White shirted fitness freaks arrive at Training Centre

911

Fixtures are out and the management team are in-situ at Bobbylennoxtown; the air of anticipation for a new chapter in a 126-year-old story lies heavy over Celtic supporters.  I wish we were starting tomorrow.

If you are a Celtic player, what would your overbearing sentiment be today?  If it was me, looking at photos of those two white-shirted fitness freaks at the Training Centre today, I’d be tempted to get out for a run, before the real business starts next week.

There are only a few things a manager can do in his first few days in charge of a new squad but setting standards for fitness and training are two clear examples.  Monitoring is not just about stepping on the scales anymore, the players will have their body fat, glycogen levels and heart beats documented from when they get back and throughout the season thereafter.  With benchmarks for all, as well as performances.  I’m feeling tired even thinking about it.

Visit the CQN Bookstore to get Tommy Gemmell to sign your personal copy of his book, All the Best.

  7. Re: Foodbanks etc. this article from recent research suggests poverty affects more people now than in the 80’s – despite years of economic growth in the UK :

Comments from Tory politicians recently suggest it’s foodbanks that are creating a demand rather than the other way about.

Meanwhile, Ed Milliband intends to fix the problem by cutting benefits for 100,000 youths aged 18-21 :

‘I was about 200mts away I don’t need a license because no one knows where this bird is. Of course once I let the SSPB know the location the rules change.’

    ####

I’m fairly certain you need a licence, so I wouldn’t go broadcasting the fact that you’ve been taking photographs.

It may be of course that the site is known about (there’s a UK wide peregrine survey being carried out this year and possible nesting sites are being checked) but being kept under wraps.

In any event I’m sure the BTO would be interested to hear from you. Either them or your local raptor study group.

As a matter of interest did the bird know you were there? Did it show any sign of concern or alarm? Was it calling? Did it take off?

While we’re on the subject, you and similar minded posters, might consider signing this petition.

You’re missing the point a wee bit. I was suggesting he doesn’t broadcast the fact he was taking photos. I wasn’t suggesting that he stop doing it.

Having said that, there’s a reason you need a licence, and it’s to protect the birds.

sandman-sorry i meant Gary Cahill ! might stick a bet on him for first goal…

  17. Much-maligned Celtic-supporting superstar Wayne Rooney will be the subject of my £20 wager tonight, to score 2 goals or more.

I hope Rooney shoves it right up the English media bullies with a stunning performance.

I also hope Uruguay win 3-2.

  18. Malone Bhoy… have been to Kusadasi, Marmaris, Istanbul, Altimkum and Bodrum in my time… Loved Turkey.. great people and they love their football.. it’s that hot in Turkey you might need to roll up the sleeves of your snorkel.. don’t be going mental and unzipping it or taking it off… it’s hot but it’s no that hot :)

The downside of the new media. The morons can type what they want while drunk and hiding in their bedrooms and never having to personally face the people they disparage.

I truly wonder at those who advise these older, decent men and allow them to be put in such invidious positions in the first place.

Respect campaigns are always behind the curve when they should be ahead of it.

Malone Bhoy. Olu Deniz is a cracking place been many times. Been to marmaris twice but can’t remember any bar names. We are getting every World Cup game in our hotel because it’s on normal turkish tv. Bars showing it in English will be easy to find as it’s a very British resort. Enjoy yer hols!!!
