Celtic interims show what a stable club looks like

869

Celtic interim accounts for the 6 months to 31 December were released this afternoon.  The standout figure is that, despite Champions League revenue being absent this year, football and stadium income was down from £16.8m to a similar £16.5m.  This suggests other ticket sales increased.

The hit from the lack of Champions League came in the multimedia and commercial column, which was down from £19.5m to £7.9m, but the club still make an operating profit of £3.2m.  So, we’ve a fairly solid club on our hands.

We invested £5.7m in players, while making a profit of £7.1m on disposals.  With player trading, tax and interest all accounted for, we made a profit for the period of £6.601m.  This Armageddon thing is working out quite well.

  3. My friends in Celtic,

I fully expect to see a rejuvenated Kris Commons.

As in any walk of life its very difficult to fully focus when uncertainty is prevalent. His, and more importantly his family’s future will not be dwelling on his mind as it has been for months now.

We should reap the dividends, possibly starting with a MOM performance tomorrow.

Thanks for the response, I love the old saying ” a vision without a plan is just a dream,a plan without a dream is just drudgery. .a vision with a plan can change the world”

Now you may have 8 hours less bevvy than I, but I will try to answer. Without stating the obvious the only guys with the plan are our board, they call the shots. Our role, the supporters, is to ensure that the hopes and dreams we hold dear are kept to the fore of the plan. Some we win, some we lose….but we have to look at the scales in the weighing room and voice our opinion accordingly.

  5. Guernica.

    Can’t agree with that.

Commons has vision, a commodity that Paddy never possessed.

I just can’t see how you can compare them, in my opinion 2 totally different types of player.

    Hi mhate.

I listened to the Micheal Kelly podcast.

Micheal articulates error as good today as he did back in his board days.

No insight into his own managerial capabilities whilst he is commenting other board members and football managers competence.

    Gefinor/Cambuslang would have

    worked….

    BoS would never have foreclosed.

    DD no different from Abramovich/monsour.

    It actually ground my gears.

I thought Harry missed a trick by not asking about the suicide pact between directors that nearly took our club with it.that and what he may have done differently.

I agree totally with ThomtheThim we were a business from 1892.we were a professionally run business since he left.

    Hope your good mhate

I doubt there is any split in the overwhelming opinion of Celtic supporters with regard to Kris Commons. There are a few detractors on most Celtic Blogs, like CQN, where there are au contraire posters, because he’s fat, doesn’t track back, got a touch like an elephant, yada yada yada yada.

  12. Neganon2….so after digging guys about their faith allday,i ask you a question, that i asked last night ….still no answer….cool…

In my opinion Kris is not like Paddy. The latter is/was an indivualist, could do wonderful things and score a peach of a goal.

Kris in my opinion is our best player by a country mile. He not only scores goals but is able to set up chances for his team mates.

Kris for me first pick on the team sheet, whether that be in the league cup, league, Europa or UCL.

  16. Paul67. Celtic interim results show that we could have indeed afforded that “striker” for CL qualifiers A large % of the sum invested in players ended up down the sink in wasted wages ( all the pure mince summer cheap loan signings )

If you had announced our club had broken even with zero profit and qualified for CL with full houses in might have been something to shout about

But to have Empty stands due to poor quality on the park and to watch European clubs with Far less turnover than us run over us , is not a thing to be proud of

Build a team. Fill the stands and break even is what the fans want

Ps going by these results , you can see PL thinking during the crucial transfer window during close season. ” spend nothing and my bonus will be big”

Another nice contribution to the PL pension plan

Lol there. Wean yourself off the cider and on to red wine by mixing both and then with each subsequent drink more red wine less cider until……voila.

  19. Burghbhoy. Away back in the days when Michael Kelly was unable to do anything to save the club from the threat of the Bank to close us down, he phoned me to ask “do you trust Fergus McCann?” Fortunately like thousands of other supporters I did and along with them put in small amounts to save our club. Yes, the thousands of ordinary supporters like me who placed their faith in what he was about to do and so forked up the money to save our club. The supporter has always stood by the club. Directors have come and gone. But we will always be there.

Oh , did Michael mention Cambuslang by any chance?

  21. Is Charlie the one to be left without a seat when the music stops on this particular Celtic reshuffle?

The way is see it, he is going for the holding role jersey, Biton has this now, to my mind, and will take a bit of shifting.

I like Charlie as a player, he is capable of outstanding performances at times and brings a lot to the table. I hope he sticks around but its a long queue for a starting jersey the now. Young Henderson for examlle, can feel aggrieved at not starting , he did nothing wrong.

We might need Charlie at Centre Hauf before next August has come and gone also. So no trip to Bolton before then please…..

  22. Mike in Toronto

your honesty and passion shines through, drink is never an excuse so I apologise ifi offended you.

I agree about our heritage and reasons for our foundation and survival. The basic foundation stones are our building blocks. It is true that they have been compromised , the y have been tested to breaking point. My opinion is that we still stay on the side of the angels

  23. I compare Kris and Paddy not in style but based on my belief that they both have a real talent but also severe limitations.

Their talent has got them far in the game but their limitations will ultimately prevent them going to the top

  24. I saw your post on CQN , the guy disappeared very quickly , now I see neganon has been having a go at Philip . Some right arseholes on there.
