Being there

1087

I’m sure many of you will remember the home game against Dundee in April 2001. We needed a win to be able to secure the title the following week, at home, against St Mirren. After the game Martin O’Neill sounded irritated at the anxiety in the crowd, oblivious to the fact that the loss of a late goal would have denied many of us the opportunity to be there when the title was won.

If you’ve been there for the highs (Aberdeen) and lows (Kilmarnock) of the league season you’ve earned a ticket to the party. Let’s hope the SPL deliver a home game next, as reported.

Apologies for the extended downtime yesterday. Plans are afoot for five new servers to load-balance CQN (which sounds a lot right now but we’ve had similar thoughts before).

Let the record show that the death of Margaret Thatcher brought CQN down longer than when Rangers did the decent thing. Was hearing the news a ‘JFK moment’? I was in the wee room at the time, a treat for all the senses, so I’m not sure how my memory will handle the situation…. mostly audio.

My brother and i sat and watched it, we were only very young at the time. I cannot even remember what channel it was shown? Ch4?

But i will never forget the following match. My jaw hit the floor when Larry Bird stole the ball from a lineball from Detroit. We ran screaming through the house because Celtic won!!

Thanks for that post @ 19:12, It got me remembering the sacrifices and bravery of Bobby and the others made in the face of that heartless, callous woman.

Skint members the Ole Blue Knights I think and that’s always been the problem, by the time Challs and The MBB are finished there will be nothing left to save, just a picture of Sally and Wally standing outside the Asbestos dome photoshopped with the caption-

“Where did it all go wrong?”

  6. Alistair will say he was duped by Green just like Sir David Edward Murray was duped by Whyte.

Is it too much to hope that the next buyer/duper will be called Gold?

hen1rik-The Blue Knights ready for a comeback, being fed by Jabba?

I reckon it’s unlikely Jacko would have printed that story yesterday without his input.

  8. If Chic is putting the boot into Challs whilst trying to save the… ermmm… ‘dignity’? of The Obese Paul Le Guen…

Then I would put my money on certain members of our great and good sports journalism community having been briefed and steered.

Now where oh where does that leave that corpulent, sinking ship boarding, tub thumping Jabba La Shed????

A big well done to mrs tet.

I’ve not had time to read back so the repost was a good idea.

The kindness you an mrs tet showed to the young girl will be rewarded.

    Hail Hail.

CH4 were great for these ‘Other’ sports. Used to watch the Seria A when they had it on too.

Never watched the Baseball. Loved the basketball and still keep an eye on the Celtic’s. Used to go to the home matches in the Garden when i lived in Boston for a year. Good times, quaffing dubious American beer!

Ally Absolutely is a ‘yes’ man. He was a ‘yes’ man for the Whyte Knight and he’s simply TUPE’d over to Charlatan Green.

The man with no surname is a non-executive director at Sevco – he is supposed to ensure the new club is in safe hands.

We all know the Bombur is a mad as a lorry, but he is no arsh-licker.

  14. TET – Great poem, Mrs TET is very talented indeed; was it actually her that did the swimming pool????

have you managed to hook up with ACGR? I look forward to seeing him on the 27th get together of CQN’rs:0)

  15. My son’s friends were in Dortmund last year and ran into one of the Dortmund players, Kevin Grosskreutz, in a nightclub. Anyways, Kevin revels to them that he is a big Celtic fan, though primarily a Dortmund boy and fan of the team he plays for.

He revealed this even though only one o my son’s pals was a Tim and the group included a Sevcovian and a Motherwell fan.

If there really are guys like Dan Agger and Kevin Grosskreutz out there, maybe we need to find out about them before they make it too big.

I think for any and every nation, it’s reasonable to expect a wide variety of opinions and actions after the death of such a polarising individual as MT.

For myself, it was sufficient to visit a graveside and say, “..she’s gone dad, you can rest in even more peace now…”

I hope that, if the authorities prepare to present a ceremony on her behalf at the Scottish Cup semi-finals, then there’s time for our activists to arrange a repeat of the memorable red-card protest.

    I was her idea if the truth be told, she saw a pool with a Barca crest in it, and thought that she would like a Celtic one on ours, and she got one >}

Met ACGR a few weeks ago, top bhoy, you will enjoy his company for sure.

    Thanks

  19. A Trialist scored for the U20 team today. Must be a prospect for Celtic to take them all that way for a game.

  20. Tim Malone Will Tell on

Pretty amazing stuff – you can bet that once STV are getting tore intae Green then hes definitely finished.

For all the grand conspiracy theorists, all I can say is that I don’t see how anyone can legally just step in and mop up. Green can’t sell, Whyte might have some claim to the assets, Duff & Phelps could see one of their number heading to jail, BDO could rule the whole game is a bogey.

For sure, someone will step in at some stage but we seem to be a log way from that – meanwhile, Green looks like he’s on the next stage out of Dodge City – chased by the SMSM and hun hordes.

    Good fun…
