Celtic, or Wales, against the world

597

I read Wales defender Connor Roberts say “99% of the world” will support Denmark in their last 16 tie tomorrow and thought- the underdog, fighting against the crowd.  99% of the world will not support Denmark, not me, for a start, but the ‘us against the world’ narrative is one of my favourites.

As a rallying call, it is surely more effective than the alternative.  Today’s footballer is an immensely well catered for athlete, apart from his 90 minutes on the park and (relatively few) hours on the training field, he will struggle for little.  What does he have to fight against, if not perceived ranks of people wanting him to lose?

Beaten, humiliated in Europe, trophy-less, written-off by many among our own, singled-out by the Government.  Ange Postecoglou will not have to work hard to convince the players is really is them against the world.  This squad really does have plenty to fight against.

Someone needs to explain to me exactly what the benefits of the masonic brotherhood is if it is not to gain influence in all walks of live for their own gains for its own people? Seems public life is littered with these secret society types.

*No much I don’t know about them, secret or no, as I’ve read extensively about them plus the Vale of Leven is hoaching with them.

The local Bonhill and Alexandria ludge 321 temple or big hoose as its referred to was once the home of an Institute for Girls built in 1890 for £12,000, 30 year later the craft obtained it for £4,000, thanks to the “efforts of their members of the time”, WTF.

Anyway I’ve been watching a show about them on Netflix this week; a PR exercise is all it is. Mrs TT in the next room regularly comes in tae ell me tae calm down and watch my language as all she can hear is “lyin bassas”.

They keep emphasising that it’s not about “jobs for the boys” and anyone who thinks so is being badly misled, meanwhile those presented all have decent jobs, live in nice hooses and drive pretty good cars.

One of their main tenets seems tae be Temperance and yet they seem tae dae a lot of bevvying at their meetings before and after.

At the start of one of the episodes it mentions the belief in a higher power although devil worship is not one of them hmmm, that’s a new one, never heard them mention that before.

And yet Jahbulon, a word used in many of their rituals, is the name of a Pagan god which contradicts the Second Commandment “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me”.

The devil is known as the father of lies and he is appearing at a ludge near you and me.

  4. I would like to ask Dominic McKay to table a motion to make referees divulge what team they support. Other countries do this and then ensure that they don’t officiate any of that team’s fixtures.

No fair minded club would object and we really should be asking Celtic why it hasn’t been at least discussed.

The other thing is VAR…. In my opinion this should be a must. It’s a bit mickey mouse not having it (the cost to have it in the top division would be peanuts) and might even cost us players in the future because it gives off such an amateurish impression.

Lastly, with 11 grass pitches next season instead of 9, the time is now perfect to get the 10-2 vote required to ban them in the top league.

  5. You can’t prove bias in Scottish football, so there’s no point trying.

The best we can aim for is, as Laxalt says above, is copying England (and I assume the rest of the world) where all refs have to declare who they support.

  6. There’s been some utter dross in these Euros, they really need to cut back on the number of teams that can qualify.

  7. Denmark in a World Cup group near you.

Good to see Big Morten in such good health, a great Celt!

    And a great Dane

    The huddle

That logic might lead to only 8 teams qualifying for the CL

    ———

Not really, you can scrap the Nation League for starters.

And then only top 2 get through to the knock out stages, none of this 3rd best placed finishers.

  9. Just noticed you said CL??

CL is a whole nother issue, purely a money making exercise with 5 maybe 6 teams capable of winning it.

  10. !!Bada Bing!! on

I understand the fans wanting to protest, but a merchandise boycott is good for who?

  11. The huddle

That was my point – only a few can win it

If we wanted to spice up these tournaments then scrap the seeding system.

I’m not sure if everyone has seen the footage of Ange and Dom meeting the fans media, which was held separately from the msm one.

    Here’s the link :

    ……………………………………………………………………

Thanks for this. Really looking forward to the new Season now. Ange looks to be a perfect fit for Celtic.

  13. Well done Denmark – a step too far for Wales.

But it shows how a group of players can use a situation (Eriksen) to inspire them. Puts our shambles of last season into perspective. Our players had the chance to make more history and achieve something, 10iar, which I believe will never be bettered in the Scottish game, and they meekly surrendered.

It it also a reminder of the task facing us against the Danes of Midtylland in a few weeks – although the Ibrox franchise did skelp them 7-3 on aggregate less than two years ago.

We will have probably have no fans at Celtic Park for the home tie. Infections in Scotland continue to grow and sit at 125% proportionally higher than the UK as a whole. Now that Euros are over for Scotland, data and not flags will determine decisions on attendance.

CL should go back to knock out, give everyone that qualifies a big cheque, then the 4 semi finalists get a bigger chunk.

I can understand seeding in the Euros/WC but make it harder to qualify to the knockouts, maybe only top 1 gets through.

It’s ridiculous that Portugal, Germany and France get through from the same group.

  15. Go tell the Spartim on

    Bada

It’s good for me as I might actually get the chance to purchase some of the kit this time round.

    🤪

Having listened to the fanzine presser I was pleasantly surprised in Dom, big Ange I like already.

Think we need to press on, pardon the pun, with the SMSM are no friends of Celtic, notably Sky, the BBC. It was the guy from sky that asked the “second choice “ question, are we surprised

Agreed, especially on the grass pitches and referees. On the who do you support referee front, It’s as if how could Bonny Scotland possibly harbour any form of cheating or unconscious bias 🤔.

VAR would certainly add another level of frustration at times, but if it ends in the correct decision being made (mostly) then surely it’s worthwhile.

  17. Guys,

    Get a grip.

It’s not infections that matter, it’s the consequences.

Currently and thankfully the vaccines are working

Very shortly everyone who wants vaccinated will have been acconmodated.

No excuse to not fully open society

    HH.

  18. Petec,

Of course those who want to individually self isolate should also have their wishes respected.

    HH.

  19. Greenpinata,

My concern was those who don’t need to be vaccinated would be excluded from Celtic Park. i.e. those who choose not to do so.

I’d hate to live in a Scientific Dictatorship.
