£5m MISFIT ON THE MOVE

CELTIC’S £5million misfit Albian Ajeti is poised for the exit after a miserable two years at the champions.

The frontman was signed by Neil Lennon from West Ham as he attempted to strengthen his attack in the historic attempt to win 10 successive titles.

Unfortunately, Ajeti failed to deliver as the Hoops toiled throughout a dreadful campaign and completed the term without a trophy for the first time in 11 years.

SIT-DOWN STRIKER…Albian Ajeti rues another chance that goes astray.

The misfiring forward claimed a meagre six goals and he contributed only three – two against Ross County in a 3-0 win at Parkhead in September last year – in 17 appearances.

Ange Postecoglou is ready to bring Ajeti’s stay in Glasgow to a halt by allowing him to move on a permanent or loan arrangement.

The Greek-Australian gaffer, in a Daily Record report, admitted: “Ajeti has had a bit of a knee problem, but he trained in Glasgow while we were in Poland last week.

“We’ll see what happens. There’s still time in this window and there will be some movement.”

HEAVEN’S ABOVE…Albian Ajeti celebrates one of his nine Celtic goals against Dundee United at Tannadice two seasons ago. Kristoffer Ajer is about to add his congratulations.

Postecoglou has already overseen temporary transfers for five players this summer – Vasilis Barkas (FC Utrecht), Osaze Urhoghide (KV Oostende), Liam Scales (Aberdeen), Adam Montgomery (St Johnstone) and Ismaila Soro (FC Arouca).

It’s clear Ajeti has no part to play in the manager’s plans and he will not be involved in the squad before the Premiership opener against Aberdeen on Flag Day in the east end of Glasgow on Sunday.
