JC got that one right, possession. We continually give the ball away once we ‘ve got it. Sammi not interested tonight and yet another strange managerial decision, why bring back Matthews tonight? Plenty of alternatives. We are not showing anything tonight, gulf in class is overwhelming.

What a dichotomy, a manager more than good enough to canter the league but seemingly unable to adjust when needed in Europe. A team that realistically won’t be in the latter stages of the CL but potential to go far in the EL. What to do? We could be happy to canter domestically and hope we continue to get group stage CL money.. or do we aim high and risk it on expensive signings who won’t guarantee a thing?
Mystifying setup. I don’t understand what Lenny was thinking. But we can change it and we have 45 minutes to restore pride. Mooooooooon the hoops!

Totally agree with you re Gerard Piquet, a class act, both for Barca and Spain, and the medals to prove it. Great role model for any young CB.

The only thing unusual or causal, about the selection is that wee Jamesie is in Glasgow.
Mulgrew can’t be fit, and the Matthews gamble failed.
We are outclassed regardless of who NFL picked.
Getting battered here but it says more about Barcelona than us.

You couldn’t even attempt to work out our set up or tactics.

Seems some lads have had issues with their tickets tonight despite assurances they wouldn’t. Interesting to hear what JPT has to say about that.
I for one am glad that we have tried to do something different and have set up to play a more expansive style. I appreciate the argument that it may be not to clever againzt such as Barca but this about learning. I bliesve weve suffered froma combination of individual errors and a poor referee leaninv towards the big side.
Have beenabig believer in Sammi but afraid he looks as though in his mindthat it, stime to move on.

Still lets our ghuys see the standard that they should be striving for …….. Only positive is hopefully we can put the experience to good use against inferior opposition.

Where to start with that? Absolutely clueless team selection and team formation by Neil Lennon for starters. Starting places for Sammi, Dirk and Mathews incredible. Packing a defence in the middle, leaving Lustig and Mathews hopelessly exposed out wide? Sammi trying to beat 4 players with pace he no longer has every time he gets the ball? Backing off their midfielders and allowing them all the time in the world to play the ball forward. Constant ball watching as they take the ball down our wide areas (Biton, Ledley, Efe, Virgil, Lustig all guilty)
We are hopelessly out of our depth at this level led by a coach who has no idea how to cope with teams like Barca. SPL is his level unfortunately.
We have played so well in the last 2 games, so why not throw caution to the wind and approach this game in the same way?

Sorry to say that Barca dont take their foot off the gas in situations like this- they go for the jugular- could be a real pasting and I will be happy if we can keep it to 3- poor team selection and too slow to consider making changes

Getting grubbed is one thing but Neil Lennon again putting Boerrigter on the right wing is absolutely doing my nut in.
this is horrible to watch, so many things are wrong here tonite. I agree with many on here Sammy has been atrocious, he is hanging Adam Matthews out to dry. too many of our players are not looking for a pass, instead it looks like they are hiding. What does Neil say or do now that will make any significant difference? I know it is Barca, but we are gifting everything to a team who require no addition help.
Can we avoid the follow on?

Agree, but the choices for a player playing up front in a game like this are harsh – either he has the pace and ability to take a long ball/through pass to get through on goal, or he has the ability to hold up play until other players come up in support.
I’ve said enough about Pukki in the past, but any attributes he does have are not aligned to that role.
we all know the philosophy is to buy just enough to win the domestic league and progress to the champion’s league to make the money – what is the limit – when the brand of Celtic gets damaged will this be the catalyst for a bit of spending – forget it – take your medicine and move on – by the way – Christmas special offers in the superstore – call yourself a fan – get your cash out

Barca are different class. Constantly passing to feet, first touch exceptional. You never see them running 10 yards for a ball.
Hard to be to critical of the players, or manager.
We really have no business being in the champions league, the summers shopping fiasco proves beyond doubt we have zero ambition to compete at this level, so no surprise that when away from home to one of the best teams on the planet we get a bit of a kicking.
We’ve some good young players at the club but we are a million miles from this level.
Go easy on the bhoys in green, my ghod they need our support in the next 45!

Circumstances dictate we have fielded our poorest squad ever in the CL this season, just exactly what those circumstances are is the 1 million pound question.
Wee James might not be there tonight but he’s obviously lent Sammi his “when you lose the ball just stand there with your arms in the air pretending you’ve been fouled” routine.
