Celtic interims show what a stable club looks like

869

Celtic interim accounts for the 6 months to 31 December were released this afternoon.  The standout figure is that, despite Champions League revenue being absent this year, football and stadium income was down from £16.8m to a similar £16.5m.  This suggests other ticket sales increased.

The hit from the lack of Champions League came in the multimedia and commercial column, which was down from £19.5m to £7.9m, but the club still make an operating profit of £3.2m.  So, we’ve a fairly solid club on our hands.

We invested £5.7m in players, while making a profit of £7.1m on disposals.  With player trading, tax and interest all accounted for, we made a profit for the period of £6.601m.  This Armageddon thing is working out quite well.

    Where did I contradict myself?

I simply stated that Michael Kelly stated that he felt that there was too much of an emphasis on business nowadays and not the team.

    I agree with that.

Someone posted that without the business side , there would be no team.

I countered that without the team there would be no business.

I simply argue for a bit more of a rebalancing with a bit more emphasis on the team

whose plan? whose dream? that is the question

I want Celtic to win, and I realize to do that, it must exist, and to exist it must operate at a profit …

but I think my plan is to see Celtic (i) play football the Celtic way, (ii) represent its history and its tradition, (iii) be a force for good in society, and (iv) of course, not get liquidated along the way … and my dream is the same …

I think DD’s plan/ and PL’s plan is (i) make a profit, by hook or by crook … it playing football the celtic way makes a profit, then great… but if not, which one do you think DD will choose?

  5. Hamiltontim I believe the herald article speaks for itself and I think it provides ample evidence that concerns on the OB act were dropped in return for other promises.

I ahve no problem you don’t but I don’t think you can say my thoughts on this matter are baseless?

No, I’m not surprised to hear you say that … and that is okay …. football is as much art as science … and, for art, beauty is in the eye of the beholder …

I dont come on here expecting people to agree with me all the time … I do it because I (i) learn stuff, but (ii) mostly, I just enjoy talking about the bhoys with people, such as yourself, who may see them differently than i do, but who love them just the same …

  11. Watching the last few games Kris Commons has played have noticed he is tracking back a lot more. On Sunday alone he robbed a few Sevco players chasing them back. Think this is what Ronny has been waiting to see.

my golden retriever is named derry … problem is she is too damned friendly…. even for goldens, she is exceptionally friendly ….

a few pals would try to wind me up by calling her London, so, when she was a pup, I tried to teach her to bark when someone .. I would say london and if she barked, she would get a biscuit …

now, someone says london, she doesn’t bark, she just runs to the food cupboard and sits there, waiting for a biscuit …

    she’s hopeless….

  22. Was it not Kris that got us the invaluable 3 points at Ross County. The same person with the beautiful cross field pass to Mathews for his goal at Hamilton. His stunner against the Monkeys.Last but not least, his superb one -two and finish that got us the 3 points against Zagreb.

Why does anyone answer Kojo when he is talking the biggest load of bollox concerning Kris and especially our wonderful captain,Broony.

  23. I love the Kris Commons debate.

Rarely has a player caused a greater split of opinion!

For me, he is a bit like Paddy. Undoubtedly has an ability but his overall package is not good enough. As such, he would never flourish at a high level.

We dominate games so we can afford to accommodate him.

If we were in the group stage of the CL right now, how many would play him?

  24. Kojo,

Yep, I’ve read your reasons on several of your posts and still I can’t see were your reasoning comes from.

You say…we have to run our club on a level basis financially, I agree.

How much would it cost to replace our Captain and most prolific goal scorer…just doesn’t add up!

  25. neganon2…have you came up with an answer to the question i asked last night ,which was…if Scotland is such a sectarian country ,as you ascertain.what did theLabour party ,in all their years of power do to right this wrong,,,,,and please dont deflect,i await your answer..BGX
