  1. Another professional performance from our hooped heroes today. Personally, I thought young Miller was exceptional and Rogic deserves special mention for his two assists.

    The Celts go marching on.

  2. Gobble Gobble Bhoy-thanks for the written English education,u got me,u really did so yi did,now away and walk the dug

  3. HT-couldn’t agree more, controlled performance from us,a few dicey moments but on the whole comfortable:-))

  4. Gerryfaethebrig on

    HT

    Calvin Miller was excellent

Tom Rogic ? Every time he looked as if he lost control of the ball he waltzed clear of the nearest Kille player

Roll on Astana (& Thursdays draw :-)

  5. The new CQN Podcast has just been uploaded, you can access on page 1 on today’s Updates thread.

Paul Dykes is joined by former Celtic captain Andy Lynch and special guest Pat Stanton.

  6. The feeling I get when watching Brendan’s team is heartwarming, I don’t feel as if we are going to concede to throw points away, MoN’s teams was the last time I felt this way.

Listening to his pre and after match interviews give me incredible faith.

I never thot we would drop points today.

  7. What is the Stars on

I was actually worried that Brendan wouldn’t be able to satisfy our expectations this year after setting the bar so high.

However any fears of that are already gone and its still August

  8. Call_of_Juarez on

Watching big Tam Rogic 2day has convinced me that for the first time in a long time we have a midfielder who can drive into the opposition penalty area with devastating effect. If he stays healthy he could be a revelation in the CL group stages.

  9. Solid performance today, Miller was excellent.

I’ve said on here before Rogic is by far our most gifted footballer, might not be the most important (who is???) but I’d always have him in the first 11.

  10. Quonno – I wonder if they were able to agree a contract that would allow them to get rid of Pedro without compo- or will they just tell him he’s ‘resigned’!!!

    They are FUBAR

  11. Haven’t read back, so the point may have been made…..

For all we played a changed line up with a young average age, we started with six (6) full internationals, with another three on the bench.

And Callum McGregor will surely be capped next month.

  12. Fairhill

I thought we looked pretty comfortable throughout and never felt that we’d concede mate.

    Gerryfaethebrig

Watch how often he turns away from opponents with his first touch. There’s a reason for that. He plays facing the sidelines not either goal the way the majority of players play. It’s clever but it also allows him space from the moment he receives the ball.

  13. Great result today. Calvin Miller / Millar was excellent. Well played son and I could hear your nerves in the interview afterwards.

Anyone on Twitter should check out the Bellshill Bears reaction to the pantomime at a Ipox today, he states ” just two words, not good enough”. Made me chuckle.

Anyway, off to Barca tomorrow to meet with my Catalan friends, couldn’t think of a better time to go. Take care everyone. HH

  14. BMCUWP

It ‘s all about opinions. I don’t think we were disrespectful to Kilmarnock today. We have a large squad. Brendan is trying to introduce new players and needs to give them game time when the opportunity arises. He is doing this judiciously. A similarly young Celtic team beat Killie 5-0 about 11 days ago.

As for Benyu. I thought the young Bhoy was excellent today. He was involved in a lot in the first half in particular and only gave the ball away once. He beat men, passed well and linked up with his team mates. He also regained possession for us on a number of occasions. A job well done.

  15. i'vehadtochangemyname on

Recent reports of Rangers competing in the spfl have been confirmed as fake news by the trumpski truth organisation. A spokesperson, Pedrovski Caixnhahahahahahaha said today’s game was the best you’ll see at listening station ibrokov all year and recent cup winning feats will be repeated by the best squad in the spfl.

  16. JMCCORMICK-las ramblas is a fantastic street, love it and the indoor market, life must go on

  17. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Jmccormick

    Safe journey and enjoy Barcelona

    HT

Tam Rogic ? Plays with his head up as he knows what his feet will do

    McStayesque ???

Although he couldnae lace the Maestros boots :-)

  18. It is Good the Acceptence that C E L T I C are Incredible.

    Good.

    C E L T I C

    Marvellous.Nothing has been seen Yet.

  19. Three games played in the league so far and sevco are already 5 points off the pace.

    …and it’s gonnae get worse!

    HH!!

  20. My shopping list for new players may have got shorter of reports about Calvin miller are accurate and if indeed Ajer is the real deal.

It appears we have cover now at left back. If Ralston is also a viable option for right back then perhaps a new defender can wait. Can’t help thinking that a really quick, big, strong CB is still a good move.

It’s the first time I remember us playing a defence made up entirely of youth players at the start of the season, in two competitive games against fairly experienced opposition.

Not only are we streets ahead financially but it appears that the foundations laid by Tommy Burns among others are now paying dividends.

A combination of a first class manager and him walking in to a pretty well run club with some good talent in the squad and good young players emerging is getting me very very excited for the future.

If any club is going to make an impact in Europe with a base of homegrown talent, improved performances from older players already at the club and the addition of a few good signings then it will be Celtic. It’s in the stars.

    Great times for Timothy

  21. Apols if already posted but is that the youngest back four ever to play a top flight game of football ?

  22. Don’t get the Benyu was poor. The bhoy is a player. Thought some of his touches today were sublime. Give him time and you will see I am correct.

    Hail Hail

    KINGLuBO

  23. Gordon64 – the four of them played against Kilmarnock in the league cup two weeks ago – so no. They were all two weeks younger then. Was it the youngest ever two weeks ago? I don’t know!

    Probably

  24. GERRYFAETHEBRIG

Had a belly laugh at that wan tae:)))

Filed away for an appropriate occasion:))

    Just watched our highlights.

Mon The Young Team, Calvin excellent, Benyu looks a Naka type, Ralston Tierney Ajer, whit a squad developing there:))

  25. King Billy mounted more than one stallion. That’s a fact.

    Take it as you will.

    (That’s what he said….)

The knuckle draggers should really know that sort of stuff if they are going to be bigoted balloons.

And while on the subject, it always strikes me as odd that the euro phobic unionist right idolises a Dutch king for fighting a pan European battle and support successive German kings of England in their fight against a more demonstrably and genuinely ‘British’ lineage for the crown.

But they don’t really do self awareness or irony do they.

If King Billy were alive today he’d be marching alright. But it would be a rainbow coloured sash at a pride march he’d have on, not an orange one at bigot fest.

  26. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Starry

All these players were already there

Brendan is the catalyst for brilliance

    I love him :-)

  27. Gerryfaethebrig on

    GFTB

With a big “rainbow flag’ for our Brendan !!!!

Mrs GFTB just said Brendan he is all yours :-)

  28. Gerry – reminds us all of another set of players who were already at Celtic when another manager arrived and worked wonders with them.

A fraction of Big Jocks success for Brendan in Europe will do for me.

  29. GERRYFAETHEBRIG

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw wee Jamesy drop of the centre half and open his foot to score the first goal..

As Stevie G said the other night, Brendan gives you confidence..

At the moment I could watch Celtic play every day, counting the minutes in between games..

    Oh Happy Day:))
