Alert on the left, the gravy in Ronny’s pie

761

I’m largely ignoring the defensive lapses of last night. There will be at least two changes for the Champions League, and everyone will be far more attentive. It was, though, a concern that both Kilmarnock goals came as a result of Celtic’s left-hand-side being breached.

Malmo’s Age Hareide will have noted this, and whatever attacking resources he deploys next week are likely to try to exploit a perceived weakness. Ronny will have a choice: Izzie or Charlie? My money’s on the latter.

Tom Rogic didn’t have the perfect game but it was good to see him take so much responsibility. He’s looked like the office junior of the Celtic midfield on previous outings, as did Nir Bitton for most of his early games. If Rogic has genuine talent, we need to let him find his feet in games like these.

Ronny Deila answered all questions after the game but gave little away. I hope his dismissal of injury worries was accurate. Kris Commons is the gravy in his pie. We are capable of beating anyone without Kris, but we need him doing his thing if we are to take a comfortable victory to Sweden.

Yesterday I was looking over Celtic’s form in November 2006 after doing an interview for a French magazine, who are writing a piece on Shunsuke Nakamura. That was the month Naka scored the goal which sent us top of the group and into the knock-out rounds of the Champions League for the first time – with a game to spare, no less.

It’s less well remembered that earlier that month we went out of the League Cup after losing at home to Falkirk on penalties, or that we couldn’t win at Easter Road immediately after the Champions League win.

Indifferent performances and results surround some of our greatest European performances. Getting it right when it counts is what matters.

Could you or any true blue nose switch to those f**king w**ks, the the ugliest twat in football Scott Brown did, have some patience Scott and wait, the mere thought of wearing that fucking shirt makes me vomit.thank f**k King Billy is’nt a centre forward or the tims would sign him .

  2. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

I asked earlier if any, with knowledge of Scott Allan, thought that he could be groomed as a successor to Commons.

    No replies.

I later saw the YouTube montage, with the usual caveats, of Allan and thought that he has many of the qualities of KC, mainly in seeing the killer pass.

Henderson, for me, has ability, but lacks the physical maturity, due to his age. Wanyama, he ain’t.

He needs time to develop so a further loan may be the answer.

  3. Mr Pastry,

For 3 seasons Lawwell downsized the club during successive transfer windows.

The last one where he bought Armstrong and GMS was the only one we have strengthened.

I was inthe San Siro to see both play well and Armstrong denied a penalty.

However I can confidently predict Lawwell will downsize again this window.

The fact Paul67 is bumming up a busted flush in Europe ( Kris Commons ) is a step for a hint. There is no flair in the Celtic front four to damage Malmo. All the Lawwell striker projects have failed. Boyata got us our of jail in the last round by scoring the only goal in 180 mins of football.

Our illustrious CEO / DIrector of Football is a Beancounter and if we don’t make the CL he will start to downsize the rest if the team starting with VIrgil who will not be replaced.

A Generation of Domination …..more likely a Generation of Bonuses as Lawwell pockets another £1M to take his tally to £10M as the best paid employee in Celtics history without scoring a goal.

A remarkable achievement nonetheless and good luck to him.

I would love to see us sign a 25/30 goals per season striker. I’m sure Ronny and everyone at Celtic Park would too. The doomsayers on here say we should “spend what it takes” (where have I heard that recently?) to achieve this. Failure to sign such a striker proves lack of ambition.

Who should we sign? Answers on a postcard to CP or CQN.

    ===

Perhaps we should consider how much we have spent and wasted on ‘project forwards’ over the past few seasons. Add the transfer / loan fees and wages and I am fairly confident that we could have retained some cash and still been able to afford a striker with a reasonable pedigree and goal scoring coefficient. Celtic have and still seem to take the lucky bag approach to buying strikers. You never know buy enough you might just get a decent wee gift!

  6. Have the handbags been decommisioned yet?

I dont know much about Allan but i’ve heard him being described as similar to Kris Commons

Commons has one maybe two years left in him so it makes sense to get the fella in as a

Phone call this evening from one of his good friends who is a Tim confirming that Sevco pissed him off and he’s decided to join the hoops !

Worryingly another German friend has stated the SV Hamburg in advanced talks with Celtic for Joe Hansen £10 million !!!

Don’t fancy that at all ;(

To be honest until the last couple of days all I know about the boy, is from what i’ve heard in work from huns raving about him endlessly the pass few weeks.

When the news broke today that we have shown an interest and a possible bid, I got on here to read up on posters thoughts on him.

From what I’ve read the boy is an up and coming player at 23!

If we do sign him, I’m sure he will get the backing from our support to excell.

Plus…what a piss take it will be with huns, I can tell you first hand, they thought it was a done deal come January.

As TD67 would say GIRFUThem. HH

  12. Only seen Scott Allan once, when he demolished Newco at Ibrox, but that’s not enough to form an opinion. I am enjoying the prospect of this one, though.

Beginning to think there’s no ‘Rangers’ fans, only aspiring Celtic fans in blue jerseys.

    This over-investment is a hoot.

As I posted earlier, not a sound business reason for signing him but what a scenario. We saw their former Club die, thought was a wee bit of retribution for Le Petite Merde. However, it was all Big Jock’s fault of course.

Who would have thought that it would be oldco’s reincarnation that would bring us retribution for Le Petite Merde…:)

Who wouldn’t want to be a Celtic Suporter?

Lennybhoy I think it was him on flight up to Glasgow tonight. He was sitting next to my nephew and was talking to fabian Delph on phone. He said he was signing for Celtic and looking forward to doing so. My nephew didn’t know who he was but Bennett makes sense.

I hope my earlier post did not suggest I thought Celtic were playing games re Scott Allan. I was simply pointing out the humorous element for us, ie Celtic Supporters. I do not for one second believe the Club would indulge in such childish nonsense as pretending to buy a player to annoy Sevco. The very idea is ridiculous.

Want to give them to a good cause, remember somebody put a link on here along time ago or a contact that Paul67 had that done charity work in Africa. If someone could put me in touch I will arrange for the clothes to be posted. HH, CB

The Green Man – Thought you were away ? The problem I had with your posts today was the way you turned on people who had a different opinion to yourself. You’re usual answer to that is that it’s a blog and you’re entitled to your opinion, but because so many had a different opinion to you, or were willing to listen to others who had watch Scott Allan, you went into rant mode and told us to go and watch the huns & Hibs.

You like to give it out but play all hurt when you get it back, but you probably wont be reading this as you’ve flounced like a big flouncer IMHO

  26. Lennybhoy.

Whether Celtic sign Allan or not, it doesn’t matter to me I wouldn’t be for, or against him coming to the Tic, but it gives us a clue who the huns are on here, you know the huns are against Celtic getting him, I have an inkling that it’s pointing to a few on here that think the same way, Could they also be batting from the same bat.
