Work ahead of the new season is underway in earnest after Celtic came through a game in Austria against top flight Russian club FC Krasnodar in Austria yesterday afternoon. Every hour has to be carefully planned from now on.
Ronny Deila has only 11 days before taking to an Icelandic field on Champions League duty. Players need to step up, from 45 minutes against a fellow-preseason team, to 90 minutes of competitive action against a team who are already midseason. Pushing muscles too hard now will be counterproductive; players need a planned gradient of training, rest and games to get them as close to peak condition as possible. No matter how well this goes, the players will be short of their peak for weeks.
Trying hard not to think or talk about signings but it’s good to see Craig Gordon confirmed. Fraser Forster is the most committed professional at the club, so he’s not a player who needs to be driven to improve, but we all need fresh incentives to go back to the well again, and the arrival of Craig will give Fraser fresh focus after returning from a disappointing World Cup campaign.
Welcome to Celtic, Craig.
There are around 36 CQNers already out on Aberdour Golf Course in what could be described as ‘fresh’ conditions. A great night lies ahead.
This year we are raising money for Glasgow the Caring City and The Cookiejar Foundation. We have two copies of this magnificent canvas, signed by Billy McNeill, one is available to the highest bidder on ebay here.
The other is available for raffle. Every donor to this JustGiving page gets an entry in the raffle. The minimum donation is £1, which we can all afford to participate in, although you can donate as much as you want. Our thanks to @BarryMcGonigle for the image on the canvas and OPG Graphics for creating the work.

Every city, town, village and hamlet in Italy has a patron saint. The feast day is celebrated every year. A good excuse for a knees-up as well!
The patron saint of the wee place where my parents were born in San Rocco – St Roch.
HH!!
In this day and age when anything that offends anybody in any way gets dealt with, why does this bigotfest still go on and not get so much as a peep of criticism from our leaders, press etc?

Where you in the Brazen about four years ago when three orange walkers strolled in?
The bar was packed and these three plain clothed geezers came in, and I’m told, asked the barman for ‘3 lager ya fenian b$#@#’. I was up the other end when the commotion started, about a dozen locals chased them out the door and caught up with these idiots who obviously did it for a dare. Some of your amigos were in the posse.
A couple of punches and a warning and it was over.
BS made the point that if the situation was reversed and it happened in say Bridgeton, the antagonisers would be lucky to get out alive.
True story.
Confine Orange Walks to fields , parks etc
What is cultural expression got to do with girfu Tims marching on the public highway

Anti-Catholic, sectarian abuse and intimidation.
I’d have them stopped.
A bluenose I used to hang about with loathed the OO as much as we did.
He was walking beside them when he was twelve and made a joke about the uniforms and got a doing. He used to call them the Tufty Club. He much preferred our company but still supported the now defunct club.
Ok, ill walk just down past web

“In this day and age when anything that offends anybody in any way gets dealt with, why does this bigotfest still go on and not get so much as a peep of criticism from our leaders, press etc?”
There were Sectarian Employment Policies being laid out for everyone to see in Glasgow and no Politician or Councillor ever raised their head above the parapet to pass comment on them or put a stop to them, NOT ONE! por cierto.
Por Cierto
Too true! Disgraceful.

Totally agree – even with Embra basically escaping this annual menagerie, I have never seen the justification of allowing this anachronistic display of blatant sectarianism parade down main thoroughfares – purely antagonistic and confrontational
I tried to explain the marching season to my boss ( Cuban) and he said ” didn’t they stop with that anti pope stuff in the middle ages?”
What can you say, Scotland has some serious thinking to do…

l Wonder How AbOriginal Australians felt having to Drink in the ‘Back’ Bar in Pubs and Hotels around Australia..
I Will Tell You..They felt like VIP’s because most of their Mates were Not even allowed in the ‘Back’ bars and had to Drink down at the River..

No I wasent in that day, but i got the skinny of it from big Mullin, he said the protectors of the pub let them off light in his opinion, and I said well that’s the difference between them and us, he agreed.
Why feed their paranoia by trying to ban them.
Better still. Very publicly ask one of them to name any one they know who is even half interested in removing anyone’s Protestant liberties.

Events conspired against me

word of warning BT going .
The Brazen being closed coz of the Bigots triggered a memory in my brain. A few years ago over for a match, I arrived there to meet a couple of mates to find it closed. A couple of guys were standing around and I asked them what was up. They told me a guy had walked in about a half an hour previous and shot one of the barmen. Not sure what kind of shooter the guy had but apparently the barman was not seriously injured.
Protect ooooor kultcher…….you will find a more pleasant culture between a jakey’s toes.
new article posted.
My old parish priest managed to get them diverted away from St Laurence’s church on Kinfauns Drive in Drumchapel during Mass times.
This unfortunately only lasted one marching season as the local Polis Inspector Fr O’Connell was friendly with told him, word came from above that it was their right to go by the church anytime they wanted. Fr O’Connell was beelin and he wasn’t alone.
Nothing but a pathetic bigotfest. A yearly opportunity to send a giruy to one fifth of the country’s population. Its neither culture nor freedom of speech.
The Orange walk is a total absurdity, dragging Scotland backwards. The Politicians know it but do nothing.
Two years ago I spoke to a couple of Germans in a Cologne pub.
They told me how beautiful my country was but sadly is more famous now for religious bigotry than whisky and scenery.
