Arriving hungry to own the place

154

You don’t really want players who pitch up at Celtic Park hoping to do OK, you want them hungry to own the place.  Kwon Hyeok-kyu, who has not yet been paraded in the customary hoops, pinned his colours to the mast saying, “I will become the best player in Celtic and go to higher places such as the German Bundesliga or the English Premier League.”

Pump that into the veins of everyone wearing green and white next season.  Football is brutal at all ages, from the kids who are cut from their youth teams, to the greats who often slip out a side door as they leave the game.  Anyone Celtic pay money for has already come through dozens of iterations of making the cut when team-mates have been rejected.  They are already in the 1% and have earned the right to be confident.

Kwon (22) has a lot of work to do to convert his confidence into a regular starting place at Celtic, but his attitude is spot on.

Terrible news yesterday than longstanding CQN’er GG (Ronnie) passed away yesterday.  Our thoughts are with his family and the many friends he made through these pages.

  2. It would seem a Hate Fest is more enticing to some than a happy event to others .

History tells us the Hun are more gullible HH

  3. SCULLYBHOY. It was after this match that Ian Archer in his Herald column delivered the line that condemned the huns for all time.

” Rangers are a permanent embarrassment and an occasional disgrace.”

Truer words were never spoken, and the tradition continues with sevco.

Thanks for sharing the passing of Paul McDonagh. As you say a great Celtic man. Also a really great publican and family man.

I had not spoken to Paul in the past year since I no longer sat close to him at Celtic Park and spent less time in Glasgow. I had no idea if he was unwell. He always seemed in good health and was successfully passing on the running of his iconic bar to his family.

    A really sad loss.

    2 great assists from Abada

    Cheers for the updates.

Really hoping Abada stays. As I’m excited to see how good he could become under Brendan’s coaching. He’s already a big talent and wasn’t played enough under Ange.

Was served by Paul a few times in his pub. A nice fellow. May he rest in peace.

  8. Great play from Maeda, Hatate and Abada

Iwata making a decent fist of RB slot and Kobayashi is steadier too.

Starfelt is the best of the back line.

O’Riley and Haksa have shone at times but are drifting in and out.

McGregor and Taylor quiet but have done some good work playing out from the back.

Hart had a howler at the start but has recovered with some good saves

  9. Great workout this. Some players looking to have come on a bit.The playing out from the back has been excellent.Kobyyashi, looking much more physical in the challenge.Maeda, looking like he should always have been playing more central.Brilliant,as is Hatate,O Riley ,Calmac,Abada.

No complai to with a patched up defence.Great entertainment on a very fiery pitch.
