What lies ahead of Celtic, impossible in the history of the game

195

Yesterday and today people at Barcelona and Ajax will be appalled at how they threw away three goal leads in the Champions League semi-finals.  This can happen when you fail to concentrate, even for periods in games.

Imagine the taste of despair, failure and sheer waste in Barcelona and Amsterdam right now.  Then consider our job against Hearts at Hampden.  Hearts beat us already this season and turned us over in our own freak result last season.  Winning a treble treble is rarer than Celtic reaching the European Cup Final.

Moments without concentration and it could slip away.  This is why trebles are difficult and why what lies ahead of us has been impossible in the history of the game.

    Europa League .

” 2 teams from London in the Final . Arsenal and Chelsea . Their stadiums are @ 7 miles apart .. UEFA decided to play the Final in Baku . That’s a 5 hr 30 minute flight from London . Stadium capacity is 68,700 . UEFA have announced that each Club will get 6000 tickets. Deduct 12000 from 68.700 and you get 56,700 . . . Wonder who will get those tickets ?

The Baku Oil and Gas business generates 45 Billion $ a year . If you are UEFA it makes perfect sense to work for a share of that pie . Lots of favours to seek and presents to give .

I’m weighing up a move for a Bentley Continental……….( I expect the “weighing up” process to extend as long as it takes for our next bank statement to pop in my in-box, when I will reluctantly plump for another nearly new Audi)

  14. Lots of complaints about the close shop being driven by the richest clubs and uefa. thing is teams like ajax and celtic are to happy with the crumbs off the top table and so are treated like shit. All the big clubs from smaller leagues are. Same for clubs from bigger leagues with less money too.

The horse has gone and our clubs need to change course or become irrelevant. I would like these nations to tell that lot where to stick it and go it alone.

Set up 3 regional european leagues; northern, eastern, western. Set up 2 divisions for each region (20 teams)

Regionalised winners and runners up contest overall championship (6 teams play home and way).

Automatic promote and relegate between the two divisions (end of season play offs as well).

Promote from domestic leagues too (via play offs with other domestic leagues)

European supercup for all pan european leagues (knock out style).

All clubs enter own domestic cup compitition.

(Domestic leagues would need to be flexible to allow teams to come up and drop down divisions, but better that a closed shop).

Negotiations regards commercial deals such as, television rights etc… would be done for individual regions but overall distribution would be equal accross the regions.

Financial fair play would be introduced with zero tolerance.

People forget that smaller nations in european made up the bigger part of the population and if we pull together we can alter the landscape and take football back.

If i have learnt anything over the last 2 decades it is that football supporters will follow teams and leagues the think are successful and the best, the will follow teams because of players etc etc… and the rights marketing can make something (man city) into something.

Or we can somple accept that uefa knows best

  16. Am I missing something or in all their bluster have neither Gerrard and McCoist explained *why* they don’t think Sevco should provide a guard of honour? Is this perhaps because to explain why would be to reveal how undignified their club, fans and players are.

  17. We don’t need your stinkin guard of honour…

We are the champions again and you know….

Let’s go burst their fragile egos…..

I’d play Burke as a perennial nuisance and his pace, Weah and Forrest for their directness, the magnifique Eddie for the goals and the wizard of Oz in the hole….pulling the strings Callum in his rightful position and Broonie tickling their angry underbellies.

Big Ajer and Jozo stepping out and the tache signs off with a goal from a KT inswinger.

Bain adds to his succession of clean sheets.

    Do it hoops.
