Being there

1087

I’m sure many of you will remember the home game against Dundee in April 2001. We needed a win to be able to secure the title the following week, at home, against St Mirren. After the game Martin O’Neill sounded irritated at the anxiety in the crowd, oblivious to the fact that the loss of a late goal would have denied many of us the opportunity to be there when the title was won.

If you’ve been there for the highs (Aberdeen) and lows (Kilmarnock) of the league season you’ve earned a ticket to the party. Let’s hope the SPL deliver a home game next, as reported.

Apologies for the extended downtime yesterday. Plans are afoot for five new servers to load-balance CQN (which sounds a lot right now but we’ve had similar thoughts before).

Let the record show that the death of Margaret Thatcher brought CQN down longer than when Rangers did the decent thing. Was hearing the news a ‘JFK moment’? I was in the wee room at the time, a treat for all the senses, so I’m not sure how my memory will handle the situation…. mostly audio.

Which reminds me of a joke ACGR put on here a while back.

Drunk guy wanders into the bedroom wi a chicken under his arm. he wife wakes up,gives him hell, and he says

“This is the pig I’ve been sleeping with for twenty years”

She shouts “You’re drunk!! That’s a bloody chicken!!!!!”

    He replies….

“Shut it,you-I was talking to the chicken!”

Typical SFA, just as our bhoys get used to playing every Sunday lunchtime, the bar stewards change the final kick off time to 3.00pm.

I was at that game in March 74. It was actually the 4th Sunday game at CP as a result of the 3 Day week. First was v Clydebank ( attendance c30000) v Stirling Albion ( 23000 on same day as RFC played Dundee at Ibrox in front of 55000 plus) and Dundee in front of over 40000. Particularly fond memories of the Albion game which we won 6-1 whilst Huns crashed out 3-0. Much rejoicing in the Jungle!

Can’t help but agree with comments re tv ruining the game – though I have always thought that the games that are broadcast live should be shown at 3pm on Saturday. Midweek games are shown whilst other games are played with no clear effect on attendances. Why not on a Saturday?

  6. It’s getting interesting.

I predict Green and Whyte rolling about at Murray Park before the week is out like two tramps fighting over the dregs of a half empty can of warm lager!

  7. I’m surprised that Ticketus can claim that they didn’t know about Craig Whyte’s past.

Surely if you are considering lending someone £18M you can be expected to do a bit of due diligence on them first?

  8. Heard a wee rumour that Celtic have a semi final this weekend against Dundee Utd anyone can confirm wether this is true or not

  9. Blindlemonchitlin on

Re Ticketus having a role, if Craigy Bhoy goes bankrupt won’t his trustee have the option of pursuing any claim or litigation he, Craig, might have begun or contemplated?

By that I mean that if CW has an arguable claim against CG for the return of or a share in a business worth £50m+, wouldn’t that then vest in his trustee, who has a duty to realize as much as he or she can for Craig’s creditors?

Remember Duff and Duffer, as administrators for Oldco suing Craig’s Solicitors for money in their Account? (How did that work out for ya lads?)

And, forebye, wouldn’t Ticketus, in that scenario, holding a worthless decree against CW and staring at the thick end of £20m down the pan, be keen to ensure that if there was ANY prospect of them geting cash from ANYONE, be very keen indeed to pursue ALL avenues?

Hope among the unwashed that Craig’s reverse v ticketus gets them off the hook and into the land of milk and honey sorely misplaced, methinks.

    What fun this all is.

I see Fraser Forster has said he’d like to go back to Newcastle (ONE DAY) because he has “unfinished business” there.

A fair admission, not a I want to leave that it will be put about shortly.

A part of me would love to see Pardew pay at least double what Celtic paid to get him.

  11. Another question to ask of course, if CW’s claims are entirely false and are having a negative impact on the share price, why isn’t green taking whyte to court?

What, for the game you were telling us all you had a ticket for weeks ago?

    That the one?

  14. Does The Ticketus court victory shed any light on

How Craig got the loan? Who acted as his security? When did the loan start?

    Assets offered as security?

If Craig owns Sevco5088 and Charlie ‘fasteye’ Green owns Sevcoscotland

surely that duality highlights dishonesty at the new clubs registration at the S.F.A

Surely if you are an investor whose money Ticketus pumped into rangers and they state they did not do background checks, they are wide open for a claim against them.

Five remaining games; five lunchtime kick offs. And they wonder why attendances are dropping.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

On the fan cencus thingy I was asked what would make me give up my season tickets.

Easy………………early kick offs – particularly early Sunday kick offs (Takes me 3 hours and a tank of diesel per game).

Seems like they have just convinced me to become who they are pandering to, I’ll be saving a fortune next season, probably pack it in except for the odd game on Saturday 3pm.

And improve his wonderful cup record. Don’t forget that. That 10 Million might actually get him the Ramsden Cup.

  18. Gordon J,

that bit is puzzling me also….’we were shocked to learn he had previous etc’ doesn’t sound awfy business-like when millions are involved.

  19. GordonJ – The article seems to suggest that CW should have mentioned the director ban during Ticketus’ due diligence process.

In my experience due diligence is the responsibility of the party taking on the risk to satisfy themselves without the mere reliance on the word of the other party. I imagine they asked CW about his director status and closed the issue upon his response, or lack of.

I can’t believe such information wouldn’t be available on record for a party to truly perform their own due diligence, rather than rely on the word of the loanee.
