19 years after last having money in the bank, all we needed was ‘Armageddon’ to allow Celtic to return to the black.
Despite a drop in income from domestic football turnover increased an incredible 47.7% to £75.82m thanks to participation in the Champions League, leaving a balance of £3.76m in the bank (after season ticket money arrived in) on 30 June 2013.
The profit for last season of £9.74m more than made up for the loss of £7.37m made when competing with others who were subsequently found to be unwilling (not just unable) to pay their bills.
This summer’s transfers were split between the financial year just reported and the current period, with a £9.66m investment in football personnel and £5.19m recouped from player disposal (clearly the Wanyama sale was post-year-end.
These figures are retrospective and would have read hollow if the club didn’t reach the Champions League again this season. With that status achieved we are now in a remarkably strong position to continue to scout, recruit, develop talent and improve the playing squad.

They haven’t really won any on the road to ten yet, titles won when we are not in the division are irrelevant, the one won in our last season in the SPL was also tainted. Ask Hugh Keevins he will tell you. Meaningless without us.

Hooper cost them £2.5 million, so if you are asking was it worth a million pound for Lafferty to score title winning goals in 3 seasons I’d say so. Lafferty is a full internationalist, Hooper well he isn’t really for anyone is he ?
I think we won more honours during Lafferty’s time with us than Hooper did with them, with both them starting about the same amount of games

I think I’ll suggest a Resolution Placing for Dummies leaflet :) with full details.
The CST folk put in a lot of hard work on behalf of supporters and are happy to help out any shareholders who have a point they feel serious enough about to raise.
I do appreciate that a certain degree of cynicism exists about the effectiveness of this route for getting issues addressed but it is the official way to do so and in a way this little initiative by canalamar and morrisey is perhaps a model for the future in terms of cooperation between the organised shareholdership as represented by the CST and individual shareholders who just wanted to hold shares but occasionally find a cause to support.

I am someone who loved Lenny as a player , but has not been totally convinced by him as a manager.
But you are correct .
In getting Celtic to the CL he has performed well.
However, Celtic SHOULD beat lower seeded sides from NI , Sweden and Kazakhstan .
The fact that he managed it with the spine of his outfield team being sold , is what impressed me.

They will be debt free , whilst we will be burdened with paying interest on the investment DD made to the club.
This debt will remain with us until he needs or desires to cash in his chips.
It may not be officially called a loan , but it costs us just the same.
It my opinion that when The dust settles at Ayebrokes, the true owner of the big hoose will be exposed.
