Celtic fans to blame, apparently

902

I see Celtic fans are being blamed for rumours of Newco’s administration by their former manager, Ally McCoist. He could argue that. Alternatively, you could suggest that a business unable to secure bank borrowing, dependent on funding from directors, who will soon be forced to find £11m to make a share offer, has created more than enough financial uncertainty without Celtic fans’ assistance.

McCoist suggested “even the biggest Celtic fans in the country” do not want to see Newco go into administration. Not so sure you are right there, Ally. Personally, I would find it a funny, but it is not going to change anything. It would not lead to relegation and will not change the title race in any way.

The most significant outcome of administration could be forcing control from Dave King. Which would be a source of enormous regret.

You hang in there, Dave.

The CQN Podcast: A Celtic State of Mind (EP28) with former Celtic director Tom Grant

Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham are joined by Celtic’s ex-director, Tom Grant, who offers a fascinating insight into the running of the club in the 1980s and 1990s.

Tom Grant explains exactly why Celtic refused to complete the Mo Johnston transfer in 1989, and lifts the lid on audacious efforts by Billy McNeill to recruit Peter Beardsley and Steve Bruce.

Tom Grant also dissects his relationship with Fergus McCann, and the impact of the ‘Celts For Change’ movement in overturning the ‘family dynasty’ board in 1994.

Added a wee extra onto my moniker as I was getting accused of negative posts by some pals, not this jimbob!!!

    ;-)

I’ve got another new recruit to bring to the Celtic Family on Saturday, ideal game I think for my 6 year old nephew who has exploded onto the Celtic scene!! My sister is constantly telling me he makes up every morning asking if this is the day he goes to see Celtic with Uncle jimbob71 and cousin Miss jimbob71!

    Could be an interesting day!!

    JIMBOB.

STOKE CITY are currently 4/11 to go down. I’ve just checked.

I’ll give you a score at evens for that bet. Winnings to charity of choice.

  3. Had to laugh at all the talk about dogs. WC Fields was right when he said anyone who hates dogs and kids, can’t be all bad.

  4. Must say I share Posters concern re the disappearance of Delaneys Dunkey.

Thought that a couple of weeks back someone said he was down with Man Flu

There might be a very simple explanation i.e, He just got pissed off with the Blog, still it would be nice to know that he is OK.

Met him in the BV a couple of times, a grand fhellow, he wasn’t there before the Anderlecht

Indeed,a smashing fella. Spent many-though never enough!-a good evening in his company.

One in particular will live long in my memory,a wee pub at Partick Cross. He always insisted on going out the back for a smoke, instead of the nearer front door.

No wonder-his combustible material would have felled an elephant at 30 paces!!!

    Some man,so he is.

  6. Funny how the huns are in immediate danger of Admin 2 yet they’re linked with all these loans and signings?

Is it all bullmerde or one (more) final push?

    Their record suggests the latter.

  7. BARNEY67

Here’s hoping it is a final push from thems before they crash and burn again ! Wish they would disappear for good !

My personal opinion is that they are fiscally f….d and that they are surviving via income from outside of their core operations.

Now,whether that is the case,I do not know. But I do know that if there was reasonable suspicion that it was true, almost every other FA in the world would be asking serious questions.

As,of course, would the local MSM. And quite possibly, the police and tax authorities et al.

So,naw, nothing to see here,Timmy. Beat it.

  9. PARK ROAD 67

Their PR machine seems to be in overdrive, just look on Newsnow to see how many players they are linked with. New ones everyday. It looks like they are trying TOO hard to prove they are solvent. Time will tell as you cant fool all the people ALL the time. I know i know. THE people are mugs.

    Lets give it a month.

  10. BMCUWP,

I just cant understand anyone signing for them, even on loan. Surely their agents must warn them they are toxic and another Admin event would see the player shafted for wages. Dont get it?

  11. when a business is in distress a key executive strategy is just to continue as if everything is normal.

last week Carillion were still signing new contracts.

  12. Just realised, now i’m going answer my own question.

Obviously the Agent gets the parent club to guarantee the players wages in the event newco go into admin.

    Doh Barney.

  13. Just catching up, on a quick dinner break, I’m also concerned about DD . A regular contributor on the blog , all round good guy , and a good Tim . Strange that he’s stopped posting with no contact recently with anyone posting. He spoke and posted on regular basis about his family , so I don’t imagine him being in a lonely place. Anyone live nearby him ?

  14. Btw . Sevco / Newco r just dandy . Check their accounts. Maybe not in danger of imminent admin , but certainly in financial distress It’s all going to end in tiers . ;-))))

  15. Re posts about the Zombie activity, My guess is they have lined up a sale for a player or two. Possibly Morales might bring in a million or so..

To satisfy the hordes bring in a few loanees try & force out a few of Pedro’s guys & hang on in there.

Trying to bed in a clutch of loanees at this stage will not be easy but that is their problem.

To be honest I am more concerned with our ghuys. We have plenty of talent in the squad, we just seemed to have gone a bit stale hopefully the break will revive us and we will come roaring back & stretch ahead in the League, the Cup games will take care of themselves.

  16. We’re now linked with Charly Musonda and Lewis Baker of Chelsea.

Musonda seems to be a long term target of BR, Baker is on loan at Middlebrough but will be getting recalled. Celtic want permanent deals but loans more likely as they’re both contracted for another 4 years.

Ah the GREAT CHARLY MUSONDA. I really hope we sign the second coming of Christ this time.

I don’t think the blog could handle it falling through “AGAIN!” he is after all the best football player never signed by Celtic and optimisies the PLC’s lack of ambition.

Well actually that could be Finboggason. the boards lack of ambition not spending £8million on him was a real low point in our history

Would have liked Lambert to have got the Scotland job, but the Strong Rangers Association have made a complete backside of the process. Three months and counting!? Wouldn’t be surprised if O’Neill turns it down and they go for McLeish.

    have heard of musonda

    ——

of course you have BP, he is the guy that Celtic didn’t sign and according to the “experts” on here displays why the PLC should be sack for having no ambition.

He is also the guy that has played 26 first team matches in his career. so clearly has all the credentials to back up the 2nd coming of Christ tag, and why Celtic should “BURST THE BANK” to get him

    Hmmmm

  20. My own take on the club from Govan is that they will not be allowed to die.Same as 2012.

However,if the best case scenario eventuated, what would happen?Seriously! What would happen?50k people who attended a match every fortnight would do what?Seriously!Any thoughts? Yes, a few would support their local team, a few would give the game away, but what of the rest–30k? Thoughts, please. HH.

  21. WILLIEFERNIE, absolutely right, they will never be allowed to die prebyterian scotland would not stand for it, but if it was celtic. any thoughts.hh.

If this story is true and Southampton see Big Erik as a suitable replacement for VVD, It would somewhat validate my own views on the big man.

I have said many times now although he lacks a bit of pace he is our best defender. It does seem odd to me it hasn’t worked out for him.

  24. Willie Fernie

I read elsewhere that should Sevco go into admin there will not even be a points penalty, as it is the Holding Company not the football team, this if true shatters any honesty left in the game here, it is as you say about numbers and money, I do not care what happens to the Sevco 50K there could be many more from other clubs that give up the game due to new ways to cheat clubs who run their football and business tightly honestly pay their bills and do not abandon financial sense.

  25. Sean P. I see you refer to Erik as the big man & no doubt at 6ft 1 he is big compared to most of us.

However not particularly big for a centre half.

Having said that I liked the lad and am a bit surprised that he has fallen down the pecking order.

Obviously he doesn’t fit Brendan’s style, a pity but that is the way things go.

If he gets Southampton move he will be doing all right for himself.

Nae offence, mate, but can you point me to one single post on here which has demanded we sign Musonda? Never mind one that says it’s a PL disaster if we don’t sign him, just one that says that we should.

Put up or shut up. I’ve heard this garbage before, throwing names in like that. Cheap shots and big mouths.

When people criticise the board on here, they tend to quantify it and explain their reasons.

  28. !!Bada Bing!! on 15th January 2018 2:01 pm

Averages about 25 games per season at Sunderland, but has totally lost his way since leaving Everton and being lured by the big bucks at City when he wasn’t good enough to get into their team (like Scott Sinclair and many others). Story is nonsense I’m sure but its the Congleton connection that may mean there is something in it. That and he’s a free agent so he’s right in our price range!!
