Celtic, or Wales, against the world

597

I read Wales defender Connor Roberts say “99% of the world” will support Denmark in their last 16 tie tomorrow and thought- the underdog, fighting against the crowd.  99% of the world will not support Denmark, not me, for a start, but the ‘us against the world’ narrative is one of my favourites.

As a rallying call, it is surely more effective than the alternative.  Today’s footballer is an immensely well catered for athlete, apart from his 90 minutes on the park and (relatively few) hours on the training field, he will struggle for little.  What does he have to fight against, if not perceived ranks of people wanting him to lose?

Beaten, humiliated in Europe, trophy-less, written-off by many among our own, singled-out by the Government.  Ange Postecoglou will not have to work hard to convince the players is really is them against the world.  This squad really does have plenty to fight against.

Lock down’s been a weight nightmare for me also.

Bought a suit the other day and pair of chinos, just took my usual 34 waist, had to go down the next day and get 36 waist for both, just managed to get into them. Reckon I’ve put on a stone in the last year. Hey ho. Off to the Isle of Bute for a few days today, here’s hoping plenty of walks, and staying away from Alex’s meringues at Ettrick Bay will help, por cierto

    H.H.

    ……………….

I SHOULD eat MORE Tatties rather than Iced Doughnuts and Coconut Snowballs every day….

Ive probably drunk outta some Puddles when Ive been pure steaming boats and lying in the street…upside doon….it hasnt done me any harm….HICCUP…Sorry LOL !

    HH.

  5. Iced Doughnuts, Coconut Jam Filled Snowballs and Empire biscuits…have been part of my downfall…NOT the Drink !

    LOL

    HH.

  6. Damn VAR…I had Denmark to beat Wales 3-0 @ 16/1…But VAR overturned the Ref in injury time to award a 4th Goal for Denmark.

Ive had a few correct scores come up in the EUROS so far…I had Germany v Hungary to Draw 2-2 @ 33/1 ( correct score)…which has been the best return for me so far.

I backed a Horse called ” HURRICANE LANE” Weeks ago for the English Derby, sadly it finished 3rd.

However I backed it yesterday in the IRISH Derby and it Won and I had the EARLY Odds of 11/2…instead of the 4/1 it returned at. I had it os three lines.

I ALSO backed the Straight Forecast with Hurricane Lane and LONE EAGLE. It paid out at just over £24.00, but I had the EARLY Odds, so MY Straight forecast paid out just over £38.00.

So I had a good day at the Bookies yesterday…but I should press on with my Earlier Complaint against Bet365 in the next couple of days, which I plan to do.

Bet365 had to pay ME Money yesterday thanks to Hurricane Lane etc.

Hancock would still have been “breaching covid rules” if the wee scumbag had not been caught.

Beeb news said last night he’d left his wife.

I hope he rots in hell and soon.

    Eating Lettuce ?

I would never consider doing that…Who am I, to deny millions of wee Bunny Rabbits of their daily Diet ?

    LOL.

    HH Mate.

  14. On the idiot Hancock thing.Did anyone, and I mean anyone, think when the witnessed his schoolboy fumbling, think to themselves Dear God he is breaking Covid rules there”.I mean, really?

This is the spin coming out of the sleaze cabal in Westminster this morning.

Boris wanted to keep him on because of the wonderful job he had done during the Pandemic.Eh !!!!!!!.

He resigned, not because of the scandal, not at all,but because he felt guilty that he had broken the distance rule, after telling everyone else it should be observed.Eh !!!!!!!!

I can imagine the scene unfolding in the Hancock house last night.

“I mean, how could you,Matt. On national TV,you shamed your whole family,I don’t know how we can ever show our face again,by breaking the 2 metre rule. AYE RIGHT.

  16. Again on the idiot Hancock.Maybe it was just me,but when he entered his office, closed the door, and turned to his tart,it was soooooooo like a scene from Allo Allo, when Michelle would turn to Rene in the storeroom, open her arms, and say”Ohhhh Rene”before clinching.

Watched first episode of new (final) series of Bosch on Friday as well. Noticed too that his Irish Tricolour tattoo was covered. Was more disturbed that the subtitles which I require, as I’m corn beef, were in a strange language which resembled Turkish. I checked episode 2 briefly and they were in English thankfully.

Happy birthday – look on the bright side you’re a year closer to your state pension 🎉🍾

Didn’t know that The Dolphin was still open.

I remember when I went on the Whiteinch supporters bus and it used to stop at the Dolphin and pick up. Some of the older guys used to jump off the bus and go in for a pint.

Good you’re on the way to a mend. Did you watch the Northumberland Plate yesterday? More than a few Scottish punters would have received a lift at 33s from the Jim Goldie trained Nicholas T. A 9 year old.

Such an entertaining race, I’m sure it passed ten horses in the last two furlongs. Like the end of a movie.

Goldie was asked if he was worried about his horse coming out of the stalls stone last, “well he’s not a sprinter”.

    Well worth a re-watch.

  27. Was fortunate enough to get an invite to the Saints and Sinners meeting at Hamilton Racecourse on Thursday, excellent day out in good company in the Panorama Bar.

Never backed a winner, my good lady backed two! Including Celtic Empress.

There were a couple of Hail Mary winners, 80/1 and 40/1 one of our fellow diners backed the big winner, jammy sod. The Tote had to ask him to come back in a few minutes so they could get his winnings sorted.

Thoroughly enjoyed our day, stayed in the Hilton on the racecourse, highly recommend it fir a night at the races. 🐎
