Bolingoli, the shirt doesn’t fit.

306

I get the wisdom in including Olivier Ntcham i and Boli Bolingoli in the training camp. The former may yet have a role to play (outside his own box) at the club, Bolingoli, though, can only be there to maintain his fitness ahead of a move.

Least season’s calamitous events started with Boli giving the First Minister permission to interrupt our season.  He was lucky we didn’t lose the league by a small margin attributable to him. The shirt doesn’t fit.

  1. I think we are stronger this season because the Ange seems to know what he is talking about and Lennon didny!

I believe we will be better coached and more tactically aware since Brendan left.

The players can be improved and heads will be up…………………instead of up their own arses.

Tbh was never that keen on him anyway.no discipline in his position.never knew where he’d end up on the park.

If we’re talking about replacing Boli, for footballing reasons and with a better player, then fair enough.

However, he doesn’t deserve to be ‘punished’ for his actions last season. Certainly, no more than other players in the league.

He played a miniscule part in our implosion last season. Let’s be honest. Our failures and shortcomings were due to those who weren’t shipped off to Turkey.

Many of the guilty are still around.

Sorry to disagree with you for 2 reasons:

    1. I respect your opinion.

    2. I don’t like bad-mouthing Celtic players.

But, Boli sneaked off without telling NFL. This would clearly have undermined Neil and the Club in general. He then rejoined the squad and didn’t care if he infected others (I know he wasn’t positive etc) and put their health (lives?) at risk etc. I don’t want to sound like a know-it-all, but I thought his behaviour was seriously reckless.

    Hhmm.

    Ambivalent on this one.

And I freely admit my views might be different if I thought Boli was a good player.

    ( I don’t ).

Lots of factors contributed to, in relative terms, one of our worst seasons since the abject 89-90 season.

    This was just one.

The failings of others also had an effect.

I also suspect (but have ZERO proof) the club’s investigation identified that Boli knew exactly what he was doing .. and did it anyway.

( I distinctly recall the strength of the club statement at the time ).

If so (and it is an if) …. this is an irreparable failing of personal responsibility.

    Standards, scruples, morals, principles.

    Having them is easy.

    Hhmm.

  6. 2 weeks until our first competive game and we still haven’t replaced 3 players from starting 11. We really are a mess.

If Griffiths deserves another chance, then surely does Bolingoli

  7. onenightinlisbon on

Boli was only a small part of last years disgrace. To single him out is unfair, many others should be publicly apologising to the support instead of bad mouthing them to the very press that hounded them.

Bolingoli should be given a chance.

A good player who fits the Ange Postecoglou style of playing.

    Far superior player than Taylor.

  9. Celtic have opened talks to sign winger Kyle Edwards following his West Brom exit.

The 23-year-old Englishman is a free agent after his contract at the Hawthorns expired at the end of last month.

  10. bhoywithseethrougheyes on

    Hi Paul,

I suspect Eddie Howe, had the deal went through, would have been on a far more lucrative contract than that handed to Ange. Do you know if the transfer budget has remained the same as it would have under E.H. or has it been reduced to reflect Ange’s reduced contract and in turn the boards confidence in him.

Slightly off topic but can we get all of our defenders to watch the Italians tonight, that’s how you defend as a team. They won’t lose many goals with crosses just thrown into the box.

  12. Delaneys Dunky on

Ange Postecoglou is a far superior coach than Eddie Howe, and is a winner with past success.

Why would a superior manager than Howe be on lesser salary?

  13. You could be forgiven for thinking that internet media portals were going through the list of Bosman’s and linking all the dodgy ones to Celtic.

    _____

Absolutely. I love good defenders and akways like watching Italy. At the start of the tournament, some ‘exoert’ pundits were saying Italy didn’t have the top players to win it. They were wrong, albeit Spain could win tonight. I hope Italy win the tournament.

Oh to have a player like Chiellini, a proper defender and real captain.

I know Ange is attack minded but I hope he gets it right at the back. Even if we bring in another couple of defenders, they won’t be available or ready for the first qualifier. Anyone’s guess what our back four will look like.

  17. bhoywithseethrougheyes on

D.D If Ange is a “Far superior manager” why wasn’t he our No 1 target, and as he signed instantly, why wasn’t he brought in months ago?

Why did the club put everything into E.H. when this “Far superior manager” was willing, able and just waiting to be asked?

It’s not unreasonable to push the boat out to get your No 1 target on board but as you go down the list, the boat won’t be pushed as hard.

Are you at the wind up?

  18. depends on Boli’s attitude! does he feel Celtic threw him under the bus at a time when covid was just kicking off – or does he feel he has something to prove. Agree to let Ange find that out!

Regarding Ntcham – he’s a player that showed he doesn’t care – lost his love for football imo. Pity as he has the attributes but has no heart off the ball.

So far I’m extremely disappointed in our business so far – I’d like us to sign a couple of players who have played at top level and can bring experience to the team.

  19. au sujet du N’tcham……………….

  21. another concern I have his John Kennedy – how much is he influencing Ange on players? Remember, he didn’t change much after Lennon left.

  22. Our current back four optiins:

RB – O’Connor, Ralston, big Osaze.

LB – Boli, Taylor or Montgomery.

CBs – Welsh, big Osaze, Ajer (I think he’ll still be here in a fortnight) abs Bitton.

Dearie me. If we get by the Danes, we’ll definitely need better options.

  23. ZIGGYDOC1

I doubt that we will get by the Danes , with a back 4 from that lot.

Still not replaced our captain either

  24. On the Eddie Howe band wagon now.

If Eddie is such a great coach why has he not got a job yet. I actually think we dodged a bullet there …not saying that Ange is better than sliced bread yet.

We have tracked Ange Postecoglou for 3 years.

Compare what Ange Postecoglou has won and has done in the game to what Eddie Howe has done in the game.
