And so it begins

478

And do it begins.  For years we were subject to ‘Martin O’Neill leaving’ stories, as everyone from local pundits to Tory Party leaders wanted him to move south  Now they want Brendan to leave his beloved Celtic.

This is the reality of success, the alternative is anonymous failure.

I don’t know Brendan’s inner thoughts, but I know he invokes plans for years ahead at the club when taking to his employer. He may or may not be settled in Scotland, but he sounds it.

What a joke scotland is, every year without fail it snows and every year without fail they are not prepared for it, I heard a bloke from one of the airports getting interviewed, his take on things was…..you can’t prepare for the weather…WTF, every day lost costs billions to the economy, yet they won’t spend a few bob on snow ploughs, maybes they could borrow some from our local town, they have three sitting just waiting for the snow, and when it comes they are out and the roads are kept open.

It’s not just the UK,mate. I heard an article last night about infrastructure in the US.

Baltimore,to be precise. But used as an example.

Their subway system is currently not available, hasn’t been for some time, and for a city of about 650k residents, the person being interviewed reckoned transport problems, road and rail, cost the city over $350m a year.

    The system sucks,that’s for sure.

  10. TET- To be fair, it is worst snowfall in these parts since 2010, but your point is correct, a wee bit of snow and place grinds to a halt.

  11. HRVATSKI JIM on 28TH FEBRUARY 2018 10:15 AM

If anyone posts on here about how hot it is in their part of the world, i demand that they are dragged to the next game at Celtic Park and publicly scourged in the centre circle.

    ——

Give them a seat in the front row, that’ll be enough punishment.

  12. If you really need to watch a game just google the match and type ‘putlockers’ after it. Or ‘similar to firstrowsports.eu’ – it’l give some options, not all will work but saves you paying anything to the murdoch’s to hear the likes of Jim ‘what a lot of…… white’

  13. My normal view from my bedroom window looks across the 15th hole of the Leven Links golf course, right around Largo Bay to Elie point.

It extends right out across the River Forth with the Bass Rock ,May Island in view.

On a clear day we can see right across to Berwick Law.

Today it is blinded by a snowstorm. You can’t see 6 inches in front of the window.

This is no ordinary bout of snow to contend with.

The wind has created blizzard conditions, and it is arctic cold when it stings your flesh.

I’m glad the match is off tonight.

Safety ,comfort and common sense dictate this.

    Hail! Hail,

    Snow ! Snow,

    Blizzard! Blizzard!

  14. Sent home from work. Building closed in anticipation of a further deterioration in the weather this afternoon. But not all good news as expected to work from home. Which I better now do…..

  15. Just been out shovelling 6 inches of snow for some neighbours and my own place, some people still have bins out expecting them to be emptied, cant see it myself,on the subject of snow clearing is it possible to design lorries buses cars to be able to direct the heat from their engines onto the road surfaces to melt the ice and snow as it falls , surely in this technological age it should be possible.

  16. Was out shovelling snow for about an hour.

    Finished about 10.

My face is still bright red from the stinging wind/snow.

    Considerate employer scheme?

Thirty years ago,I headed out onto our shopfloor early July. The building had a fibreglass roof and a lot of heavy machinery.

112F. Or 40C. Canny work in that, the troops were seriously struggling.

Quick word wi the MD,best bet is to call a halt to production for the day. It’s unfair on the staff, and likely to cause H&S problems as people lose concentration.

Not so,says this retired bank manager. No limit to temperature in the workplace, only a minimum. They’ll be fine, and we can’t afford the loss of production.

I was the Quality Manager. Straight through to the office, pulled out the information which explained working temperatures for our materials.

Job done, half day,and I got it closed earlier the following day anaw, being a Friday.

Saved them a fortune in wasted material, returned products, and ruined reputation,I reckon. Not that they were too grateful,of course.

  19. Awright having all those shiny snowploughs but if the proletariat canny be bothered getting oot their bed and giving up their playstations on a cauld winters day,who is going to drive them

  20. BMCUW & Mickbhoy,

Slaughtering animals for food is normal for carnivores ( although some would say humans are actually omnivores )

However the animals must be slaughtered humanly and no medivial religious or cultural practices should be tolerated. IMO of course.
