson, 21 South View Avenue, Busby and Joan Anne W…….illegible of 240 Blaby Road Enderby Leicester.
So yep I am serious. I had the mick taken out of me, when I did not know who Larry Marshall was or “The One o’Clock Gang” that spurred me on to find out about Larry Marshall.
So in a way I got my own back on the “P” takers ::): but fascinating to find out about Larry Marshall
Just got one of those Chromecast things. You have to get one guys. Best gadget out for ages
After the game today I am heading into town for a few drink and then going to Celts in Seville tonight …. should be a good day out lol

This is mince?
He moved onto the after-dinner circuit and was soon the toast of lodges all over Scotland.
At Iain Durrant’s 1998 testimonial he BRAGGED about giving Celtic nothing during his 21 Old Firm matches.
There was also an ill-starred spell as a director of lowly Stenhousemuir.
Today Brian is at peace with himself. Happy and healthy, he feels no bitterness towards those who brought him down.
After all: it’s their problem, not his.
Next time: Morton’s mysterious Cameroon goalie, Andre Boe.

de Valera knocked them back because he never trusted the word of a British politician. He also knocked back an offer from Germany of all the arms left behind by the BEF after their retreat from Normandy.

Larry Marshall passed away about 10 years ago. I remember reading an obituary in the Herald.

After the game today I am hopefully going to avoid any arrogant, aggressive, opinionated, hate filled, self important, education loathing, homophobic buffoons who make it easy for the likes of keevins et al to opine re sevco/ Celtic fans, that “they are both as bad as each other”.

Dear Paul 67,
Becoming really boring now reading this blog as it is so obviously impartial and biased towards one club……….Celtic FC.
Absolutely shocking reading the accusations of cheating and smears towards the city neighbours of Celtic FC…..can’t remember their name as it gets changed regularly on this new media platform for haters of world record holders of ermmmmm world records.
I will reiterate my earlier angry post that you guys on here don’t realise just how difficult it is to win and create world records, even when aided and abetted by financial steroids and performance enhancing substances.
When I was taking drugs……most normal people ,if they did the same ,wouldn’t even have been able to climb on the feckin bike far less win the Tour De France.
Can we have a little respect for sporting rivals please?
Yours in despair

Kitalba….
De Valera was a very complex character indeed.
Many of his actions were ambiguous to say the least.
His legacy was tainted by what happened to Michael Collins.
He sure as hell didn’t pull the trigger but equally he sure as hell could have stopped whoever did.
GerryBhoy,
Thanks for the info regards the one and only Larry Marshall. Who messed you about? I certainly didn’t mean to, if you feel anything I wrote was attacking your good self.

Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,
They’re the finest team in Scotland, I’m sure you will agree,
We’ll never give up till we’ve won the cup and the Scottish football league
They come from bonnie Scotland, they come from county Cork,
They come from dear old Donegal and even from New York,
From every street in Glasgow they proudly make their way,
To a place called dear old paradise and this is what they say.
Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,
They’re the finest team in Scotland, I’m sure you will agree,
We’ll never give up till we’ve won the cup and the scottish football league.
There’s Fallon, Young and Gemmell who proudly wear the green,
There’s Clark, McNeill and Kennedy the best there;s ever been,
Jim Johnstone, Murdoch, Chalmers, John Divers and John Hughes,
And sixty thousand Celtic fans who proudly shout the news.
Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,
They’re the finest team in Scotland, I’m sure you will agree,
We’ll never give up till we’ve won the cup and the Scottish football league.

As for the allegations that lead to his downfall — well weren’t they just the most curious thing.

Not related to McGinlay but the comment above caught my eye because I have my suspicions about a more recent referee who had some guilty secrets, so to speak.
My suspicion is that his secrets were kept by others.
He knew what was expected of him.
When he had outlived his usefulness, they were all over the front pages.
Just a suspicion, of course.

Top of the morning to you all from a fairly fine Fife.
I had the misfortune to see all too much of the odious puff ball that was Brian McGinlay and though I have no personal knowledge of his antics in the lodges that would make his audience I can believe TD on this.
A pompous rat of a man.
