Best of luck Brendan and thanks for the trebles

914

If I’m being magnanimous, Brendan made no secret of the fact that he wanted to return to the English Premier League.  When he was here, he won everything available to him domestically and proved that you can please all of the people all of the time.  We want managers to be ambitious, honest and successful and that’s what we got.

It rankles that his timing was so poor, a day before we visit Tynecastle on league duty and five days before we visit Easter Road in the Cup.  Brendan saw little compensation in Moussa Dembele’s success here, or ambition, when he engineered his exit at a bad time for the manager, the same is true now.  Celtic knew nothing of this before yesterday and have a major job on their hands to ensure the quest for the treble treble remains on course.

Neil Lennon is likely to be announced as interim manager.  We are fortunate to have as an experienced hand available.  If anyone knows how to take a Celtic team to Edinburgh, it’s Neil.  Plans for next season will continue in the background, but Neil will be asked to deliver the treble and nothing will be allowed to distract him or the players from that objective.

I have heard from a few CQN’ers who are surprised today, but we should know better.  This is football, managers and players are highly paid professionals, all the badge thumping in the world does not change that.  Exceptions are rare.

Best of luck to you, Brendan, and thanks for the trebles.  You could have held out for better than Leicester, but there’s every chance you’ll keep them in the division for many years.

  1. CATMAN:

When I got your text last asking if I heard, I hadn’t but replied BR to Leicester. I too posted last night that your information is way above mine with your accuracy. I like you wish it was one you didn’t have to post.

    Until we meet again…

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  2. I was never one for the whole ’10 in a row’ thing

But surely if anyone should lead us there its Neil Lennon

  3. GreeninbingleyinOslo on

“I’d just like to say that I’m very privileged and honoured to be here as the manager,” Rodgers said.

“I was born into a Leicester City family, where me da and me would race each other home after our vital yet understated charity work every Saturday to see how the Foxes had got on.

“I promise that I’ll give my life – give my life, did ye get that bit? – to making the fans proud of their team and proud of their club, and I look forward to working with them because together I am much, much richer.”

    Beware, Leicester City fans, beware.

Those that slated you last night for intimating that BR was off , should come back on and apologise to you.

    You clearly have good contacts.

Thank’s for letting some of the Celtic support know.

  5. Timing is everything when you see the Leicester fixtures coming up.

Brighton, Watford, Fulham, Burnley, Bournemouth, Huddersfield, Newcastle and West Ham.

    No daft Brendan

  6. glendalystonsils on

I will make a point of never watching Leicester , never taking any interest in their results and taking no interest whatsoever in Rodgers future career.

And I sincerely hope he doesn’t come away with any guff about always looking out for our results on a Saturday.

    C`mon the Brighton !!!!

    :-)

    C` mon you boys in ? .

  8. Irrespective of the mutual recriminations, and knashing of teeth, the bottom line over today’s events is that it is another amateurish debacle at executive level, of which wouldn’t be tolerated in similar organizations of Celtic’s size.

After the summer transfer failure, and today’s PR disaster in quick succession, surely heads must roll?

  9. I’m just glad I stopped reading his book after about 4 chapters because I thought he was so far up his own arse it must have hurt just for him to sit down ?

  10. AuroraBorealis79 on

    Why now; why Leicester?

Why go to Leicester now knowing that the Chelsea job will be available in the summer, if not a few weeks time?

Do we deserve to know the truth?

  11. this is my dream job, but the call of the former English champions proved too much, ,sorry Brendan the more I think about it the worse it gets, you will never ever have 10,000 fans turning up at your investiture like you seen at celtic park,,hell mend you.hh.

  12. I am not that bothered about BR leaving because it was obvious he was for the off last summer. Better to get it out of the way now and give NL the opportunity to drive for number 8. I was more worried about the 8 with BR detached attitude. NL will make us a bit more direct when needed(even the Huns can panel teams thus way)

I am very confident of the 8 now

My main worry is tomorrow, big risk of dropped points in the aftermath.

Players need to step up tomorrow as a group

We are all big bhoys on here. No running off from me and no apologies needed from anyone.

I post when I think I have something of interest for fellow Celtic supporters. If some think I am trying to be some big shot then they are way off the mark. I like most would rather get my news good or bad from a good Celtic site rather than spin from the MSM

  14. I hope the fans sing their hearts out for Lennon tomorrow night.

A lot of the players must feel leaderless, knowing nothing of Celtic before Rodgers. They will need Brown to steel them.

Do you honestly think Rodgers gave a flying f”$k about the Hearts game ? The Cup ?

He is not ambitous, if he was he would be going for a top 6 team in the epl.

    He is a spiv.

    Brendan Rodgers

    Brendan Rodgers

You have heard us calling in the night

    But you screwed us

    Just like Judas

Now you’ve gone and left us in the shite.

  16. David Low tweeted. Today has been a good day and long overdue.

    Onwards and upwards.

He’s a man who knows the time of day at Celtic, so I find that interesting and telling.

    Hail Hail

Prepare for LOTS, LOTS more of this stuff now from enemies such as the BBC.

  19. If, as others have suggested, we need to come to terms with our position in Europe: at the back of the bus, why then is our CEO’s remuneration in line with top EPL CEO packages?

I’m no Lawwell hater- honest guv. Just curious.

  20. He could walk under a snakes belly with a top hat on!

    SOAB.

    C’MON THE REAL CELTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Don’t forget MON was a lifelong Sunderland fan after he went to Sunderland

Robbie Keane supported Liverpool and Celtic and LA Confidenrial all his life

Brendan appears to have had a premonirion of an early demise; he will give his life to Leicester but only to 2022.

Silly boy. The English still slag him for his idioms and metaphors at Liverpool. They will eat him if he drops into the relegation zone

  22. Thanks Brendan, 7 trophies in a row!!!??

C’mon Lenny, a Treble Treble cements your legendary status!

    You know it makes sense????

  23. What a helluva day!

Just listened to Neil there and I’m filled with renewed optimism.

If anyone thinks that man is 2nd best they are mistaken.

This is the man who has taken bombs, bullets, intimidation, physical violence and threats for love of club.

I for one have the utmost faith in Neil Francis Lennon.

  24. The more I think about it the more angry I get at the timing of Rodgers departure. Dropped us like a stone- no matter what ills the club have elsewhere this was betrayal, clear and simple. I hope his next shite is a hedgehog
