“I said to the players at half time that we were shaming the club at the moment and they had to go out and show some pride in the shirt”, the words of Neil Lennon to the BBC after the game on Saturday.
Pride in the shirt is a requirement any manager should ask of his team, and it is notable that the subsequent goal-scorers both have strong connections to the club, but it probably had little to do with the second half performance from Anthony Stokes, Charlie Mulgrew and our the impressive James Forrest. Calls to pride are limited in what they can achieve, genuine talent is far more effective.
At the AGM on Friday and again in his post-match comments on Saturday, Neil alluded to the fragility of his own position. Had the game finished 3-0 to Kilmarnock I think he would have walked away. This would have been a great pity.
Neil is learning on the job. He was not gifted the benefits of experience without actually having to work through difficult times as a manager. Before his thoughts turn to his own position, before our season is too far gone to save, he should recruit an experienced assistant. Someone who knows the challenges of working with a disparate group of players, who can deal with the challenges of a demanding board and supporter base.
The need for a mentor was evident 18 months ago and is screamingly so now. For the sake of Celtic, do the necessary.

The statement of the official Rankers website in which they acknowledge the recent board resignations is an embarrassment to their club, no recognition of the history of both men’s involvement with the club in particular ole ham and egg, dignity indeed…………………………….

Davie Hay as a sounding board for Neil
———————————————————————————————————————————–
Good shout. A sounding board from an “auld heid” like Davie Hay is exactly what NL requires. In saying this I would be surprised if Hay accepted the role – has he not been shafted by Celtic more than once in the past ?
BobbyCFC – Who are you kidding ?? Get back to the dark side.

Nearly all my mates support Rangers. Being from Kilwinning,it’s either that,or no mates.
To a man, they are smashing blokes.
Nevertheless, they are all huns, and not only do I refer to them as such on here and elsewhere,I do so to their faces-they all have at least four!
They give it back in spades,so no problem. Refrain from the obfuscation……
Will the mentor be allowed to bring in a few pals?
The Skovdahl-Stainrod ‘dream team’ can move at a moment’s notice to steer the good ship Celtic away from the Big Bad Rock of Ignominious Doom.
Paul67 what would the chancesof strachan taking the director of football role at our club?
I could see GS coming back in some capacity as well.

Craig won nothing at Celtic apart from a league and two Scottish cups ?
As assistant to rookie manager John Collins at Hibs, the League cup was won 5-1 in 2007 against the vastly experienced Jim Jeffries and his Kilmarnock team
On Saturday Craig was helping a young Lennon get a well deserved point at Ibroke
Very well respected coach in the game is Tommy Craig, i know for a fact he was at Celtic from various horses mouths
With respect I can’t see a mentor adding any value, it would be a case of too many chefs with Mjalby, Thompson and Parker already vying for his ear.
He can help our Neil, bring some laughter to lennoxtown,
And certainly pick a player!

Fair do’s, I have to be honest and say in the past I would also call them huns but in the workplace I try to remain squeaky clean as there is too much Equality & Diversity for my liking and all it takes is one to get disgruntled and I am facing the high heid yins.
And for all those disputing who I support, I accept I made a mistake with Jock, probably in too much of a rush to put my point across that I think we should get a manager with no previous association with the Club.
But, amongst others, my school mates at St Aloysius, my Parish Priest, my best pal who is also a priest and is godfather to my son would all laugh loudly at the idea of me being from the dark side.

It’s almost pitch black in Linlithgow and it’s been pi**ing down all day.
Am I right in saying that most of us have a different opinion of Gordon Strachan, than what we had when he managed the club.
Must admit from the many interviews he has done about his time here or just commenting on us, he has gone well up in my estimation, although I must say I always found him to be a thoroughly decent individual por cierto.

hugh keevins?…..
Is Craig Gordon supposed to be coming in January?
While I think Davie Hay is always a good shout at the club in any capacity I think Neil is very much up to the job on his own, what he needs is good players, money to spend on a defence and keeper,if Kayal has played up for more money and has got it then that had to be a big move forward, get Izzy and Commons back from injury as well as other players and I think Neil will have a much better time of it
to hell with mentors ? what are Mjalllby, thomson, and the other one actually doing, jobs for the boys, any more and there will be no room in the dugout, what happened in the first half on saturday could happen again,it will not be a mentor we will need, but a miracle to win this league, god forbid them winning it again

fancy a job as a mentor?
Need some help. Here in the border lands of Ireland I am currently observing a very bright circular object in the sky. It is surrounded by a blue coloured sky.
Is this the rapture?
Any ideas what it could be?
Anybody any information on which club the idiot found guilty of sectarian crime today actually supported?

-> Che – the town is twinned with New York. Under the arrangement, New York has retained it’s nickname The Big Apple, while Kilwinning has adopted the moniker: The Big Orange….

It really is not as bitter as people make out,but you DO have to know the people-sp,haha-you are dealing with.
I was brought up there, and with very good family connections on my Mum’s side, which helps!
An interlouper might have problems, but it’s like anywhere else-take the time to check out the lie of the land and you’ll be fine.
I’ll bet yer bro will never watch Celtic beat the huns 6-2 in the Orange Club though!
PS I expect to be in The Market on Friday 28 if he fancies a beer about 2100 onwards. Just look for the fella without horns……….

it looks like a case of letting them in to shut them up and hope its forgotten about,
