A lot of work in margins needed before Malmo

663

Malmo’s season started well. They were undefeated in their first eight games, recording wins against current league leaders, Gothenburg, and recent champions, Helsingborg, as well as a 2-2 draw at Elfsborg, but form soon slumped.

They’ve only recorded back to back wins in the league once since. Wednesday’s 3-0 over Salzburg is by some measure their best result of the season. Right now, there will be a lot of football fans in Austria wondering how on earth Salzburg are out of the Champions League. There’s a fair chance there’s just as many fans in Sweden wondering how Malmo remain in the competition, but there are clues.

Salzburg lost narrowly to Rapid Vienna days before the capitulation in Sweden, the second reversal in two league games this season. They beat a team from a regional league in the cup (0-7) but that and the 2-0 win over Malmo is the only positives in an early season full of panic.

Preseason friendlies are not to be regarded as an indication of anything, but home win over a weak-looking Southampton was the only friendly in which they avoided defeat in four attempts. At most this indicates their fitness was behind the curve.

The most telling inferences from all of these stats is that the margins between success and failure for Malmo, Salzburg, and Celtic, are tight. We could and should have beaten Maribor a year ago. Dedryck Boyata’s late goal against Qarabag transpired to be all that separated us from them. We are looking fit, and organised, but you and I both know we’ve yet to spark up front. We have a lot of work to do in the margins before the end of the month.

Treat the blog as a blog if somebody annoys you just scroll by, if somebody posts Celtic stuff that you like post back, I am sure 98% of the people on her want our team to win the morra…..

Enjoy Cqn but most importantly enjoy being a Celtic fan (one who goes, am not allowed)

By the way am still waiting on Mr Pastry & Thompson Twin to return my posts, maybe they aren’t that bothered about the Malmo game

  5. My friends in Celtic,

Imo, there is no greater indictment on soceity and government than how we treat our disabled and special needs people.

The carers and teachers command my utmost respect and should be offered more support, not austerity.

I am not making any political point, but if the cap fits.

    It’s all my fault.

Weefra came on tonight and called me his major slaughterer, out of the blue it was, only he knows why.

Prob cos I called him out for wanting to nuke ISIL, as did many others, but he has decided that it’s my turn for his pish.

I called him out over it, nothing more, nothing less.

Oh, I also called him mi amigo, he took offence to that as well, and I will be the bad bastard for having a go at the wee man, as if I give a toss, I have better things to worry about than a deluded poster on a blog.

She loves it, she questioned herself too start with but like the rest of you she just goes into teacher mode, I know a few people on here have slagged teachers or made flippant remarks but sometimes it’s the only stable environment some kids have, the special needs frightened her too start with as she doubted herself but what the kids give her is worth north than the money at the end of any month

Thank you so much for that vote of confidence, but my issues are with our international supposed supporters. If these, supposed supporters, cost me my space at CQN Corner, which I am sure they can with their connections to our support from abroad…….I really am too tired now to continue with this nonsense. Best thing for me is…goodbye

  14. Celtic to stand strong in defence tomorrow. Nir to pass the Maryhill Magyers off the park. Broonie and Jo hansen to run their socks off. GMS and SA to set up LG for a goal or 3.

  15. TET

I don’t want to get involved K on CQN I have a lot of time for you both.

The cut backs in education in Scotland, particularly in the past 5 years, are astonishing.

  18. You just keep digging your hole mi amigo.

The posts are there for all to see, you are in serious need of help.

A wee break from the blog maybes is called for, Oh you do that constantly with your never ending flounces.

And yes I am a total tit, I wonder what that makes you ?

A Tim, never, never on Gods earth would a true Tim want to bomb the feck out of people, but you do.

    Keep talking to the chickens.

  19. Off to bed before the moonhowlers emerge. Blog bad enough at times during the day but these moonhowling ghuys can be scary when they tear themselves away from their music.

Anyhow we have a Celtic game to look forward to tomorrow and any day Celtic are playing is a good day.

    Goodnight & God Bless All.

  20. Dexter, why do you put Leverkusen in the not so nice bunch.

Leverkusen stadium is 15 minutes from my place in Cologne, granted it’s a small stadium and tickets would be tricky but if we draw Leverkusen in the group stage, after getting past Malmo of course, I will personally make sure that any CQN’ers who visit have the best away trip ever, tickets or no tickets.

I would say advocat will be first to go.

He would have been paid a big bonus to keep Sunderland up last year. He has money now so will not give a dam what happens next

  22. What is the Stars on

We need blog police to sort out the squabbles and flouncers

  23. I’ll say one thing, not one of you, apart from maybe one, have one iota of what is happening here. Some of you have had the privilege of being here, the rest don’t know how wonderful a place this is. I will probably take TIT’s advice and log off. Then again, I might just ……. Who gives a fck. He knows what he is.
