Being formed by immigrants still has power to shock

1162

A club formed by the Irish immigrant population sends best wishes to Scotland and Ireland. Read all about it! It’s as though our heritage still has the power to shock. How timely the outrage came hours before Celtic launched their “We are Celtic – and we say No To Racism” initiative.  This morning Scott Brown reminded us, “Celtic has been a club open to all people since its formation in 1888”.  Stick to task, Celtic.

Congratulations to our former boss, Martin O’Neill, in getting the Irish to at least the knock-out round. Commiserations to our other former boss, Gordon Strachan. Gordon will be feeling sore right now but he should lick his wounds and stick to task. He got the better of Ireland on their head-to-head and came within a whisker of also getting the better of Poland. The loss in Georgia was typical Scotland – you cannot change everything in two years, while Ireland taking four points from six off Germany is inexplicable.

Gordon is by far the best man to take Scotland the World Cup 2018 qualifiers; get on with it.

Most of my cousins and two young nieces are teachers sometimes they (teachers) are the only stable adult in some kids lives, I joke about their holidays but trust me their job doesn’t finish when the bell goes at 3pm or 4pm o’clock, like the whole world there are some not very nice people but 99% of teachers I have encountered have been pretty dam good people !

You have a score to settle with a zombie Scotrail inspector. Rebel songs on the last train to Clydebank were not his thing. Funny when all the Dumbarton kids on the train joined in our songs. :))

Saw him ( with The Upsetters ) in a cinema in Kensal Rise ( 1969). They were the support act for The Pioneers . In true Jamaican music biz style some of the promotional posters called the band The Upsetters whilst others called them The Hippy Boys —-.

I had to go on my own —————- my pals scoffed at the suggestion.

  14. Teachers?

As I’v said before, my education started when I left school, I’m kinda sounding like VVD I suppose, now don’t mess your drawers here and read this right.

I’m talking about the teachers I had when I was at school, not ONE did I learn a thing from, stuffed up little arses with wearing Arthur Montford jackets with leather on the elbows?

They did not have time for kids Whois families couldent afford pencils or rubbers or leather school bags plimsoles for PT.

Schools in my day, where like concentration camps for those of us who where not as clever as others where, but willing to learn only for the teacher to ignore you spending more time with the clever ones.

I learned more from one of those clever kids in my class who used to help me with my homework, and it was him who asked me if I wanted any help with my homework, I found it strange that this boy saw this and the teacher didn’t?

That boy my friend you will not be surprised to know…..well I wasent…turned out to be a priest, last I heard of him he was in Italy in what capacity I haven’t a clue, but I’ll put money on it what ever it is, he is the top man as he was to me when we where kids.

I strayed a bit there any way, in any job there is good and bad no matter what you do, some are good some are bad it’s a fact, all I’m giving is my experience with teachers, there is one particular teacher that I love and adore, my Daughter.

Some twist it in hear saying I hate teachers, fine by me i did when I was at school hands up to that.

When my daughter was rowing up and told me she wanted to be a teacher, WOW! Ok no problem through the years she was growing up, I helped her with her homework all the time, we used to play I was teacher and her the pupil for a laugh, and she always used to say ..dad I wish you where my teacher…..Daughters are like that….and I said to her then what I still sato her this day…..I was your teacher from the day you where born, and had nothing but love and care for you since, when you become a teacher don’t forget to make that to your goal to your pupils, and she has and is doing great.

The minuses I had at school , I turned them into pluses as I went through life, as I’v said before in here that day I left school I promised my self……I’ll show those B…….

Let it go mhan….it’s been 90 years since you left school.

    Some memory mind :O) hh

  16. Dallas

Sorry you cant make it today as well.

    Your a genius btw.

You may not know it but you are.

  17. The Ballymena striker has impressed the London side’s boss Alan Pardew during a week’s trial.

And the Selhurst Park outfit have already had their opening offer – believed to be around £60,000 – for the 16-year-old goalscorer knocked back by the chairman of the semi-professional Irish side.

John Taggart said: “It was a lower bid than we were expecting, particularly from a Premier League Club, and it has been rejected.

“Crystal Palace had suggested they were keen to get a deal tied up fairly quickly, but their offer wasn’t really one we would entertain.

“Hopefully, they will have another think and come back with an improved offer – I would be disappointed if they didn’t.

”We don’t want the young lad to be held back, but, at the same time, we have to look after the interests of Ballymena United and try to get a deal which will give us a platform to take the club forward.

“But central to everything is that it has to be a deal that suits Matthew – we wouldn’t send him to anywhere that he didn’t want to go.4094438496

“We’ve had a number of clubs wanting to see Matthew in action, so, hopefully, something will happen for the lad.”

Shevlin has already represented Northern Ireland’s Under-17 team and Ronny Deila has received rave reports about the pacy teenager.

The SPFL champions have already raided the Irish market this year when they signed winger Michael Duffy for £100,000 from Derry City on the last day of the January transfer window.

He joined Alloa on a six-moth loan deal at the start of the season.

If Celtic are prepared to offer a similar figure then Shevlin could be Glasgow bound.
