Best of luck to Tony Watt, best of luck to Standard too, who I hear have put a lot of skin in his contract. Belgium should give him a better chance of fulfilling his potential than anywhere in the UK. It’s head down and work hard time.

I favour the more defensive midfield myself, especially away from home tomorrow. That line-up has the ability to revert to a 5 at the back with Matthews & McGregor if we are under pressure, a 4-4-2 if it’s a midfield grind and a 4-3-3 when we are attacking. That’s my thinking anyway.

Poster G accuses Poster K of being a (ahem) “current”. Poster S jumps to K’s defence and confirms that K’s a Celtic Man who he had met at a Celtic event in Blantyre. G apologises for his accusation. K then gets upset at his main defence witness (S) saying that he’s never met him. S reminds K of the meeting and describes K (and Jobo – who has met both S and K and for that matter G! – did think the description was reasonably accurate). Poster A joins the fray but isn’t 100% sure whether he has met both/either of K and S (Jobo was A’s chauffeur that night!). Episode then descends into a ‘are you calling me a liar’ routine with differences of opinion over the length of time-lapse following the use of a razor to justify a description of “unshaven”.
Madness! But strangely entertaining.

Just what has your personal background got to do with my post criticising PL for double standards when it comes to Celtic and politics?
*first of all I don’t see the double standards of PL and the Celtic board and like me we have all moved on especially in the country most of us hail hail from which is why I posted the thoughts and actions of a younger TT….who was a rebel without a cause.
The Celtic of Michael Davit is no longer there.
Sorry to labour the point.
In 2007, some of us objected on the grounds of his political activities to yhe appointment of John Reid as Chairman of Celtic.
At the time, some including myself, were firmly told by PL to keep Celtic and politics and religion apart.
Over the years, groups like the Green Brigade and singers of the Old Brigade have been similarly admonished.
Only six or seven weeks ago, to the accompaniment of a stunning silence from PL and DD, Reid and former director Willie Haughey appended Celtic’s name to a political advert placed in a religious newspaper.
Total hypocrisy.

*your absolutely correct but that idea went awry when we became a PLC….but we supporters carried on with the myth until the bunnet appeared even though we were having the urine extracted on a regular basis…… I mentioned earlier about getting lifted at Dalmuir Station….I was too young to be charged unless a parent was there…on the Monday night the local sergeant appears and I’m charged…..I was on my way tae night school and he gave me a lift tae Balloch Station…..that night when I got home my da, he of Irish parents, was waiting up for me….he kicked me up and down the hall saying “will Bob Kelly pay your fine”…..that still stays with me 50 year later.

I am puzzled by the Kris Commons quandary. We are almost in the exact opposite scenario to where we found ourselves with Sammi.
Then, we had a player who had to be let go because, though he had been effective in Europe mostly, he was not performing well or regularly enough at SPFL level to jiustify Senior Player wages. I just about accepted the logic of this but thought it was a shame.
However, Kris is POTY and made the SPL a cakewalk, winning games for us when we might, otherwise, have struggled. He was one of the players who was worth senior wages for ensuring our bread & butter target, a league win. Yes, we could win the league without him but, whoever we replace him with will have less experience and may take half a season or more to settle. Though Kris has not been great in Europe, he had a reasonable game against Milan away and was a calming influence on our less experienced players. There seems to be a future coach there and someone who takes the club very seriously since he came to us.
Kris will not fetch a large transfer fee from Leicester but, equally, he will fetch no transfer fee at all if we offer him this last contract. Is it worth the amount Leicester would bid to lose our most reliable source of goals and guile to be replaced by someone yet to prove his worth.
If the right decision is SELL in both the cases of Sammi and Kris, then we must be saying that we will have no player aged over 30 in our squad (except those unwanted by other clubs who are happy to be on very low wages) because no star(relative) is worth Senior Wages.
I understand we do not wish to repeat the error of the Lambert contract where we subsidised his SFA badges but got nothing much back in return. I am also aware that neither Ronny Deila or Peter Lawwell can guarantee to offer him a permanent coaching contract 3 years down the line but we might be in a position to say that we will give him strong consideration.
I do not believe PL is daft enough to try to sell us that CG is FF’s direct replacement, that JIB is Kris Commons direct replacement and Derk will do as well as Sammi. There must be others coming to help us at European level.
Sometimes the fee offered is worth selling the player. I cannot believe that Leicester are offering anything near the value that Kris has as a Celtic player
