New Balance for Celtic

860

New Balance take over from Nike this summer as Celtic’s official kit partner and main sponsor.  The US sportswear firm have along heritage in technical products, like running shoes, with less of a legacy in the leisurewear market than the likes of Nike, but this move, as well as a recent deal to partner Liverpool, indicates a strong commitment to become a major player in the football marketplace.

Both the Celtic and Liverpool contracts have been advertised as potentially record deals for the respective clubs, although each club declined to put a figure on the value, or the contract period in their official statements.  It’s likely that a significant part of the contract fee will depend on Champions League qualification.

Unconfirmed reports put the size of the deal at £29m, cash that other clubs have securitised off to a retailer.

Last call today for CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner, which takes place next Friday, 13 March, at the Kerrydale Suite.  After the dinner we have a Q&A with Packy Bonnar, Tommy Coyne, Joe Miller and Tom Boyd.  We have Archie Macpherson speaking about Jock Stein on the 50th anniversary of him becoming manager, and song from Patricia Ferns.

The object of the night is to raise money to build another school kitchen for Mary’s Meals in Malawi.  Kris Commons’ partner, Lisa Hague, will also join us.  She will be auctioning an incredible prize of a signed Ronny Deila jersey, signed Kris Commons boots and match hospitality in the Players’ Lounge for the Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow.

Tickets will be posted out over the next few days, email me if you’re still looking, celticquicknews@gmail.com we’re closing the book tomorrow.

I applaud Ronny’s bluntness when talking about (and effectively to) guidetti.

The celtic 15-16 will leave the station in the summer on another adventure. Come along for another great ride. Or get the alternative service to Rotterdam. You call buddy.

Was discussing the emotional roller coaster ride that is Celtic FC with a couple on the train on the way home last night, he left me saying no matter what happens we are “Locked in on it for life,we physically may get off but no matter where we are on the planet we are emotionally on it till our final destination”.

Never met them before in my life probably may never meet them again but as we shook hands on parting,I thought of my new Celtic friends on the walk from the station.

Was reading the other day aboot yer ills and would like ye to know that I just heard on the radio that uric acid, which causes gout, protects yer brain against dementia and people with gout have a 25% less chance of contracting altzheimers disease than everyone else.

I guess that means you’ll never forget what’s causing you all the pain :-)

  10. By rough calculations the Huns would have to sell 29 million complete kits to recoup £29 million.

But with a 500 million fanbase that shouldn’t be a problem.

  13. New Balance is a terrific Company with great products. Congrats to Celtic management in making a deal with them.

  14. Loving the kit deal announcement jist as they are beginig to realise they have no kit to sell etc etc

As dear old Ken Gallagher intimated Rangers are set to leave their nearest rivals Celtic and indeed the whole of Scottish football on another level.

Pass the mint sauce and finest claret please.

    Mike Ashley was fined :

“for breaching the parent body’s rules on dual ownership.”

Has he stopped `breaching` those rules now? How?

  16. I was on this morning criticising Efe and it was not because he doesn’t give 100%. I know well he does. He simply isn’t a full back or at least the kind of full back who fits into our manager’s system. He cannot cross the ball.

I have no problem either with our manager changing the team. I think it was necessary for the upcoming games. Hopefully, Mathews and Izzaguirre will be fit. Actually, I thought Wakaso did fine when he came on, although he got little support.

St Johnstone scored a great goal and that is about the only contribution they made apart from a few robust challenges. If we had scored at the very beginning they wouldn’t have been to make their only tactic the 10 man defence.

All kidding aside Nike have dumped us becasue our brand has diminished over the past few years. The New Balance deal may be a good one but let’s not pretend it’s because we had a choice. The really big players in this market were not interested enough on what we could offer them in commercial terms. NB are the new kids on the block and we are a biggish club with the poetntial to get bigger – a bit like Liverpool in that respect. Best of a bad job I suppose.

`pig` was a typographical error. I am feeding all the pigs. I do not have a favourite.

  20. Bought my latest pair of New Balance running shoes only last weekend (Sports Direct) and gave them their debut at last night’s game.

    Things can only get better.

    Sanna,

    Thanks.

“yer a naughty boy and to make sure we dont have to fine you again , you now have our permission to have dual influence”

That`s what it seems like to me but I am assuming I must be wrong. Do the SFA use Gulliver`s Travels as a guide to rule – making?

    Cheerio for now,
