‘Worth up to’ kit deals

428

There are two ways you can announce a shirt sponsor deal, one like it’s “worth up to £10m over three years”, or one like “worth £10m over three years”.  Some commercial deals in football are performance related.  If you win the league, qualify for the Champions League group stages, or even Europa League group stages, the value of the deal increases due to the added exposure and brand-related coverage.

Celtic will get nothing for winning the league, because that factor is already built into expectations.  They will, however, earn commercial bonuses for Champions League qualification.

Newco’s reported three year kit deal is the “worth up to” variety.  Bonuses will be dependent on winning the league, qualifying for the Europa League and Champions League group stages.  Who knows, Dave King might come across with the money needed to get there…………

Prayers for Florence who sounds a grand woman indeed and for Iain and his family in Edmonton. it is so disturbing how easily some individuals turn to such violence.

“Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers insists he feels sorry for Rangers boss Graeme Murty following a heavy Scottish Cup semi-final defeat but says as a manager you have to manage expectations.”

Am I being picky when I question the wording of this headline? What BR actually says is that the manager’s job isn’t easy and that he “feels empathy” for Graham M. Feeling sorry for someone can be understood as condescension, dismissive, as something of a put down. Feeling empathy is different.

Graeme Murty is a Tim who worships the ground his mentor Brendan Rodgers walks.

Huns dinnae like that fact. Wee shame.

  5. So the hun Hummel deal is reported to be worth 10 mill over three years, me thinks that is stretching the facts a tad, considering their turnover is 80 mill euros and profit is 7 mill euros, I canny see them paying the huns half of their profits, but what would I know.

what’s even more worrying is that, when you think of it they’ve had a good year. They’ve decent runs of games, games when they’ve come from behind and won, games where they’ve scored well – how the fupp are they going to cope when they have a shi*e season?

Good evening Celtic men and wummin. Serious post from me. Aye, that doesn’t happen often….:_)

I’m getting increasingly concerned about the CQN poster desertbhoy. Desertbhoy (Rob Blackwood) was one of the CQN’rs who bought into a whisky cask I purchased four years ago and is part of the CQN cask syndicate. I’ve been trying to email him to no avail regarding a sample I have for him. I also have a mobile number which appears to now be disconnected.

If anyone on here knows desertbhoy and is able to contact him, please ask him to get in touch with me asap.

Thanks and could someone kindly post this over the next few days on the off chance that he may see it.

An awful lot of mentions of “biggest rivals” this week. You would almost think an edict had gone out…..

  16. Brogan etc. makes a huge contribution to this blog. He is a genuine wordsmith and his articles are vastly superior to anything on offer in the mainstream press.

That’s why I was disappointed with his piece on John Hughes (the original Yogi)yesterday. I thought he misrepresented John as a child-like, almost pathetic creature. That’s a picture I do not recognise at all and I’m at a loss to fathom why he wrote what he wrote.

At his best, John Hughes was one of the most exciting players in Europe. Jock Stein went out of his way to force Hughes out at the age of 27 after eleven years at Parkhead. That was because, for no apparent reason, Jock took a personal dislike to him.

  19. Celtic must detach from being part of the Old Firm by publicly telling the papers and television companies that we are not part of that imagined firm. Doubt that they will, alas.
