Celtic have an oddity to put right

780

It is early enough in the season that Celtic have ample scope to recover from the odd reversal but with October just around the corner Neil Lennon and his players will be wondering why they have not won two consecutive league games this season.  This particular oddity can be put right tomorrow if Celtic win and leapfrog Motherwell, who sit precariously at the top of the SPL, albeit having played a game more.

There is also probably some fine-tuning required on formation.  We kept a clean sheet in both Champions League qualifying away games but have not achieved one in three away SPL games against weaker opposition than Helsingborgs or HJK Helsinki.

Motherwell exited the League Cup on Wednesday but don’t expect this to sap momentum; Celtic on Saturday is their cup final.  We can expect a direct and physical challenge on what is likely to be a heavy pitch.

An early goal from the champions would settle the nerves.  If they get this, don’t be surprised if they go on to win comfortably.  Despite indifferent form this season the signs are there that Celtic are getting their game together.  Prediction: 0-4.

I will call you later.. God Bless amigo…

  2. Let me be clear. For their basic cheating and sectarian approach to football, I would be happier if Rangers, in any form, ceased to exist.

In spite of that, I know that the need to take three points from other teams has become less important so the atmosphere at Home games has been somewhat subdued . Even the fantastic Green Brigade seem to have lost a little enthusiasm.

    Now the good news.

Motherwell`s less than committed performance against Sevco during the week , for whatever reason(s), has restored my desire. I am as keen to beat them today as I would be if The Hun were level on points with us at the top of the SPL.

So,clouds and linings and all that, thank you Motherwell for bringing back the thunder to JJ!

    JJ

PS My American relative who sits with me summed up this feeling of dropped points being less important when Broonie had his penalty saved by Big Rab. He (mmy relative, not Broonie) turned to me and said: Had that happened last season, we would have been saying, ” That`s it! Title as been lost!!”. Now? ” Ach! It`s only a penalty miss. We will win in the end.”

    So, thanks again, Mr Mullet.

    ================================================================

And there lies the problem ,with the shambolic and disgraceful actions of the SFA in allowing the illusion to be portrayed in the first place ,they now find the new club turning on them and the SFA can say nothing in response as they have surely broken, bent or made up so many rules to aid their new baby they have been rendered impotent as to how it grows up

    Hell mend them all

Sorry to read you are leaving the site.

Only met you once a few years back when you helped me and the kid get back up the road to see a midweek game whilst on holiday.

Didn’t know you at all, just knew you travelled on the Blackpool bus from CQN. But you were more than willing to help based on a couple of Emails and our love of Celtic.

I was particularly keen to take my lad to that game, just to show him how far some The Faithful travel to see the Tic.

You went out your way to help a fellow Tim and his son for no other reason than what you mentioned in our adios: “it’s always great to meet good Celtic supporters”.

You probably don’t mind speaking those words, maybe even don’t remember me, but your words stuck in my head. They emphasised just what a passion you have for our club and how great a Celt you are.

I’d go so far to say the blog is part of our club too. Helps me understand issues, in getting to games, consoles in our trials………….

Of course I don’t really know what the issue is but hope you don’t stop posting and the issue can be reconciled. Good Celtic supporters are better together.

    Hail Hail

  8. Granted Soccer AM isn’t as funny as it used to be but they did just refer to ‘Rangers’ as 3rd Division minnows lol

Quote from Shaun Hutcheson on the Motherwell web site: “It is going to be a tough task against Celtic but we owe a performance to the fans after a lot of them turned up at Ibrox.

“All the boys are looking forward to it to make amends for what happened on Wednesday.”

    Sums them up really.

Fir Park for me and the bhoys today. South Stand upper. For some unknown reason the team that got beat by sevco may have found a wee bit more energy and purpose today . Amazin that innit!!! So lets pump them Celts. HH.

  11. Morning,

Obvious we will get booted off the park today. Mullet sounded like he was going to a wake on Tuesday. Yesterday, he was all fired up.

    What a surprise!

  12. Some interesting posts in timberspace this morning.

Phil saying “rapid restructuring” stitch-up is at advanced stage.

  13. A rangers manager talking about getting beat off Forres Mechanics. Either Fat Sally has chucked it or he is unsackable.

Vhman I hope everything is okay with you.

I have never met you but I have a lot of respect for you and for all of your posts on CQN.

You are always there to help others and I really appreciated the advice you gave me on where to watch the game last week.

I will miss your early morning posts before you head out walking the dog on the beach.

Your leaving will be a big loss to CQN. I hope you can reconsider.

With their current squad and fairly moderate youth players together with the transfer ban , I think the Huns could struggle in an SPL 2

  22. PFayr,

What even after a brilliant performance to defeat the current SPL leaders??

No, you’re right. They are struggling in away games in the third division at the moment, and are only winning home games so easily because part time players are dying towards the end of 90 minutes on a big pitch.

And they can’t buy. Unless they find a way of getting around the transfer ban?
