Celtic coaches and the March Grand Tour

453

The March international break is one of the most important of the club season.  It is when managers and coaches get to take a proper look at the players targeted for the summer transfer window.  The Celtic management team will have looked at dozens of players on video since the January window closed, but, this break from domestic football, gives them the chance to do the Grand Tour, their last opportunity before the end of the season.

Having despatched his nearest two rivals away from home, with 10 men, in recent weeks, Brendan Rodgers took enormous pressure off the remainder of the season, which now largely consists of preparing for next month’s Scottish Cup semi-final.  Energies will have made a significant switch towards preparing for July’s Champions League qualifiers.

Getting these decisions right can be the difference between success and failure; Brendan will have used his ‘time off’ wisely.

My memory of the club sound system in Derby rasta club.was the pressure on my chest from the bass. Loud as hell.

I went to the Lou Macari testimonial on Lisbon Lions bus, we stayed in Blackpool the night before a game. Went to a club that was full of English squaddies. Mad Cokey grabbed the Mike off the dj and sang Go on home British soldiers. I have never been involved in a riot like it.

  8. GERRYFAETHEBRIG, gerry how you doin, yes it is glenboag, just tryin to let delaneys know about the orange hellhole that is airdrie, gerry might have changed now but 40+ years ago it was an orange shithole.hh.

  9. DD, brilliant.

There was one of the other testimonials in Manchester that we stayed in Blackpool and there was a squad of us and we ended up with Celtic casuals Fighting a running battle with Blacpool supporters.

That sounds like a Huns day away.

Don’t know how the hell that happened to us to this day.

Must say we never ever went looking for trouble.

Loved away days just for the Celtic, booze and pals..

  10. I got an e-mail this morning from Hamilton Accies ticket office saying they didn’t know when the Celtic tickets were going on sale but they would put it on their website when they knew. Aye, that’ll be the same website that said they were opened on Saturday.

As I am no longer a ST holder at CP it is unlikely I’ll get a ticket from Celtic.

Here’s an interesting question Mrs Starry put to me last night: what have chocolate eggs and wee rabbits got to do with Easter?

I had no answer that made any sense of course to her Japanese ears.

Did it come from some European tradition, Germany/ Sweden/ Czechoslovakia??

Is it the same as the War on Christmas:))

Do people still buy Nestle products after their war on poor peoples water supplies:))

Saw Big Lou at the last Ross County game. His son is his double. We were there with both our sons. My son is my double. Was like turning the clock back 30 years wi a pair of mini me”s. Meet your cousin Brian at loads of games. Have travelled to many Celtic games abroad and in England wi Brian. Great guy!

  21. that old trafford game, one memory, team of us wandering about salford looking for a carry out shop.

we were 18/19 at the time.

A wee group of kids, maybe 10 – 12 years old, broad manc accents started talking to us. Expecting some sort of ambush, its the height of the casual era, and we were very suspicious.

However, all taken aback, when these boys started sing Sean South to impress us.

real life shameless characters they had irish backgrounds like us.
