Celtic player luxury not afforded to Maribor

678

While Ronny Deila rested 10 players ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League play-off decider, Maribor changed only four players for their 3-0 win over Zavrc, who were three points ahead of them on the Slovenian league.  Wednesday’s goalscorer, Bohar, was replaced midway through the second half, while Tavares came on for the last 10 minutes.

Whatever regrets Ronny has over yesterday’s defeat he’ll get over it when he sees a dressing-room full of players who have rested and trained appropriately all week.

Do us all a favour and do it on the Centre line at Celtic Park on Tuesday night., That would put the supporters in a good mood for the game..

  6. Many of CQN saying CL is all that matters. I understand the money and the glory it brings.

Not for me is it the most important. The CL is a BONUS. Every year. If we get in, I’m as happy as a Kojo. If not then so be it. Europa league is fine, if we make that.

The league is the bread and butter. It’s what keeps me interested week after week. Every game should be played with our strongest team available. Injuries should be dealt with as part of the strategy of having a squad of players.

I entirely agree with building a team to suit the coaches ideas and not building a team around the players you have.

    HICKUP

  9. However, I think the team RD picked was good enough to win the game and in fact could have won the game. ICT had two shots on target, we had lots. Poor attempts and good keeping kept us out.

  10. Just think how good Messi would be if he didn’t tuck in to burger ‘n chips washed down with a couple of cans of Irn Bru!

  13. Players like del Piero, Xavi, Pirlo…will not come to Celtic under current circumstances.

They will go to the Gulf, the USA, Australia…

    We can dream.

Where did you end up? Saw Chunky after Mass this morning he was neither up nor down.

  15. McDowellcelt god bless wee oscar on

Anders lindegaard supposed to be signing on a 1 year loan deal.

Man utd reserve goalkeeper. Strange one that is. Can’t see why he would leave man utds bench to come sit on our bench as number 2 to craig Gordon.

  16. Not convinced that leaving out so many was the right thing. What happens when we play the 6 CL games if we qualify?.Would he be tempted to do the same, before these games?.

Too many of our players are still needing time to gel.Ronnie has brought in so many new ideas and tactics.Players need game time to put these into practice. Its all ifs and buts, and all about opinions.

KC should not play in the CL as far as I am concerned. Not until he learns to control a ball quickly. His 1st touch 50% of the time is atrocious. For a player of his ability, this is not good.Where he plays,if his touch loses the ball, then we are on the defensive right away, usually caught out because we have been on the front foot.

I like KC,but this really is a grave weakness in his game.I watched him at Forest when he started and he was exactly the same.Shocking that he has not really got this part of his game improved.
