Celtic fans to blame, apparently

902

I see Celtic fans are being blamed for rumours of Newco’s administration by their former manager, Ally McCoist. He could argue that. Alternatively, you could suggest that a business unable to secure bank borrowing, dependent on funding from directors, who will soon be forced to find £11m to make a share offer, has created more than enough financial uncertainty without Celtic fans’ assistance.

McCoist suggested “even the biggest Celtic fans in the country” do not want to see Newco go into administration. Not so sure you are right there, Ally. Personally, I would find it a funny, but it is not going to change anything. It would not lead to relegation and will not change the title race in any way.

The most significant outcome of administration could be forcing control from Dave King. Which would be a source of enormous regret.

You hang in there, Dave.

The CQN Podcast: A Celtic State of Mind (EP28) with former Celtic director Tom Grant

Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham are joined by Celtic’s ex-director, Tom Grant, who offers a fascinating insight into the running of the club in the 1980s and 1990s.

Tom Grant explains exactly why Celtic refused to complete the Mo Johnston transfer in 1989, and lifts the lid on audacious efforts by Billy McNeill to recruit Peter Beardsley and Steve Bruce.

Tom Grant also dissects his relationship with Fergus McCann, and the impact of the ‘Celts For Change’ movement in overturning the ‘family dynasty’ board in 1994.

It surprises me that we attract such relatively low attendances for these type of games. I really enjoy matches against the Brechins of this world. I understand and agree with, those not attending because of the SFA but that only accounts for a small number of non-attendees .I actually go against my SFA principals to attend such games .Am I bad?

I totally agree with those who choose not to attend SFA competitions. And I fully understand those like yourself and my sisters who choose to hold their nose and attend.

If it was me,I’d hold my nose too. Yep,no principles when it comes to supporting Celtic, and quite happy to admit it.

If you do something which is contrary to your principles and having principles is generally regarded as a good thing then I think you have answered your own question.

If you want to financially support the governing body that it is up to its knees in cheating and corruption mostly at our expense then by all means go to the match this week-end but please don’t then complain when the SFA continue to act as they have up to now.

As long as enough supporters but tickets for their premier competition then they will continue to cheat. Simples, no?

  4. BMCUW

I agree but I have to add that I only hold my nose on these `wee teams who need the money` occasions`. Sevco being an obvious exception to that `principle`.

    Cheerio for now,

    JJ

PS Just noticed my `principals` !! Dear me. What is the world coming to :-)

  5. Hot Smoked,

I was thinking of our upcoming game against Brechin when I was listening to some posters mocking the Man City crowd against Bristol City.

Supporters generally have a finate amount of money to spend and usually prioritise. It’s not just the cost of admission, it’s the whole match day package.

If we get a unique 2nd treble this season I would then hope we use all domestic cup games for something different. Experiment if you like. Let’s be brutality honest here , and no disrespect intended. We should be able to play any of our squad in a 2- 3- 5 formation and still comfortably proceed to the next round.

Unattractive cup games must provide a different platform.

    Cheers and HH.

  6. enjoyed the dug talk last night, which brought me back to a chat with number 2 daughter (26) i was mentioning how the blog was thanking their dad for giving them celtic and why down the generations thats ‘just the way it goes’

she smiled in the condescending way only daughters can, coming back with ‘dad, thanks for giving us Boxers’ …as a family we are on our fourth generation, collectively over 100 years of boxer dogs and not one bite…. god help the first boxer to bite any one of us ( you do know it will forevermore be called Tyson!!!!)

He’s a Labour MP,so that’s a start! Reminds me of the abuse-which verged on racism-accorded to The Speaker of the House of Commons.

    Gorbals Mick. Utterly disgraceful.

I also recall, about five years ago,I was at work during the day to catch up on paperwork. My transport department has two lads who worked days, and I always left them a list of To Do items. Otherwise other departments would demand they drive here there and everywhere, which wasn’t their job.

This time, overheard Chris getting it tight and ORDERED to do a four-hour trip for eff all. I poked my head above the parapet and suggested she neither speak to my staff nor hers in that tone.

“Harrumph, isn’t it time you learned to speak English? You’ve been here long enough!”

I reminded her that requests for assistance from Transport were done by e-mail,and expedited ASAP. BUT her requests would be printed out,and returned via internal mail with red pen through all spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors.

Then ignored till she learned some manners.

Took her a while, but she got there.

    A disgrace if it’s allowed.

Today is MARTIN LUTHER KING,Jr DAY in the US.

I remember Stevie Wonder and Gil Sott-Heron agitating strongly for it as long ago as 1980.

But it was another singer who may well have been responsible for maybe the most important speech in the country that century.

  26. Does anyone think we will sign, more players in this transfer window,me personally ,I don’t think so,why, because over the years , particularly this January window, the club would come out and say they tried right up to the last minute,to bring new players to the club,me I thought it was all spin, but there is so many times you will get away with statements like that,
