Bucking underperforming recruitment trend

629

Every year we hear that January is a difficult time to do transfer business. Clubs are reluctant to allow top performers to leave midseason, but we’ve had some creative January activity over the years. Objectives for this month are clear.

We need to better prepare for our Summer Cup Finals. Trying to build a defence, or strike force, while simultaneously qualify for the Champions League is, unsurprisingly, tricky. Summer transfer windows are really two periods, the last days of the month, after European qualification has been taken care of, and earlier in the window, when limited volumes of business will take place.

We’ve done some great business early in summer months, most notably Virgil van Dijk, but instances like this are rare.

The most interesting aspect of this window will be how Ronny Deila is backed. He’s 18 months in the job now, long enough to come to an assessment of the wider scouting infrastructure he inherited. We’ve been underperforming on recruitment since January 2012. Ronny needs to buck this trend, and Celtic need to give him the necessary lateral.

I liked him as well and Miku, but the scottish referees didn’t help their game.

Take the Derk man, I remember a game at D Utd, the ball came to him and a split second later a Utd player clattered him he saw it coming but couldn’t do anything about it, no foul, but the look on his face said it all to me, wtf am I doing here.

Till the club sort it, it will be the same old for ever.

I don’t hold with the pish that we will be ridiculed by the msm, what can they say, we are paranoid for wanting a fair, honest and transparent refereeing system, good luck with that, but it needs a stance that we will not deviate from.

Sort the referees, sort the problem.

It could be done at the stroke of a pen if the will was there.

The Canman has been saying that for a few years now, the health and safety issue, it’s beyond me why they wouldn’t want to protect their investments, all they care about is the money.

Jeez, it’s no as if we are asking for preferential hun treatment, a level playing field, nothing more, nothing less, but that’s obviously too much to ask for in scotland.

So we keep the same CEO and management team who have created the trend that needs bucked ?

I hear Accrington is THE place to look for talent in this transfer window…

Mind you, don’t tell Lawwell, Park and Ronny since they seem intent on “building” a team at that kind of level. I finished Fergie’s book on leadership today. Hope someone got Pistol Pete it for his Xmas. Lots in there for him to learn.

Oh and Peter/ Dermot, sorry to break it to you, but Sevco aren’t “coming back” to make it all better. Their tea’s oot thankfully, just a matter of when. Time to come to terms with your loss and find another future for our club.

  21. A word for all the Ronnie fans who seem to think that everyone from the refs to the opposition to the masons are to blame for our current poor performances – you are all kidding yourselves on!

Suggestions that PT and HMFC somehow kicked us off the park in the last two games is just nonsense!

The current squad we have are just far too soft for professional football. Without SB we lack any physical edge at all, other teams know we have better players and also know that they can be intimidated far too easily. Bitton, McGregor, Commons, Rogic all are nice footballers but rarely win a 50:50 challenge!

Do we get a fair shake from referees? No but when was it ever different?

If you are good enough, hard enough and smart enough – all the refs combined won’t stop you as we have proved many times in the past!
