White shirted fitness freaks arrive at Training Centre

911

Fixtures are out and the management team are in-situ at Bobbylennoxtown; the air of anticipation for a new chapter in a 126-year-old story lies heavy over Celtic supporters.  I wish we were starting tomorrow.

If you are a Celtic player, what would your overbearing sentiment be today?  If it was me, looking at photos of those two white-shirted fitness freaks at the Training Centre today, I’d be tempted to get out for a run, before the real business starts next week.

There are only a few things a manager can do in his first few days in charge of a new squad but setting standards for fitness and training are two clear examples.  Monitoring is not just about stepping on the scales anymore, the players will have their body fat, glycogen levels and heart beats documented from when they get back and throughout the season thereafter.  With benchmarks for all, as well as performances.  I’m feeling tired even thinking about it.

A majority of Scots in the Borders area plan to vote to stay in the UK in September’s independence referendum, a poll has found.

Down here in D&G we have the truly awful Border News which in my opinion just gives the North of England’s perspective on things so this poll is no surprise.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I live in the NOE mate and it (the separation vote) only gets scant comment with no real comment on which way it will go.

Terry Yorath’s mum must have been a looker to have a daughter like Gabby. Short for Gabrielle? Cos her dad contributed nothing in the way of looks.

Watch out for the potholes. Btw they dont belong to emdae.

  8. I’ve got this world cup malarky sussed.

Don’t switch the game on until KO, channel hop at half time then switch over at the final whistle.

  9. Interesting choice at centre back for Uruguay, a 19 year old who signed for A Madrid a year ago for 1m euros, and has played a single game all season. Maybe one to watch, for one reason or another.

Watch for the Suarez backlash if he scores or wins a penalty, hastening his departure to Real Madrid.

  10. ruggygman – brilliant post. Nearly fell off my perch laughing.

Good to see the humour returning to the site.

I have always had a soft spot for Gabby Logan nee Yorath. Looks like my kind of girl.

  11. WC Stats:

Since the 1982 World Cup, ITV have shown 10 World Cup first round group stage games, of which England have failed to win seven (six draws, one defeat).

Perhaps most disturbingly, though, ITV have shown just one England first round group stage win in the last 32 years, and that was the 2-0 victory over minnows Trinidad & Tobago in 2006.

    :-)

  12. Drove home there with talk out on radio

England to play Columbia in next round, with nothing to fear

How did that happen ? Without winning any points yet

  13. Good point on news now

Unfortunately, this is a subject we’ve had to address before, Celtic’s press department allowing the media to gatecrash our press conference with stupid questions about Sevco and other teams.

Today’s presser should have been all about our new management team of Ronnie Deila and John Collins. Nothing else.

Instead we allowed the media to hijack the proceedings once again with trivial questions about the Championship and the lesser teams that play in it. After all, what have losers and cheats got to do with Celtic? We play in the top league and that’s the only one we should be answering questions on.

So, why do they persist in doing this? Because they know they can. That’s why.

The SMSM ride roughshod over our PR department at every opportunity. They are the one’s calling the shots, when really it should be us.

There is no point in Peter Lawwell telling everyone that the club are well equipped to stand alone and don’t depend on anyone else if the people who control our PR allow themselves to be manipulated by hacks. It kind of defeats the purpose don’t you think?

As today was all about a new management team, now might be the time to find ourselves a new PR team, because the current incumbents aren’t protecting the club the way they should be

Unfortunately I suspect Rooney, Gerrard and others will flop yet again in a major tournament. They should never be called world class.

Found an old xbox game, PES 2009.

    Quick match there using Celtic.

    Defeated PSV 3-0.

Naka,JVOH and Bunter scored the goals.

Caldwell was in the team, and they still played well.

Boruc and McGeady also were there.

    Memories good and bad.

  19. Yes, Nye, good luck to all you Tims having a punt, except those,of course, who have bet Engerlund!

Suarez has been terrorising English central defenders all year. . . Keep it up, son!

  20. Dont know if anyone has noticed or posted yet but Uruguay are a small nation with circa 3.3 million people in it.

Maybe the sfa should take note and send a delegation to see why they consistently produce top footballers?

They are defo doing something we are not

Its an argument that i have put forward with mates who use the ‘ah, but we are just a small nation’ excuse.

Coaching may be part of it, but i think the biggest problem here, is attitude.

Players are not as fit and hungry as they could be and do the young have much desire to be any better?
