Be careful for who we wish for

Dinamo Zagreb
Ludogorets Razgrad
Kobenhavn
Hapoel Beer-Sheva

Dundalk

The story of the third round wasn’t Dundalk’s magnificent win over BATE Borisov (Uefa coefficient points: 34), it was Hapoel Be’er-Sheva’s incredible defeat of Olympiakos (Uefa coefficient points: 70).

Only Manchester City, Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk were higher seeded in the qualifying competition than Olympiakos.  The lesson here is that pretty much anything can happen in the qualifiers.  From the above list, I’d bite your hand off for Dundalk or Hapoel, but all five of them are on the verge of Champions League qualification on merit.  We should be careful for who we wish for.

Good to see the UEFA officials recognising Celtic’s status as former champions. If only they were allowed to say “GIRFUY zombies”.

  4. By the way, funny we were talking about Chelsea’s academy

The dangerman for Hapoel Be’er Sheva is Ben Sahar.

He was quite a sought after youngster who Chelsea signed. They loaned him out season after season. He’s since become a bit nomadic with 12 clubs over his career at the age of 26.
