Bucking underperforming recruitment trend

629

Every year we hear that January is a difficult time to do transfer business. Clubs are reluctant to allow top performers to leave midseason, but we’ve had some creative January activity over the years. Objectives for this month are clear.

We need to better prepare for our Summer Cup Finals. Trying to build a defence, or strike force, while simultaneously qualify for the Champions League is, unsurprisingly, tricky. Summer transfer windows are really two periods, the last days of the month, after European qualification has been taken care of, and earlier in the window, when limited volumes of business will take place.

We’ve done some great business early in summer months, most notably Virgil van Dijk, but instances like this are rare.

The most interesting aspect of this window will be how Ronny Deila is backed. He’s 18 months in the job now, long enough to come to an assessment of the wider scouting infrastructure he inherited. We’ve been underperforming on recruitment since January 2012. Ronny needs to buck this trend, and Celtic need to give him the necessary lateral.

    TET,

I don’t think he mentioned fear or favour, it was the Celtic chairman who made that statement, another abandoned sound bite.

  5. Canman

He did, I am sure of that, our chairman could have as well, but Doncaster defo said it.

I will look for it, or maybes some kind poster could as they would have more chance of finding it than I will.

I don’t know if it’s true, it was the boys that told me, after listening how the mighty Rangers beat some galactico team out your way.

When they used to think Forster was the best keeper in the world, I told them about a better keeper a Polish keeper called Artur Boruc.

    TET,

When it came out of Reid I must admit I was suckered into believing something had changed and we were going to take them on head to head.

Coming from Doncaster you just know its the same kind of rhetoric the yanks use when accusing the others of bombing civilians, just bare faced lies.

Who got to him or DD, somebody did, something happened to cut it dead in it’s tracks, Dr John even mentioned a ” Dossier ” what were is words… ” Those Days are Gone ” aye they are gone right enough.

As for Doncaster, agreed, sound bite, nothing more.

No surprises there then., it doesn’t seem real,, from what 2/3 years ago till last year all I’ve heard from PAUL67 and others don’t worry theyre a busted flush, they’re not viable, theyre gone, they’re dead, fine if the semantics fit they are.

In sox months or so we will be in the same league facing that very same repugnant, vile, violent shower of bigoted scum and it seems no-one can /is prepared to stop them.

Thanks for those two clips of penalty incidents. Just emailed them to Sports journalist @Irish News questioning why these two incidents and Nadirs “goal” were not even commented upon in a half page match report. Probably because their go to guy on Scottish Football is Ronnie Esplin (author of at least 8 books on the dead team).

Asked him why these incidents were not commented upon EVEN if people (the people) did not think they were penalties. Surely they at least should have been covered in a match report.

We don’t want Pravda (that’s why Rankers died in the first place) but in what is widely perceived as a “Nationalist” paper the least you could expect is balanced and fair reporting rather than something lifted from PA or penned by a Rangers2012/Sevco hagiographer.

    HH

  21. Ps

For those advocating we just move on from “penalty incidents” et al the saying that “if you act like a carpet you have to expect to get walked on” springs to mind. Only Huns are afraid of the truth.

Apparently Madrid have only put Zidane in for the rest of the season, they really want the magic hat man but didn’t want to be too disrespectful to him or Sevco by approaching mid season.
