Is that the time?  Many thanks to everyone who submitted questions for the Club to answer at the Forum this evening.  CQN submitted six pages of questions along with many other groups, from which an agenda has been prepared (below):

Stadium Atmosphere and Matchday Policy:

What is the current position in respect of the Green Brigade?

Do the Club believe their response to Motherwell was justified and proportionate?

Stewarding at home matches is heavy handed in certain sections of the Stadium e.g. Block 122 and Blocks 110, 111 & 112, is there a reason for this?

The presence of FoCUS at home matches is intimidating and antagonises supporters, is it necessary to have them and if so can they be located in an area which is less intrusive?

Can the Club introduce a code of conduct which all Stewards need to sign up to?

Attending matches is expensive, what are the Club’s plans on ticket pricing?

Safe Standing has been regularly discussed, what is the current position?

The Coach Park has been relocated to an area which is unsuitable for the majority of fans who use it, what is the longer term plan?

The Kerrydale Bar has been a welcome addition to matchday are there plans for another?

What are the Club’s thoughts on the current location of the Family Section?

Stadium Catering has long since been considered over-priced and sub-standard, what is the current position in terms of offering an improved service?

Many fans feel their support is taken for granted, would the Club consider adding value by recognising long-term support for 5, 10, 15 years’ Season Ticket purchase by offering upgrades to Premium or Corporate for a day?

With so many empty seats on match day at present can the Club not allocate these to good causes, school and youth groups and community projects?

PR & Communication:

There is a perception that the Club are quick to criticise our fans but slow to praise them, what’s the Club’s view?

Why is the Club not more vocal when our Manager, Players and Fans are attacked in the media?

The Club is seen to be slow to react to key issues through the media, why is this?

The Club has stated its opposition to the OBTC Act but there is a sense that it has to do more in support of the fans who are affected by this, will the Club take a more vocal position?

Is this meeting a recognition from the Club that a gap exists between the Club and the fans?

The Club are often considered to be on the back foot in terms of PR, is there recognition of this from within and is there a plan to drive the PR strategy by producing more positive stories?

Would the Club consider the introduction of a weekly phone-in show to combat existing shows which often provide misinformation or unrealistic comparisons from unqualified sources?

Supporter Specific Issues:

Given the level of demand which exists, would the Club consider adding to to the excellent new disabled supporters’ facility or creating something similar in another part of the stadium?

Fixture re-scheduling at short notice is costing supporters money and ultimately driving fans away, can the Club seek an agreement with all other Clubs that a minimum notice period is put in place?

Would the Club consider a floating credits scheme for fans outside Scotland to mitigate losses when matches are rescheduled?

Murrayfield – what is the plan relative to transportation and kick-off times, also Edinburgh cannot be accessed in a 24-hr trip by Irish supporters, can this be reflected in their Season Ticket offering?

At present away, neutral and European match ticket allocations are based on attendance of matches at each of the defined categories.  Would the Club consider a scheme where all matches are taken into account including attendance at home matches as this would encourage more fans to attend home games?

For European match ticket allocation there is no stated policy at present, this leads to confusion as fans don’t always know when they will receive an offer or if it’s first come first served, this needs to be made clear by way of a stated policy which allows for clarity and gives supporters a defined process.

I’m going out on a limb here but I am almost certain that never has the number of Scottish Labour MP’s ever affected the outcome of a general election and brought about a labour majority.

I remember researching this a few years ago, what I will concede though is that at the last General election the tories would have had an overall majority if the Scottish Labour MP’s weren’t included.

    ………………………………………..

I think you’re wrong Eddie. When Harold Wilson was elected in (1964?) he had a majority of 4 MPs. He wouldn’t have had a majority without the Scottish Labour MPs IIRC.

  2. good morning all,

We fly into Edinburgh at 10.30am so will have an hour or so before the game, don’t fancy wandering about in the middle of cousins of William for too long.!!

Thanks for your considerate response but I find it difficult to understand why someone who has such strong convictions would not want to share them with us

    …………………………………………………..

The answer to that one is easy. Politics is my least favourite subject on here. My views were formed over my life time and I’m not going to change them now. Family commitments apart, I would not want to live in an independent Scotland.

  6. Been to Cuba not too long ago and toured a bit, in-land.

Fascinating place: some lovely folk, some lovely scenery, some poverty, but I found most folk reasonably happy, if hungry for progress; held back by an over-bearing, inflexible regime and a spiteful bully of a neighbour.

Anyway on the matter of Cuban exiles, I genuinely fear for Cuba, once communism finally collapses: as I suspect it is likely to do over the next 5 to 10 years.

I have visions of wealthy exiles returning to Havana to reclaim their confiscated assets, armed with suitcases full of brown envelopes with which to bribe anyone they can to make sure they get their ‘just deserts’.

I love the story, too, about the 1980 ‘Mariel boatlift’ during which Castro and Co, (due to a particularly harsh period for the Cuban economy) agreed to – and indeed facilitated – the exodus of tens of thousands of Cubans to the US.

The best bit was that the Cubans used the opportunity to empty their jails and mental hospitals … causing a slight difficulty for the US.

This is primarily a Celtic/football blog after all. Before anyone advises me to scroll past, that would leave very little to read. Anyone else scunnered with it all? Why don’t you guys exchange emails or phone numbers and chat to each other until you,ve sorted the world,s problem. Even a 24 hour moritarium would be a start. Hail Hail Hebcelt – non political

You should remember that CQN is a football blog populated by Celtic supporters – apart from those on your list. When you come on to a football blog you should expect to find a number of differing views and some of these views to be expressed in a very robust way. A lot of people have a go at you on here, Tony, not just some posters who are teachers. You have belittled and been sarcastic towards the architects of Resolution 12 and the CST. You have heavily criticised Jeanette Findlay and the GB. Despite the reasonable points that many posters have made in explaining their stance you tend to reiterate the same mantra over and over again. Peter Lawell, the Board = good. The GB, CST, JF, Resolution 12 = bad. You never really explain the reasons why you have such overwhelming confidence in the infallibility of PL and the Board. Did you have the same confidence in the Kellys and Whytes? After all they were the Celtic Board at one time.

First of all,SIR, I know what this blog is about, and I also got past the stage of people talking down to me, just like you are, or did in that post, I was asked, well not asked, it was suggested that I hadent passed my 11+ and that was why I had a bad attitude against teachers! as I said to the poster that yes! I never passed my 11+ and that at the time I was not to happy about it! and my parents where none to pleased either! I felt I had let them down! but more than that! I had let myself down, I made myself a promise, I would better myself, and I did, and it was no thanks to any school teacher I can assure you of that, so now here I am at 66 years of age, and low and behold I still have teachers who don’t get it, this is not my home work you are marking here, it’s my posts, my opinions, please stop trying to educate me at this late stage of my life, I’m done with you, I didn’t need you, you where of no help to me or my school pals when we where screaming out for it, you where to busy with the boys who didn’t need your help, it’s in you DNA , to talk down to people and think you are above them, when deep down, and let’s cut to the chase all you are doing is backing up you fellow school teacher pal Hamilton Tim, I don’t need you or any other teacher in here to tell me what to post, who to post about, and who to defend and who not to defend, I’ve seen how you lot in circle the wagons and bully people in here, oh and you can come back with your smart arse comments about people not passing there 11+ and think you are all that! go ahead with your agenda you and your pal Hamilton Tim! I am going no where, as I said last night,SIR, you can only dream about the places I have been, people I have meat, I’ve had a great life, had some regrets like most of us, the greatest day of my life was when I left school, that was the anchor of my back, that was the day I said to myself, ” I’ll show those b******s who said Donnelly you’ll go no where in this world try signing up for the armed forces” clever eh!,

    Big cup winner

I had typed my response and my phone conked out so I here I go again and hopefully you will read it in the morning.

I just cannot get perturbed about The Act, sorry but that’s my feelings, and most of my pals are the same. I think one Bhoy has been lifted, but not certain, and he would have probably have been lifted regardless.

I get really slagged on this site and I

don’t actually think I have said anything really bad, on the contrary as I mentioned earlier.

What really gets me is all these so called republicans, will not regardless of how often they are asked or by whom, give an answer why they detest the thought of Scotland being independent. They give stupid excuses such as we are the pursuers. If they feel so strongly why is no case put forward,

Without trying to be too emotional my pals do not believe me when I tell them about a Tic site that is overwhelmingly against independence.

The main reason I ask for them to

put their arguments is that nearly every debate to date has resulted in

    the pro vote winning.

I watched again the debate today between Lord George Robertson and Stewart Hosiery, SNP MP. It’s on u tube. Before the debate started the students were by a large majority in favour against the proposition: for independence. Upon completion of completion of the debate the large majority had turned and the vote in favour won.

That is an example if why we cannot give up.

You obviously disagree with me but please don’t doubt my caring for your children and mine.

I would ask that you have a look at the debate mentioned earlier. And I hope I have convinced you I don’t always run away , it’s just that I’m usually in Kip early”

    ————————————

    ———————————–

Few major points from last night:

    1. You claimed you were being bullied yet could not accept you have been the aggressor on this subject from day 1. Do I have to go back and show the blog your behaviour towards me and others ? I will, it’s not great use of my valuable time but it would at least clear any idea that you, are indeed, a victim.

    2. Just a thought but you base most of your opinion on your 4 kids and give examples around them. Good for you but I believe many like to think of the bigger picture. Also when pushing a political view, one is expected to be selfless. Your view point appears narrow as in purely based on your kids’ future. You briefly mentioned others children. But we have a right to think about and be responsible for our own, without your partisan opinion being rammed down our throats.

    3. It does seem a little strange you have no empathy for your fellow Celtic supporters regarding the OB bill. You failed to answer any points clearly regarding this. This is because it doesn’t suit you political agenda, isn’t it? I’m calling you for it.

    4. It was me who detailed you as the pursuer, it is you who is campaigning for the change. Although you haven’t addressed the main point made last night, not by me I would add, Independence from what?

    5. I note you are dismayed when you talk to your mates that people on this Celtic site don’t agree with you. I strongly believe these people are members of the party you are member of or are Yes campaign activists. I also think your angst with this situation, is that you thought you could come on here and bully your views and all would bow and shout about republicanism as a way and you win favour. I also wouldn’t put it passed you to have told them you would infiltrate this blog and turn some Celtic fans onside and you get angry at yourself for the inadequate job you are doing. This is not Ireland. Everyone except you on this blog recognises this. Couldn’t be more different situation.

6.I note from places like facebook that the yes campaign are using a scatterbomb approach hoping a decent argument will stick. This is shown when several partisan articles appear each day. I liken this to you on here. You either have little or no respect for fellow posters or believe them to be foolish enough that this quantitative and not qualitative approach would work. Everyone remembers what you posted the time before which failed and the time before that and the time before that. Your losing the debate publicly, why? Because none of this has been thought through. I asked you about the yes campaign plan B. You said YOU didn’t need a plan B and then exclaimed I didn’t know what I was talking about. Okay so, here a clue, I’ve put this in cartoon form for you

    http://www.scotsman.com/news/the-scotsman-cartoon-scottish-independence-and-eu-1-3308860?WT.mc_id=Outbrain_text&obref=obinsite

    7. I stated the SNP have been buying votes from the electorate and failed to live to their election promise. You took this personally. It’s not a secret. All Parties do this. The specific were not keeping to their education promises which came from published sources and from a Primary school teacher on the blog.- you responded with “my daughter works in a nursery and they are doing fine” Well, case closed. Next I raised the “free” prescription to all. They cost £40 each to the taxpayer. We all know this is not sustainable, lovely idea but short term to influence the directorate. Along with no tuition fees lovely idea but just not sustainable. This is to swing the demographic in SNPs favour.

    8. This isn’t just between you and me, please pay respect to the other posters who test and scrutinise your points. As I said last night, if you go off topic on a blog PUSHING your own political agenda, people will eventually tell you to GTF as they have done. The more polite will remind you they won’t be basing their private decision on the vote on the ramblings of the most confused Celtic fan I have ever countered, who behaves and thinks like a Sevconian. You appear super confident yet show no signs of being able to structure an argument. Like one of those bad auditions on X factor. The best I’ve heard from the yes campaign, is let’s see how it all pans out.

In conclusion, William, your allegiance to the yes campaign and the snp is stronger than your allegiance to Celtic and it supporters. Distancing from the OB act discussion backs this. At the top of the page it says CQN, Celtic Quick News, a wonderful blog created by Paul, one which reaches the beautifully diverse Celtic support. Discussions go off topic frequently and I love learning from the intelligence and grace of posters and reading old Celtic stories from those on here. What do your posts have that you can’t find on facebook or on debate sites? I believe you have respect the blog and the reader, if they want to find out about the debate they will. You aren’t going to change their mind and you insult their intelligence by thinking copy and pasting will do this. You have admitted you have a Political agenda. You are clearly in a campaign drive and you have been abusive to those, who think differently to you(deny it again and I’ll re-post all the abuse you directed) even though they only express their view to measure your credibility which is at an all time low. You struggle to take scrutiny but yet admit your campaigning. I’m just not sure you’re the man for the job, for starters you haven’t even picked the right audience.

Et al, here’s a wee build up to the new book, I used to have this as a ring tone, still brings a huge smile;-)
