Alashkert, Valur, Rosenborg, great to be back

129

I have loved my summer of football but it is great to be heading to Celtic Park on Champions League qualification duty tonight.  Better still, that we took care of the tie in Armenia, so that familiar knot in the stomach we often get at this time of year will not manifest tonight.

Alashkert will want to get this game over with but for Celtic it is another step in our fitness preparation for the three greater qualification challenges that lie ahead.

During the first half, we will have an eye on how Valur are getting on against Rosenborg in Trondheim.  The winners face Celtic in the next round*.  The Icelanders have a 1-0 lead to defend.

We are still preseason, and therefore likely to pick up injuries, so nothing heroic, Celtic.

BSR…very interesting the two up front…butt (sic) Dr Bumbum is more interested in who is playing BEHIND the strikers, who finished BOTTOM of the league and if that guy Loftus-CHEEK has a brother….

This is the bit where somebody will post about Benfica’s German keeper Hans-Jorg Butt who was briefly understudy to former Portugal No.1 Quim .

  7. I see Adam Rooney is leaving Aberdeen for Salford City. He is reported to be getting 4k / week – in the English 5th tier !! Leaving 2nd best team in Scotland to the 5th tier shows the cash swilling about down there, even in lower leagues.

Reminds me of a pre-season game a few years ago when we went with 2 up front – Amido Balde and Tony Watt.

Someone pointed out the top of the team sheet would read A BALDE T WATT.

Someone else added that everybody would now think we had signed Alan Shearer

The book sales are a very different kettle of fish, they are plodding along, the weans book is doing great, she is re writing her first book and has a publisher asking serious questions, a proper publisher, no wan of they fly by night chancers, they asked her to submit stuff for their perusal, they came back for more, it’s what she has been striving for, fingers Xed.
